For a normal Amazfit firmware update, use the watch’s System Update screen in the Zepp app. The official instructions reviewed here do not provide a general way to downgrade to an older firmware version, and a factory reset is not documented as a rollback method. First, identify the watch and what went wrong
Recovery steps depend on the exact Amazfit model and may differ by hardware revision. Before changing settings or trying a repair, note the watch’s model, hardware details if available, current firmware version, phone operating system and Zepp app version. Also establish whether the watch starts normally, can connect to Zepp, or cannot enter its system at all.

Update or retry firmware through Zepp
- Connect the watch to the phone. Open Zepp and go to the device page for the watch.
- Open the model’s System Update screen. Menu names and instructions can vary by model. Install an update offered there, following that watch’s manual.

If an update stalls, Amazfit support guidance recommends signing out of Zepp and back in, reinstalling Zepp and reconnecting the watch, clearing Bluetooth shared data and the app cache on Android, and restarting the phone. During the cited upgrade troubleshooting, keep the phone screen on and avoid using it for other tasks. Can you downgrade to an older Amazfit firmware?
No general official downgrade procedure is established in the Amazfit and Zepp materials reviewed for this article. The standard documented route installs an update through Zepp; the sources do not establish that users can choose an older image or safely sideload one. This is not proof that no service route or device-specific exception exists, but it is not a basis for trying an unofficial downgrade.

Will a factory reset roll back or reinstall firmware?
No. The manuals describe factory reset as a device-reset and pairing/setup action, separate from firmware updates through Zepp. They do not say that resetting changes the installed firmware version or reinstalls the system. Zepp OS developer documentation describes a specialized recovery route for applicable devices that cannot enter the system: transferring a system installation package through Zepp. It is not a universal recovery recipe for Amazfit watches, and it does not establish that downgrading is possible. Third-party firmware instructions are model-specific. Gadgetbridge’s example is for the Amazfit Band 5, not a general guide for other Amazfit watches; its documentation warns that installing firmware can brick a device. Before considering any third-party process, verify that its documentation explicitly covers the exact model and revision, explains the firmware components and tool compatibility, and comes from a source you trust. If those details are missing—or the watch is still under support—ask Amazfit for guidance rather than experimenting with firmware files.
Check whether the model still receives updates
Zepp Health says security updates are typically maintained for at least two years after a device’s first shipment, and may continue for three years or longer depending on actual conditions. The company also publishes an end-of-life list for devices no longer maintained for software or firmware updates.
