That was the appeal for Time+Tide reviewer Cameron Wong in 2018; the current manufacturer listing confirms the model’s reference and core specifications.
Which Laureato does “bet on black” mean?
The title refers to the Laureato 42mm in black ceramic on a rubber strap, not simply a Laureato with a black dial. The corresponding current Girard-Perregaux reference is 81010-32-631-32A. The manufacturer also notes that this reference has been produced with a dial that omits the brand’s founding year, so dial details may vary. Girard-Perregaux’s official product page is the reference for the current model listing.
Why choose the ceramic case and rubber strap?
Wong’s case for this configuration was about wearing character rather than a claim that rubber is universally better than a bracelet. In his September 29, 2018 review, he wrote: “Now, typically I’d advocate for the bracelet variant, especially on a integrated case style like this, but here I think the rubber really works.” He said the strap made the Laureato “far more casual, and really wearer-friendly, and better honours the casual spirit of the design.”
That distinction is useful if you are deciding between the configurations: Wong viewed bracelet versions as more work-ready, while the rubber version better suited relaxed, casual wear. It is an editorial styling judgment, not a documented comparative wear test. Read the original Time+Tide review for his full impression.
