The Sternglas Naos Automatik is a family of watches, not one fixed specification. The current piano-black model has a Miyota 8215 movement and up to 42 hours of power reserve; the Naos Automatik Edition 60 uses a Miyota 8315 and is listed with a 60-hour reserve. Comfort reports are positive but apply to particular editions and straps, so check the exact reference before comparing specifications or choosing a version.
Which Naos Automatik does this review describe?
The specifications below distinguish two current Sternglas listings from older independent hands-on reviews. They should not be combined into a single family-wide spec sheet: the movement, reserve, dial, strap and some dimensions vary by reference.

Sternglas’s 2019 product review concerns an earlier white-dial watch with a Miyota 821A and Milanese bracelet, not either movement configuration above. A separate 2023 Fratello review covers the Yellow Edition. Those reports offer useful wear impressions, but they are not inspections of the current piano-black reference.
How does the Naos Automatik wear?
Independent reviewers found their 38 mm watches comfortable, while noting different details about fit and profile. In its 2019 review, Fratello called the earlier Naos “a very comfortable watch to wear with its 38mm case and the Milanese strap.” That reviewer also preferred a leather strap because of concerns with the tested bracelet’s straightness, clasp adjustment and clasp security. Those criticisms apply to that reviewed Milanese bracelet; they do not establish a problem with the current piano-black leather strap.

For the Yellow Edition in 2023, a Fratello reviewer reported comfortable wear on a 7-inch wrist despite the watch’s 12 mm profile. The profile initially appeared substantial from the side; the reviewer later wrote that “the thickness is no longer on my mind.” This is one wearer’s impression of that edition, rather than a guarantee of fit for every wrist or strap.
What movement is in the Sternglas Naos Automatik?
It depends on the reference. Sternglas lists a Miyota 8215 in the current piano-black model, with up to 42 hours of reserve, date, hacking seconds and manual winding. The listing gives a stated accuracy of -20/+40 seconds per day; this is the manufacturer’s specification, not a controlled measurement of a particular watch.

- 3 Hand with Date, Automatic, 42 Hour Power Reserve
- Sapphire Crystal
- 50M Water Resistant and 5 Year Limited Warranty
The Edition 60 listing specifies a Miyota 8315 and 60 hours of power reserve, along with date at 6, hacking seconds and manual winding. The 8315 and 8215 listings therefore should not be treated as interchangeable descriptions of the Naos. The movement maker’s movement catalog provides general movement information, but the Sternglas listing is the relevant source for identifying what is specified in each watch.

Sternglas lists the piano-black case at 12 mm high without the crystal, with a 42 mm lug-to-lug measurement and 20 mm lugs. Edition 60 is listed with 12 mm height, 43 mm lug-to-lug and 20 mm lugs.

The one-millimetre lug-to-lug difference is reference-specific. It is also worth comparing listings directly if case length is decisive, rather than assuming that every Naos shares one measurement. The manufacturer’s 5 ATM rating should not be read as a claim that this is a dive watch.
Quick Recap
What should you check before choosing one?
- Match the exact reference and edition. Confirm the dial, reference number and movement on the live product page.
- Check fit using more than diameter. Compare lug-to-lug length and case height, and account for the domed crystal when considering how the watch will sit under a cuff.
- Choose by strap, not family reputation. The current piano-black listing includes black leather; older reviews discuss a Milanese bracelet, while the Yellow Edition review discusses a Cordura strap. Check what is supplied with the specific variant and verify lug width and attachment compatibility before buying a replacement.
- Inspect dial and low-light details. Sternglas lists no lume on the piano-black reference. The cited listings do not establish the same lume specification for every edition.
- Verify current price and availability. Edition 60 was shown at €499 including VAT on the page captured 7 October 2026; that figure is not a guarantee of today’s price or stock in every market.
