What movement is inside a stock GA-110?
The GA-110 is an analog-digital watch, not a mechanical watch with an automatic movement. Its two analog hands work alongside digital time and calendar displays, and the stock watch is powered by a CR1220 battery. Casio lists an approximate battery life of two years and accuracy of ±15 seconds per month for the GA-110-1A. Casio’s GA-110-1A product page identifies these as stock specifications.

The hands and layered dial can make the watch look mechanically complex, but that appearance does not indicate that there is a conventional automatic movement behind the dial. The digital displays and analog functions are part of the watch’s electronic module.
Do the GA-110’s outer dimensions leave room for an automatic movement?
Casio lists the assembled GA-110-1A at 55 × 51.2 × 16.9 mm and 72 g. Those figures describe the outside of the watch, not the dimensions of an internal movement cavity. They do not tell you the usable diameter or depth, the clearance beneath the crystal and caseback, or where a movement could be mounted.

Casio’s GA-110 catalog describes a four-layer dial and an inner case that protects the module as part of the watch’s shock-resistant construction. This is a purpose-designed arrangement; it is not evidence of a ready-made mounting path for a mechanical movement.
What would need to be measured for a custom fit?
A meaningful fit assessment would have to start with a specific automatic movement and measurements from the actual watch. At minimum, a watchmaker would need to compare:

- The movement’s diameter and thickness against the usable case space.
- Clearance beneath the crystal and above the caseback.
- The movement’s stem position and how it would align with the case’s crown or controls.
- The dial and hand layout required by the movement against the GA-110’s existing dial and display arrangement.
- A secure mounting method and whether the movement could be serviced once installed.
Casio’s published product information gives overall case dimensions but does not provide those internal measurements, and the available sources do not identify a compatible automatic movement. Without a documented build or measurements, a claim that a particular movement fits would be speculation.

No drop-in automatic conversion, purpose-made kit, or adapter has been established. A custom build might be possible for a skilled fabricator, but it would likely require replacing or adapting the stock module and dial arrangement and making custom mounting parts. That is an engineering possibility, not a tested conversion design.
There is therefore no verified product comparison to make between a GA-110 conversion and a stock watch. For anyone evaluating a proposed build, the useful questions are whether it preserves the GA-110’s appearance and digital functions, how much fabrication it requires, whether the movement fits and remains serviceable, and whether the finished watch’s performance has been independently verified.
Would a converted GA-110 keep its water and shock resistance?
Casio lists the stock GA-110-1A as water-resistant to 200 meters and describes shock-resistant construction around its module. Those ratings apply to the manufacturer’s designed assembly. They should not be assumed to carry over to a watch whose case, module, dial, or mounting arrangement has been altered; the available sources do not certify the water or shock performance of a conversion.
