Amazfit smartwatch updates are usually delivered through the Zepp app. Keep the watch connected, open its device page, and look for System Update; the exact menu, update and resulting changes depend on the model and release. Updates can add or refine features, change the interface, improve compatibility or provide security fixes—but no single update applies to every Amazfit watch.
How to check for and install an Amazfit update
Zepp typically notifies you when an update is available. You can also check the connected watch’s device page in the app. Amazfit’s general guidance is to keep the watch connected to the phone and Zepp, then follow the on-screen update prompt. Menu wording varies by model.

- Connect the watch: Make sure it is connected to the Zepp app on your phone.
- Open its device page: Select the watch in the app.
- Find the update menu: Open the model’s System Update option and follow the instructions shown there. For the Active 3 Premium, Amazfit documents the path as Device > General > System Update.
- Follow model-specific precautions: Amazfit advises Active 3 Premium owners to keep the battery above 50 percent during installation. Check your watch’s own instructions rather than treating that threshold as universal.

When the release notes specify a different method
Some updates include release-specific instructions. For the GTR 4’s Zepp OS 3.0 update, Amazfit recommended using the watch’s Wi-Fi OTA function and said installation would take some time. That is guidance for that release, not a requirement for all Amazfit watches. Its notes also said previously saved routes needed to be imported again, so check the changelog for migration steps before installing.

What an update can change
Release notes show that updates can affect several parts of a watch’s software. The examples below apply to the named devices and releases—not automatically to every Amazfit model.

How to tell whether a feature applies to your watch
Check the exact model name in the release notes before assuming a feature is available. Zepp OS publishes a compatibility list, while individual changelogs specify which watches receive a particular release. A compatible operating-system family alone does not establish that every feature in a release applies to every watch in that family.
Requirements can extend beyond the watch. For example, the Balance 2 Series August 2026 notes say Notification Forwarding depends on Apple availability in the European Union, iOS 26.5 or later, Zepp App 10.5.5 or later and Apple regional policies. The watch update alone does not guarantee that this feature will be available to every owner.

Zepp Health says it typically maintains security updates for at least two years after a device model’s first shipment; some models may receive three years or longer. This is a general statement about security support, not a guaranteed feature-update period or a schedule for any individual watch. Check the policy’s current end-of-life list for model-specific information. Zepp Health also says it may issue a necessary fix for a very serious vulnerability even when a product is on that list.

What to check before installing
- Model and release: Confirm that the update notes name your watch, not just another model using the same operating-system family.
- Feature requirements: Look for phone, Zepp app, regional or accessory prerequisites.
- Data and settings: Check for migration instructions, such as the GTR 4 release’s direction to re-import old routes.
- Installation instructions: Follow the guidance for your specific model and release, including any battery or connection advice.
- Security status: Consult the security policy and end-of-life list separately from feature changelogs.
