What the design and movement offer
A traditional, restrained dial
The silver dial, Roman numerals and railroad chapter ring give this reference a formal, traditional look. Its listed functions are limited to time display and seconds stop; it does not add a date or other complication. The 40 mm diameter and 10 mm height are the dimensions stated by the manufacturer, though those figures alone cannot determine how it will sit on a particular wrist.
Calibre 36-01 and its construction
Glashütte Original lists a silicon hairspring, Glashütte three-quarter plate and regulator-free fine adjustment for Calibre 36-01. The movement also has a skeletonised rotor with a 21-carat gold oscillation weight, bevelled edges, and polished and blued components. The 100-hour reserve is a manufacturer specification, not an independent measurement.

The manufacturer says the silicon hairspring makes the watch unaffected by magnetic fields and temperature changes, and that the bayonet mounting provides stability and shock resistance. These are manufacturer claims, not independent test findings. Glashütte Original also says the assembled watch undergoes a 24-day test cycle that goes beyond the scope of the German chronometer standard; this describes the company’s in-house testing and should not be mistaken for a third-party certification. The black-dial model is the closest alternative if dial contrast and luminous numerals matter more than the silver reference’s restrained Roman-numeral style. The perpetual calendar is a larger, thicker choice with substantially more calendar information. Panorama Date Moon Phase models add those displays in a different case configuration. Check the exact reference listing before comparing strap fit or materials.

Is the Senator Excellence worth its price?
That depends on the price quoted for the exact reference and what you value in a watch. This model’s case dimensions, long stated reserve, movement construction and understated dial make its proposition specific: a relatively slim 40 mm automatic with a traditional display, rather than a calendar-heavy watch.
