The original blue Nivada Grenchen F77 is a 37 mm integrated-bracelet sports watch with a textured dial, octagonal bezel and automatic movement. Fratello’s Balazs Ferenczi reviewed a blue no-date example in 2023; the F77 Blue currently listed by Nivada Grenchen is a later, larger 38 mm MK2, so check the generation before comparing fit or buying.
The original F77 Blue: a compact design with a strong dial
Nivada Grenchen describes the F77 as a reissue of its 1977 model. The original blue version pairs a round dial with an octagonal bezel and an integrated steel bracelet. Its defining detail is an embossed blue pattern described as a carbon effect or basketweave: a textured surface that gives the dial more visual depth than a flat blue finish.
Fratello reviewer Balazs Ferenczi chose blue over black because it stood out more, and says handling the watch in Geneva changed his initial opinion. He observed that bright sunlight makes the dial’s three-dimensional effect especially apparent, with raised indexes adding depth. He also found the Super-LumiNova legible at night without being overpoweringly bright. These are his hands-on impressions, not laboratory measurements.
Ferenczi’s verdict after wearing the no-date example for a week was: “I was excited to try on this beauty and see if I still liked it after a week. To that, I can answer a definitive ‘yes.’”

How the original 37 mm differs from the current MK2
The blue watch Nivada Grenchen currently lists is the F77 MK2, not the exact 37 mm model Ferenczi reviewed. The MK2 is slightly larger across the case and lug-to-lug, but thinner. It keeps the SOPROD P024 movement and 38-hour reserve, while changing the dial description, bracelet and some case details.

Nivada Grenchen says the MK2 has more curved lugs, a slimmer profile, a redesigned integrated bracelet intended to improve ergonomics, and drilled lugs for strap changes. It also adds an open balance at 6 o’clock. Those are manufacturer descriptions; they should not be mistaken for the original model’s construction or for independently verified comfort results.
Does the integrated bracelet make it wear larger?
Ferenczi felt the original F77 wore larger than its 45 mm lug-to-lug measurement might suggest. That is his wrist impression, not a universal fit rule: an integrated bracelet’s shape and the way the case and bracelet sit can affect the sense of scale, and wrist shape matters as well. The original’s 37 mm diameter and 45 mm lug-to-lug are useful starting points, but they cannot guarantee how it will fit a particular wrist.

- Function meets fashion in this Invicta watch, which features sophisticated design details such as a rotating date calendar and black sunray dial with silver-tone hands and markers.
For the MK2, the listed 38 mm diameter and 46.2 mm lug-to-lug mean it is not dimensionally identical to the original. Try the exact generation and bracelet configuration if fit is a deciding factor; a retailer listing for one version should not be used to infer the feel of the other.
