What makes the Black Ceramic F77 different?
The F77 is a re-edition of a Nivada Grenchen design dating to 1977. The brand did not make a ceramic F77 at the time; the black ceramic model is a later material variation of the line. Nivada describes the black version as having a matte ceramic case and integrated ceramic bracelet. Fratello reviewer Balazs Ferenczi wrote that it “looks the same as the steel version” to the naked eye, while the material and finish distinguish it on closer inspection. Ceramic gives this version a consistent black look across the case and bracelet. Nivada markets the material as scratch resistant, but the cited product information provides no quantified scratch, impact or breakage test. That makes the material description useful as a product claim, not a guarantee of how a particular watch will fare in use.

The two sources differ slightly on thickness: Nivada lists 12.85mm, while Fratello’s table gives 12.65mm. Both put it below 13mm, but the discrepancy is worth noting rather than treating either measurement as definitive. How does the ceramic bracelet fit?
Fratello’s Balazs Ferenczi reported wearing the watch almost exclusively for weeks and described it as comfortable, balanced and legible. Those are his wear impressions, not an independent fit test. He also identified two details that matter when judging size: the butterfly clasp has no micro-adjustment, and the end links use a single T-shaped piece that protrudes more than the steel model’s articulating center link.
As a result, the 37mm case diameter alone may not predict how the watch sits on your wrist. Ferenczi advises people with smaller wrists to try it on, because the projecting end-link shape can make the watch feel longer. The clasp’s lack of micro-adjustment also limits fine sizing once the bracelet is fitted; check whether the available links give you a comfortable fit before buying.

Nivada’s collection page lists a starting price of $1,450, €1,370, CHF 1,280 or £1,140. The exact black tressed-dial MK1 product page showed $1,560 and sold-out status when accessed on October 7, 2026. Who should consider the Black Ceramic?
The Black Ceramic makes the most sense for someone who wants the F77’s integrated-bracelet shape in a uniform, matte-black material and prefers a time-only dial. The black tressed version is the standard visual choice in the cited listing; meteorite and lapis provide stone-dial alternatives, but their launch-era limited status does not establish present stock.

If bracelet fit is a priority, focus on the 45mm lug-to-lug measurement and the protruding end links, not diameter alone.
