First, identify what “in gold” means
OMEGA’s August 2026 Speedmaster 38 refresh includes two-tone references, but the manufacturer describes their cases as stainless steel. Gold appears in particular components, not throughout the case. A separate 38 mm watch that OMEGA explicitly describes as being in 18K Sedna Gold is reference 324.58.38.50.63.001.
OMEGA identified that reference in its January 12, 2026 Golden Globes coverage as the watch actor Timothy Simons wore: a 38 mm Speedmaster in 18K Sedna Gold, with a diamond-paved bezel, brown dial and brown leather strap. That establishes the model’s identity and appearance, not that it is the watch on a reviewer’s wrist or that it is currently available to buy. OMEGA’s Golden Globes article is the source for the reference and event appearance.
What changed in the 2026 Speedmaster 38 refresh
OMEGA announced seven new references on August 25, 2026. The update reshapes the collection rather than changing its 38 mm identity: rounded subdials replace the former oval ones, the dial carries less wording, and the thicker bezel adopts the Moonwatch-associated Dot-Over-Ninety detail. The watches also move to Moonwatch-style five-link bracelets. OMEGA says the central links are polished or brushed depending on the model. These are manufacturer-described design changes, not independent wear or finishing assessments.

OMEGA President and CEO Raynald Aeschlimann described the design intent this way: “The Speedmaster 38 mm has always taken its cues from the Moonwatch, while keeping size, colour, and simplicity in mind.” He added: “With this latest update, we’ve taken the Moonwatch inspiration even further, helping to enrich the Speedmaster DNA while still retaining the refined and unique nature that the 38 mm range is known for.” Those statements express OMEGA’s perspective on the collection.
How the refreshed gold-accented models differ
The two bicolour watches pair different gold alloys and colour schemes with stainless-steel cases. OMEGA’s announcement describes their components as follows:

These component descriptions come from OMEGA’s August 25, 2026 collection announcement. They are not solid-gold cases. The Sedna Gold two-tone watch in particular should not be confused with the separately identified 18K Sedna Gold reference 324.58.38.50.63.001.
Movements and date display in the new references
OMEGA says the refreshed collection uses two self-winding Co-Axial movements. Calibre 3330 powers six of the seven new references, all with date functions; Calibre 3332 is used in the black-dial reference, which has no date. The announcement does not provide a basis here for independent conclusions about accuracy, power reserve in real-world use, or servicing needs.

Diamond bezels: keep the specifications model-specific
Among the 2026 references, OMEGA describes two diamond-set versions: one with an ice-blue PVD dial and one with a white mother-of-pearl dial. For those two versions, it specifies 52 diamonds with a combined weight of 1.53 carats. That count and weight should not be generalized to every gold or diamond-bezel Speedmaster 38.
OMEGA’s April 23, 2024 collection note separately described gold and steel Speedmaster 38 diamond-bezel models with 52 diamonds on each bezel and a diamond-set polished crown. The searchable text of that note does not identify a reference, so it should not be used to assign a model number or assume the same details apply to the 2026 watches. What a hands-on review can—and cannot—establish
A genuine hands-on assessment should name the exact reference and distinguish observations from the manufacturer’s specifications. On-wrist comfort, how the bracelet drapes, clasp feel, legibility in changing light and the perceived visual balance of the case are matters a reviewer can report only after handling that specific watch. The official releases establish design and listed specifications; they do not provide independent wear impressions or performance measurements for reference 324.58.38.50.63.001.
Likewise, the available official material does not state a current price, regional stock status, warranty terms, servicing interval or authorized-dealer availability for that reference. Confirm those details directly with OMEGA or a retailer for the reader’s market rather than treating an event appearance or collection announcement as evidence of present-day availability.
