What the choices reveal about field-watch priorities
Case size is a range, not a rule
The named watches run from a 37 mm Studio Underd0g to a 41 mm Formex. Among the models with reported lug-to-lug measurements, the range is 45 mm for the Praesidus to 47 mm for the Bremont. Thickness also varies: the Serica is reported at 10.4 mm, while the Seiko Alpinist GMT is 13.6 mm. These figures offer a practical way to compare proportions, but case diameter alone does not determine how a watch wears.
Movement and added functions shape the experience
The Studio Underd0g is the only named hand-wound model. The Seiko stands apart with a caller GMT and fixed 24-hour bezel, while the Serica combines an automatic movement with COSC certification. The other reported movements are automatic. Fratello’s reported power reserves range from 38 hours on the Formex and Bremont to 72 hours on the Seiko; these are the article’s stated specifications, not independent test results.

Water resistance varies considerably
Among the watches for which the article text supplies a rating, the Serica is rated to 200 m, the Formex to 150 m, and the Praesidus to 50 m. The available text does not state ratings for the other four. This partial comparison does not establish that a particular model is suitable for every water activity; water resistance ratings and real-world use are not interchangeable guarantees.
Design and price are not directly comparable in every case
Fratello praises the C65 Dune Automatic’s appearance, quality, and finish, but the available text does not give its dimensions or movement specifications. The Praesidus design is described as inspired by Seiko 6119-8090 watches used during the Vietnam War. The launch-era prices also span different currencies and strap or bracelet configurations, so they are historical reference points rather than a like-for-like measure of value.

What the prices do—and do not—tell you
The euro figures and the Praesidus’s US-dollar figure are the prices stated in Fratello’s 2023 article. They should not be read as current retail prices, current offers, or evidence of present regional availability. Strap and bracelet options affect several listed prices, and the article’s price for the Serica explicitly includes VAT.
