The F.P. Journe Chronomètre Souverain Havana keeps the model’s restrained, chronometer-inspired layout but gives it a warmer, more expressive presence with a brown guilloché dial. It is a manually wound watch powered by caliber 1304, with central hours and minutes, small seconds and a power-reserve display.
What makes the Havana version different?
The defining change is the dial. Fratello describes its tobacco-brown color as a gold-and-ruthenium treatment made by Les Cadraniers de Genève; Phillips likewise identifies the brown guilloché dial and gold-and-ruthenium coloring. The result reads as richer and warmer than a conventional light dial, while the pattern gives the surface texture rather than leaving it as a flat field.
Fratello’s description also notes a guilloché center, Journe numerals, a railroad minute track and ivory-colored hands. That combination gives the watch visual detail without displacing the legibility of its familiar display. Fratello’s Brandon Baines called the shade “a rich tobacco color reminiscent of the most opulent Cuban cigars”—an evocative aesthetic comparison, not a technical specification.
How the dial and displays work together
The hours and minutes are shown centrally. Small seconds sit at roughly 7:30, while the power-reserve indicator is at 3 o’clock. These subdisplays preserve the characteristic Chronomètre Souverain arrangement; the Havana treatment changes the mood more than the underlying reading of the watch.

Reading the power-reserve indicator
The reserve display works in an unusual direction: its zero position means the watch is fully wound. As the watch runs, the indicator tracks elapsed time since winding. It should therefore be read as a countdown of the remaining running interval, not as a conventional gauge that begins at zero when the mainspring is full.
Caliber 1304: twin barrels and a 56-hour reserve
Caliber 1304 is a manually wound movement built in 18-karat rose gold. Its two mainspring barrels are arranged in parallel. F.P. Journe’s official model page and specialist coverage state a 56-hour power reserve; the parallel arrangement is described as a way to support steadier torque delivery, rather than simply to extend the reserve.

Fratello reports a rate of 21,600 vibrations per hour. That figure is from its 2021 caliber description. The movement’s mechanical choices connect neatly to the watch’s chronometer emphasis: the display makes winding and elapsed running time visible, while the twin-barrel layout is intended to smooth the energy supplied as the watch runs.
Case materials, dimensions and configurations
The documented case materials are 18-karat 6N gold and 950 platinum. Both specialist articles report a 40 mm diameter and 8.6 mm thickness, while F.P. Journe’s localized official model page lists a 40 mm diameter and 8 mm thickness. The published thickness figures therefore differ; they should not be treated as interchangeable or silently resolved.

Fratello also gives a 48 mm lug-to-lug measurement, but that figure is not independently corroborated by the official page cited here. The two case metals offer distinct visual relationships with the brown dial: gold continues its warmth, while platinum creates a cooler contrast. Choosing between them—and between strap and bracelet—is a matter of the look and wearing configuration preferred; the cited sources do not establish a universally better option.

The Havana edition is most compelling for someone drawn to the Chronomètre Souverain’s compact, orderly display but wanting a more characterful dial than a neutral one. Its brown-and-ivory palette lends the watch a dressier, more tactile impression, while the familiar subdial positions and manual-wind caliber keep it recognizably within the Souverain family. The available sources do not establish current pricing, production status or stock, so those details should be confirmed directly with F.P. Journe or an authorized retailer.
