Its GMT hand is independently adjustable, but it is a caller GMT rather than a traveler-focused flyer GMT. The Steel / Brown listing is marked sold out on Laventure’s site; that status does not establish availability for every version or on the secondary market.
What makes the Transatlantique II GMT distinctive?
Laventure gives the watch a deliberately vintage-leaning character without presenting it as a reproduction or reissue. The Steel / Brown model pairs a matte gradient-brown sandwich dial with a caramel-brown, 24-hour graduated Plexiglas bezel insert. According to Laventure’s product page, the dial’s cut-out indices reveal a lower plate filled with green-emission Super-LumiNova Grade X1; the bezel’s raised numerals and indexes are luminous as well.

The sandwich construction and warm colors make the dial and bezel feel more layered than a simple printed 24-hour scale. The material choice is equally characterful: the Superdome crystal is Plexiglas, not sapphire. That brings a softer, vintage-style profile, along with a surface that can scratch more readily than sapphire.
How large and thick is it?
For the Steel / Brown, Laventure lists a 38.90 mm diameter, 46.20 mm lug-to-lug, and 8.90 mm thickness excluding the crystal. Fratello’s hands-on review reports 12 mm overall height with the 3 mm Superdome included. Those figures describe different measurement bases, not conflicting measurements. The short lug-to-lug length and modest case measurement suggest a compact watch, while the domed crystal adds visible height.

The case is polished and satin-finished 316L steel. It has an 8 mm screw-down “Big Crown,” a 24-notch bidirectional bezel, and a 200 m / 660 ft water-resistance rating on the official Steel / Brown listing. Laventure specifies an integrated 316L steel bracelet with a three-blade clasp measuring 16 mm wide.
Is it a caller or flyer GMT?
It is a caller GMT. Fratello’s introduction identifies the independently adjustable hand as the 24-hour hand. A caller GMT is useful when you want to track another time zone—for example, the time at home—while leaving the local hour hand alone. It is not the typical flyer arrangement, in which the local 12-hour hand jumps independently for quick adjustment after landing.

This is an operational difference, not a ranking of quality. Frequent travelers who want to reset local time quickly may prefer a flyer mechanism; someone who mainly tracks a second time zone may find the caller arrangement suits their routine. Laventure identifies the movement as Caliber 3, made by Sellita on the SW330-2 base for the brand.

Laventure lists Caliber 3 as an automatic movement beating at 4 Hz, or 28,800 vibrations per hour, with 25 jewels and a 56-hour power reserve. The maker says the caliber is COSC-certified. Its Caliber 3 and COSC explanation describes 15 days of testing in five positions at 8°C, 23°C, and 38°C, and gives a certified rate range of -4/+6 seconds per day. These are the manufacturer’s stated movement and certification details, not a guarantee of the rate any individual watch will maintain in every wearer’s conditions.

What does the Plexiglas crystal mean for ownership?
Plexiglas can pick up surface scratches in ordinary use, but light marks are generally easier to polish out than scratches in sapphire. Laventure says of its Superdome: “Scratches are very easily re-polished, something you can do yourself.” That is the maker’s guidance, not independent durability testing. Use a polish specifically intended for acrylic watch crystals and follow its instructions; deep scratches, cracks, chips, or damage near the edge may call for professional assessment or crystal replacement rather than home buffing.
Fratello’s reviewer also notes that Plexiglas can show wear and considers routine buffing or replacement feasible. That is one reviewer’s observation, not a claim that every mark can be removed or that all repairs will be straightforward.

How limited is it, and is it available?
Laventure’s Steel / Brown product page states a production limit of 99 pieces and currently labels that listing “Sold out.” The Steel & Gold / Brown version is listed as limited to 50 pieces; its official description specifies Au750 solid gold for the bezel and crown and a gold medallion on the caseback. These quantities and the displayed status are the maker’s statements on its product pages. A sold-out listing for Steel / Brown does not establish the status of every reference, later production, or resale availability.
Prices reported at launch by Fratello in 2024 were CHF 4,200 excluding VAT for Steel / Black on rubber, CHF 4,800 excluding VAT for Steel / Brown on bracelet, and CHF 8,200 excluding VAT for Steel & Gold / Brown. In the hands-on story, the writer separately calculated CHF 5,080 before VAT for a hypothetical Steel / Black package with extra strap, buckle, bracelet, and shipping, then just under CHF 6,150 using an assumed 21% VAT. Those are historical article figures and one author’s configuration calculation, not current quotes or universal landed costs.

Fratello’s comparison with the Tudor Black Bay 58 GMT frames the choice around mechanism, design, fit, and price rather than a single objective winner. The useful questions are:

Its COSC-certified Sellita-based movement and stated 200 m water resistance add practical credentials, but the appeal is not reducible to a specification sheet. The design and the way the watch wears are central to the decision.
