The Hermès Slim d’Hermès Quantième Perpétuel in platinum pairs a restrained, typography-led dress-watch design with a dense set of calendar and second-time-zone displays. The current Hermès UK listing identifies reference W053255WW00 as a 39.5 mm titanium-and-platinum watch with an automatic H1950 movement and a 43-hour power reserve. Its calendar handles leap years but will need a manual correction for the Gregorian century exception in 2100.
What is the platinum Slim d’Hermès Quantième Perpétuel?
Reference W053255WW00 is the current Hermès UK product-page reference for this 39.5 mm model. The case combines titanium and platinum rather than being described as solid platinum. Hermès lists a dark-grey dial, with a mother-of-pearl moon set against an aventurine sky, and a graphite matte alligator strap with a platinum pin buckle. The page also specifies anti-glare sapphire crystal, a sapphire caseback and 3-bar water resistance. Hermès’ product page is the source for these current reference details.
There is a color-description difference worth keeping in view: Felix Scholz’s 7 April 2017 hands-on review at Time+Tide describes the introduced platinum edition with a deep-blue dial. That is not the same description as the current Hermès UK listing’s dark-grey dial, and the available descriptions do not establish that they refer to an identical dial or unchanged product version.

How the calendar and displays work
The H1950 is an automatic base movement paired with a perpetual-calendar module. Hermès’ 2015 annual report says the 39.5 mm Slim d’Hermès housed an H1950 calibre developed with Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier. The Foundation de la Haute Horlogerie identifies the perpetual-calendar configuration as H1950 with an Agenhor module. This supports describing the watch as a Hermès/Vaucher-developed base calibre with a calendar module identified by FHH as Agenhor’s, not as a movement whose every component was made by Hermès. The calendar accounts for months of 28, 29, 30 and 31 days, including leap years. Hermès says this removes the need for manual setting at month changes, even in leap years, but its four-year mechanism does not account for the Gregorian century exception. The year 2100 will be an ordinary year, despite the usual four-year leap-year cycle, so the calendar will eventually require manual correction. That limitation is explicitly set out on Hermès’ page.

Beyond the calendar, the watch shows hours and minutes, moon phase, GMT or a second time zone, and a day/night indication. In Scholz’s 2017 description of the blue-dial platinum version, he calls attention to a red accent on the second-time-zone indicator and to the way the mother-of-pearl moon and aventurine sky visually blend. Those are his observations of that reviewed version, not confirmed details of every current dial variant. Time+Tide’s hands-on report provides the dated account.
What the 2017 hands-on review says about wearing it
Felix Scholz described the platinum version as structurally the same as the earlier model, with a 39.5 mm case, H1950 base movement and Agenhor calendar module. His principal wearing impression was that platinum added noticeable heft. He also praised the design as an object lesson in confident watch design. These are the reviewer’s impressions, rather than a current independent wrist test; his review was published on 7 April 2017 by Time+Tide.

The design’s appeal is in the contrast: the Slim name and restrained case proportions meet a face carrying several indications. Whether the result feels composed or busy is a matter of taste, but it is not a minimalist two-hand dial. The current listing’s dark-grey dial and Scholz’s deep-blue example should not be conflated when judging the look of a specific watch.

Water and the leather strap
Hermès specifies 3-bar water resistance, but advises avoiding all contact with water while wearing its leather watches. The rating should not be read as an invitation to swim or use this as a water-oriented watch. The alligator strap also makes it a dress-focused proposition rather than a do-everything sports watch. Power reserve and calendar upkeep
The listed 43-hour power reserve is the manufacturer’s figure. If the watch stops, a complex calendar may require careful resetting; the page establishes the functions and the century-year correction caveat, but does not supply a complete reset procedure here. Use Hermès’ instructions or an authorized watch professional rather than improvising adjustment steps for a high-value perpetual calendar.
Price and historical context
At the time the Hermès UK page was consulted in 2026, it displayed £39,140 for reference W053255WW00. That is a UK regional listing and a volatile figure, not a universal or guaranteed current price. Scholz’s 2017 review reported 38,000 CHF as the historical price for the platinum version; it should not be treated as current pricing. Hermès UK and Time+Tide are the respective sources.

Hermès’ 2015 annual report records that the perpetual-calendar Slim d’Hermès received the GPHG Calendar Watch category award in 2015. This is useful provenance for the model’s history, not a current ranking or a measure of how it compares with today’s alternatives. The dated record appears in the Hermès 2015 annual report.
