Its gold-gradation RA-AA0D04G is the 1,700-piece limited edition; black, red, and green versions were regular variants. The appeal is its period character and useful mechanical-watch details—not professional dive-watch credentials. Orient specifies 20 bar water resistance but explicitly says the watch is “not an ISO standard diver’s watch.”
What the 70th anniversary actually marks
The anniversary belongs to the Orient brand, not to the King Diver model. In a 30 January 2020 announcement, Orient said the collection revisited designs from its 70-year history and identified the King Diver as a reproduction of the 1965 Weekly Auto Orient King Diver. Orient described the original as foundational to the later legacy of its diver watches. That is the company’s historical framing, rather than an independent assessment of the model’s influence. Orient’s 2020 collection announcement.
The revived design retains several distinctive cues: an arrow-shaped hour hand, bar indices, a day display at six o’clock, and a rotating inner bezel operated by its own crown. Those elements give the watch its identity; the bezel is internal rather than the conventional external rotating bezel found on many contemporary dive watches.
Which King Diver was limited?
| Reference | Dial / edition | Band |
|---|---|---|
| RA-AA0D01B | Black; regular variant | Stainless-steel bracelet |
| RA-AA0D02R | Red; regular variant | Stainless-steel bracelet |
| RA-AA0D03E | Green; regular variant | Stainless-steel bracelet |
| RA-AA0D04G | Gold-gradation dial; 1,700 limited editions, according to Orient’s 2020 announcement | Leather strap; serial-numbered anniversary case back |
The gold dial takes inspiration from Orient’s 1970s Jaguar Focus model. The limited reference is not simply a gold-dial version on the regular bracelet: Orient lists a leather strap and a numbered anniversary case back for RA-AA0D04G. The stated 1,700 is a production limit, not a figure for sales, collector demand, or resale performance. Orient’s release identifies the references and edition details.

What Orient specifies
These are manufacturer-published specifications, not independent measurements or test results. Orient lists the following for the revival:
| Specification | Orient’s published figure or description |
|---|---|
| Movement | Japan-made in-house F6922 mechanical calibre; automatic and hand-winding |
| Power reserve | 40 hours |
| Accuracy | +25 to −15 seconds per day |
| Case | 43.8 mm diameter; 14.0 mm thickness |
| Crystal | Curved crystal glass |
| Strap width | 20 mm |
| Jewels and seconds | 22 jewels; hacking seconds |
| Displays and details | Date and day; luminous material; inner bezel |
| Water resistance | 20 bar; Orient states it is not an ISO standard diver’s watch |
The dimensions make this a substantial watch on paper: 43.8 mm across and 14.0 mm thick. The steel bracelets on the regular versions and leather strap on the gold edition also mean the references do not share the same wrist feel or materials. Orient’s published spec table does not establish how the watch wears on a particular wrist.

20 bar does not make it an ISO dive watch
The distinction matters. Orient gives the King Diver a 20 bar water-resistance rating, but explicitly labels it “not an ISO standard diver’s watch.” The name and styling evoke a vintage diver, and the inner bezel adds to that impression; neither overrides the manufacturer’s qualification. Treat it as a vintage-inspired mechanical watch with the stated water-resistance specification, not as an ISO-certified professional dive instrument. Orient’s product specifications include the qualification.
Do not confuse it with the RA-AC0K anniversary diver
Another Orient anniversary release can create confusion: the RA-AC0K, covered by Orient Watch USA in October 2020, is a separate diver-style model with a bronze-colored case and gold-gradation dial. Orient Watch USA gave that model a 2,500-piece limit. That number does not apply to the King Diver: the King Diver RA-AA0D04G’s stated limit is 1,700. The references, design descriptions, and edition counts belong to distinct product stories. Orient Watch USA’s RA-AC0K article.

The hot take: charm first, dive credentials second
The strongest case for the King Diver revival is that it brings recognizable details from the 1965 design into a modern mechanical watch, while the gold limited edition adds a clear anniversary treatment rather than merely changing the dial color. The independently crowned inner bezel, day-at-six display, and arrow-shaped hand make it more characterful than a generic retro-styled diver.
The trade-off is equally clear. The 20 bar rating may sound decisive, but Orient’s own “not an ISO standard diver’s watch” wording should settle the question for anyone shopping specifically for a standards-qualified dive watch. Nor do the available manufacturer materials establish a current-price comparison, market value, or resale outlook. The most defensible verdict is that this is an appealing historical revival for design-minded buyers, not a substitute for a purpose-built ISO dive watch.

Buying notes for US readers
Orient Watch USA lists Amazon.com among authorized US dealers, but its support guidance says warranty coverage applies only when a watch is both sold and shipped by Amazon.com. Other marketplace sellers may appear on Amazon, so check the precise seller and shipper as well as the reference number before relying on warranty coverage. The support page also names Island Watch, Westlake Watches, Watch Surplus, and Teddy Baldassare as US authorized dealers; that does not establish that any currently has RA-AA0D04G in stock.
