In the United States, the cited 42 mm references are currently listed by Hermès at $7,500, $8,150, $8,600, $9,900 and $19,100; the cited 45 mm Chronographe is $13,000. Standard models use the Hermès Manufacture H1837 self-winding movement with approximately 50 hours of power reserve, while the Chronographe is rated for 46 hours. The right purchase depends less on the H08 name than on the exact reference, material, coating, strap or bracelet, wrist fit and service evidence.

How much does a Hermès H08 cost?
Hermès’ United States listings accessed in 2026 show a wide spread because “H08” covers multiple references and materials rather than one uniformly priced model. The cited prices are live official list prices and can change with inventory, regional policy or future revisions.

The listings cited for the five 42 mm watches do not establish a one-to-one material-to-price mapping in the available specifications, so do not assume that every titanium or composite version costs the same. The $19,100 42 mm listing is a substantially higher-priced configuration, while the $13,000 Chronographe sits between the lower and higher 42 mm prices. Before comparing offers, write down the complete reference number and check the exact Hermès listing for that reference.

It keeps your automatic watch securely displayed while adding a premium touch to your bedroom, office, or dresser.
- Quiet and Anti-Magnetic Japanese Motor - Equipped with a Japanese ultra-quiet motor, this watch winder operates smoothly with low noise for a more comfortable day and night experience. The anti-magnetic design helps protect your watch movement from magnetic interference and supports accurate performance over time.

What the official prices do and do not tell you
- They are United States list prices, not a guaranteed worldwide price or a pre-owned-market valuation.
- They do not include a seller’s private discount, taxes, import costs or insurance unless the seller states those separately.
- They do not prove that an individual secondary-market watch is authentic or correctly serviced.
- Colors, stock, delivery estimates and regional availability can change, so a saved price is a dated reference rather than a permanent quotation.
Which size is right for your wrist?
The standard H08 is specified at 42 mm lug-to-lug and 39 mm case width. The H08 Chronographe is specified at 45 mm lug-to-lug and 41 mm case width. Lug-to-lug length is especially useful for judging overhang: it describes the distance from the far end of one lug to the far end of the other, while case width is the across-the-case measurement used in most watch listings.
Measure before ordering
- Wrap a flexible tape around the wrist where the watch will sit, or measure that circumference with a strip of paper and a ruler.
- Measure the flat portion across the top of the wrist as a second check; a broad, flat wrist can carry a long lug-to-lug case differently from a round wrist of the same circumference.
- Compare a 39 mm case width and 42 mm lug-to-lug length with the dimensions of a watch you already wear comfortably.
- Repeat the comparison for the Chronographe’s 41 mm case width and 45 mm lug-to-lug length if you want its larger presence.
- Leave room for the strap or bracelet to articulate at the lugs. A case that technically fits the wrist can still feel too prominent if the lugs extend beyond the wrist’s edge.
Do not choose solely from a diameter number. The Chronographe is only a few millimetres larger in each stated dimension, but that difference can be conspicuous on a smaller wrist and welcome on a larger one. If buying remotely, ask the seller for a straight-on photograph on a wrist and for the exact lug-to-lug measurement rather than relying on a cropped product image.
H08 materials: titanium, composites, ceramic and precious metal
Material is one of the most consequential differences between H08 references. The cited line includes satin-brushed titanium, black-DLC-coated titanium, braided glass-fiber composite, aluminum, slate powder, graphene composite, ceramic bezels, rose gold and carbon-fiber composite with graphene coating. These are reference-specific combinations; “H08” alone does not identify the case, bezel or coating.

Satin-brushed titanium is the straightforward choice when you want a technical-looking case without a precious-metal finish. Brushing creates a directional surface, so scratches may be more visible when they cut across the grain. Ask a pre-owned seller for close photographs of the lugs, bezel edges and clasp rather than judging condition from a distant wrist shot.
Black-DLC-coated titanium
Black DLC is a coating over titanium, not a solid black metal throughout the case. Inspect high-contact areas for loss of the coating, especially lug corners, clasp edges and the bezel. A coating cannot be evaluated accurately from a description such as “black H08”; the reference number and detailed photographs are essential.
Glass-fiber, graphene and carbon composites
Braided glass-fiber composite, graphene composite and carbon-fiber composite with graphene coating give the H08 family different surface and visual character from metal cases. Composite terminology is not interchangeable: braided glass fiber, graphene composite and carbon-fiber composite with a graphene coating describe different constructions. Verify the wording used for the specific reference and check that the case-back, bezel and clasp correspond to the same configuration.

- ELEGANT CARBON FIBER DESIGN: Made of high-quality PU leather with a transparent acrylic window. The smooth PU leather interior reliably protects your mechanical watches from scratches. A stylish eye-catcher and the perfect presentation for your valuable watch collection.
- IMPORTANT SIZE COMPATIBILITY (PLEASE CHECK): To ensure smooth operation and prevent motor damage, this dual watch winder is designed for watches with the following maximum dimensions: Dial diameter under 47 mm, case thickness under 28 mm, and strap circumference under 175-195 mm. It can accommodate large watches, but cannot simultaneously hold two mechanical watches with a dial diameter of 58 mm with crown. Please measure your watch before purchasing.
- OPERATING PRINCIPLE: A watch winder serves exclusively to maintain the power reserve and simulates the natural movement of the wrist. It CANNOT wind a completely stopped watch from zero. Important: Please manually wind the crown of your watch approx 20-40 times before placing it in the winder. It CANNOT start or wind a completely stopped watch from zero. We also recommend manually checking the time once a week.
- INTELLIGENT INTERVAL ROTATION: Programmed with pauses to prevent over-winding. Mode B: 2 min clockwise, 6 min pause, 2 min counterclockwise. Mode L: 2 min counterclockwise, 18 min pause, 2 min clockwise. (If you see the winder rotate and then stop, this is the programmed pause — NOT a malfunction. Please wait through the full pause period (6 min for Mode B, 18 min for Mode L) )You can switch the device off when not in use.(Speed: 970-2430 TPD. Automatic watches only. NOT for Quartz, Seiko Kinetic, or Citizen Eco-Drive).
- CONSTANT POWER SUPPLY (NO BATTERY): Please note that this device does not have a built-in battery and must be permanently connected to a power source (3V~9V, 0.5A) during operation. A connection cable is included (power adapter NOT included). Multiple watch winders can be conveniently connected in series via the cable to save space and power outlets.
Aluminum, slate powder, ceramic and rose gold
Some references incorporate aluminum, slate powder or ceramic bezels, while another cited configuration combines rose gold with black-DLC elements. A ceramic bezel can have a different scratch and impact profile from a coated metal bezel; rose gold materially changes both appearance and price. Treat each as a separate configuration, not as a cosmetic color option.
Movement, power reserve and chronograph function
The cited H08 models use the Hermès Manufacture H1837 mechanical self-winding movement. Standard H08 pages specify approximately 50 hours of power reserve. The H08 Chronographe specifies 46 hours. In practical terms, a fully wound standard watch can stop after roughly two days off the wrist, while the Chronographe’s stated reserve is slightly shorter.
What “self-winding” means
An automatic movement winds its mainspring through wrist motion while you wear it, but it is still a mechanical watch: it is not battery powered. If it stops after being left unused, winding and setting it according to Hermès’ instructions is normal. A winder can keep it running during long storage, but it is optional rather than required for ordinary ownership.
What the Chronographe adds
The H08 Chronographe adds monopusher timing functionality and uses the larger 45 mm lug-to-lug, 41 mm case-width format. Choose it when you specifically want an integrated timing complication and prefer its larger case. Do not pay the Chronographe premium simply expecting a longer power reserve: its stated 46 hours is below the approximately 50 hours specified for the standard models.
When inspecting a pre-owned chronograph, operate the timing controls only if the seller permits it and the watch is known to be safe to handle. A sticky pusher, failure to start or stop, or a reset hand that does not return correctly warrants professional examination rather than repeated testing.

The cited models specify anti-glare sapphire crystal, a sapphire case-back and 10 bar water resistance. Sapphire is intended to resist everyday scratching, but it is not immune to chips or cracks from a hard impact. Anti-glare treatment can show marks or reflections differently from untreated crystal, so inspect the surface under angled light.
Ten bar is a specification for a watch in appropriate condition, not a promise that every older example remains watertight. Gaskets age, crowns can be damaged and case work can alter sealing. For a pre-owned purchase, ask for the latest pressure-test result and request a new test after service if the documentation is missing or the case has been opened. Do not infer water resistance from a clean dial or an attractive case.

Straps, bracelets and sizing
The exact strap or bracelet is part of the reference and should be checked alongside the case material. A titanium or composite case paired with a bracelet will feel and wear differently from the same nominal case on a strap. Confirm the clasp, end links, buckle and any included spare components in the seller’s photographs and description.
Bracelet adjustment
One official titanium-bracelet listing states that the watch is delivered in a 78.7-inch wrist size and requires adjustment through client services. Because that stated delivery size is unusual, confirm the intended sizing and the adjustment process with Hermès before placing an order. Do not assume that a bracelet will arrive fitted to your wrist or that a local seller can supply missing links.

How to choose among H08 references
| Priority | What to select or verify | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Smaller visual footprint | Standard 42 mm lug-to-lug, 39 mm case width | Shorter stated dimensions than the Chronographe and generally a less expansive wrist presence |
| Larger presence and timing function | 45 mm H08 Chronographe, 41 mm case width | Adds monopusher chronograph functionality and a larger case |
| Light, technical wearing character | A titanium or composite reference, verified by its complete reference number | Different material constructions change surface character and wearing feel |
| Dark appearance | Black-DLC-coated titanium or a reference with a graphene-coated carbon-fiber composite | Coatings and composite construction are reference-specific and require wear inspection |
| Precious-metal emphasis | The rose-gold/black-DLC configuration | Its official list price is substantially above the lower-priced standard references |
Use this as a decision order: first establish the size your wrist can carry, then choose the movement function, then decide whether the material and coating justify the price difference. Finally compare strap or bracelet fit and the seller’s service evidence. Reversing that order can leave you with an attractive reference that is uncomfortable or difficult to maintain.
Pre-owned Hermès H08 inspection checklist
1. Match the complete reference
Record every character of the reference number from the listing, warranty card and case-back. Compare the seller’s photographs with the official description: dial layout, hands, markers, bezel, case material, crown, clasp and case-back should belong to the same configuration. A generic “H08” description is not enough to authenticate a particular watch.
2. Confirm the size
Establish whether the watch is the standard 42 mm format or the 45 mm Chronographe. Ask for the stated case width and lug-to-lug dimensions, and compare them with your wrist measurements. A seller who cannot identify the size may also be confusing a standard H08 with the Chronographe.

3. Identify every material and coating
Ask the seller to identify the case, bezel and coating separately. Look for satin-brushed titanium, black DLC, braided glass-fiber composite, aluminum, slate powder, graphene composite, ceramic, rose gold or carbon-fiber composite with graphene coating as appropriate to the reference. Do not accept “composite” or “black” as a substitute for the exact construction.
4. Inspect high-risk exterior areas
- Crystal: chips, deep scratches, coating marks and evidence of replacement.
- Bezel and chamfers: dents, uneven finishing, over-polishing or coating loss.
- DLC or PVD-type surfaces: exposed bright metal at corners and clasp contact points.
- Case-back: engraving, screws, scratches and signs of tool damage.
- Strap or bracelet: stretched links, missing parts, cracked rubber or worn lining.
- Clasp and crown: secure closing, correct engraving and signs of replacement.
5. Demand movement and warranty evidence
Request service invoices, movement-service dates, warranty documentation, serial or provenance evidence and the seller’s return period. A service card without a matching serial number is not enough. If a watch has no reliable service history, budget for inspection by Hermès or a qualified watchmaker before relying on its timing or water resistance.
6. Test condition without taking risks
Ask for a pressure test, especially after service or case work. A seller should be able to explain whether the movement starts, winds and sets normally; avoid opening the case or repeatedly operating controls on an unverified watch. For the Chronographe, request a qualified functional check of start, stop and reset rather than treating a brief video as a complete examination.
7. Confirm return and sizing terms
Get the return period, shipping responsibility, insurance and bracelet-adjustment terms in writing. Confirm whether original links, straps, buckles and documents are included. This is particularly important for the official titanium-bracelet configuration that requires client-services adjustment.
Ownership and care
Mechanical self-winding watches benefit from consistent, sensible handling rather than constant intervention. Keep the crown secure, avoid impacts and use a soft microfiber cloth for fingerprints and light surface dust. A loupe and basic spring-bar tools can support a non-invasive strap-change and exterior-care routine, but movement regulation, case opening, gasket replacement and pressure testing belong with Hermès or a qualified watchmaker.
An automatic-watch winder is a plausible accessory when an H08 will remain in storage and you want it running, but it is not necessary for normal wear. Stopping the watch during storage is preferable to using an unsuitable winder; follow the watchmaker’s or manufacturer’s guidance for any winding setting.

Store the watch away from moisture and hard contact, and do not treat the 10-bar rating as permission to skip periodic seal checks.
Is the H08 Chronographe worth it?
It is worth choosing when you want the monopusher chronograph function, prefer the larger 45 mm lug-to-lug and 41 mm case-width format, and accept the $13,000 official US list price cited for the model. It is a poor fit if your priority is the smallest H08 presence, the approximately 50-hour reserve of the standard models or a lower entry price.

Hermès H08 background
The H08 line launched in 2021. Hermès International’s 2025 Universal Registration Document, published in 2026, describes the line as continuing to grow successfully. That history explains why the family now includes several material and complication combinations, but it does not make every H08 reference interchangeable. The individual reference remains the controlling detail for specifications, pricing and service requirements.
Final buying decision
Start with the 42 mm standard H08 if you want the smaller stated dimensions and approximately 50-hour reserve. Move to the 45 mm Chronographe only when its timing function and larger wrist presence are intentional. Within either group, identify the exact material and coating, compare the current Hermès US list price with your budget, verify bracelet or strap sizing, and require provenance and service evidence for a pre-owned watch. A pressure test and professional inspection are more meaningful than a seller’s claim that the watch is “water resistant.”
