What is the Depancel Serie-R Cruiser?
Depancel builds the Serie-R Cruiser’s design around café-racer culture and automotive details. The brand says the case takes inspiration from a radiator grille, while the dial’s vertical displays evoke a fuel gauge and dusk-to-dawn indicator. These are visual references, not motorcycle or racing instruments. The model is a square-shaped automatic watch with a date and two additional displays.
Depancel’s product page describes its mission this way: “At Depancel, we’re on a mission to put beautiful mechanics on the maximum number of wrists!” That is the brand’s own statement, not an independent assessment.
What does the dial show?
- Time: central hour, minute and seconds hands.
- Date: a date window.
- Day/night: a 24-hour indicator that follows the central hands. It is not a second time zone, according to Monochrome Watches.
- Power reserve: an indicator styled like a fuel gauge.
The 24-hour display can resemble a second-time-zone subdial at a glance, but the coverage from Monochrome identifies it as a day/night indicator tracking the displayed time. The watch is not described as having a GMT function or chronograph.

What movement is in the Depancel Serie-R Cruiser?
The Cruiser uses an automatic Miyota 9132 movement. Depancel and the cited watch coverage list a 40-hour power reserve, while Monochrome reports 26 jewels, a rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), and a stated accuracy rating of −10/+30 seconds per day. That accuracy figure is Monochrome’s reported specification, not a measurement made for this article.
Functions are hours, minutes, seconds, date, a 24-hour day/night display and power-reserve indication. Fergus Nash at Time+Tide called the movement finishing plain in his hands-on coverage; that is his observation of the sample, not a claim about every example.

How big does the Depancel Serie-R Cruiser wear?
The published measurements do not line up perfectly. Depancel’s current product page lists 43 × 36 mm and 12.95 mm thick, but its opened specification text does not identify the 43 mm figure as lug-to-lug. Time+Tide lists a 36 mm width and 42 mm lug-to-lug; Monochrome gives 42 × 36 mm. Those figures should not be silently treated as identical measurements.

In his Time+Tide hands-on, Fergus Nash said the sample felt comfortable and wore smaller than its square-watch appearance suggested. That impression is specific to his Petrol Blue sample and his reported 36 mm width and 42 mm lug-to-lug measurement; wrist fit can vary.

Case, dial and available colors
The case is 316L stainless steel with sandblasted, brushed and polished surfaces. Depancel lists a sapphire crystal over the dial and a mineral-glass caseback. The dials are offered in Petrol Blue, Dark Green and Shadow Black in the cited coverage; availability can vary, and the current official listing referenced here is Dark Green.
Time+Tide’s Fergus Nash handled a Petrol Blue sample. He described a sandblasted upper-case texture, Geneva striping on the dial intended to evoke a radiator, applied lume-filled indices, a date window and vertically arranged indicator displays. These are his hands-on observations, not results of testing for this article.

Water resistance and crown
Depancel lists water resistance at 50 m / 5 ATM and specifies a non-screw-down crown. That rating does not make the Cruiser a dive watch; follow the manufacturer’s current guidance for use around water and ensure the crown is properly positioned.

The official lug width is 22 mm, so look for a compatible 22 mm watch strap. Depancel lists calfskin leather in black or brown and steel pin or deployant buckle options. Before buying a replacement, verify that its attachment suits the watch and that the buckle or strap end works with your preferred setup.

Price, warranty and setup
At the time represented by Depancel’s English Dark Green product listing, the listed price was €750, with tax treatment dependent on market, and the page stated a five-year warranty. Stock, regional pricing and applicable warranty terms can change, so confirm them on the official listing for your market. Time+Tide and Monochrome reported €695 as the launch price in November 2022; it is historical, not the current listed price.
Depancel advises manually winding the watch before first wear and provides guidance on timing calendar settings. Use the current official instructions rather than relying on generic setting advice. The brand describes its five-year warranty as covering manufacturing defects during normal use, with exclusions including loss, normal wear, misuse, accidents and unauthorized maintenance; check the applicable regional terms at purchase.
Published hands-on coverage
Fergus Nash’s Time+Tide hands-on article, published 3 November 2022, covers a Petrol Blue sample and reports his impressions of its comfort, dial and case finishing.
