Reference 1-36-11-01-02-66 combines a 39 × 39 mm stainless-steel case with a silver Stereo Panel dial. The squared, rounded-corner silhouette is the most immediately visible period cue, while the dial concept reaches beyond case shape: Glashütte Original says it draws inspiration from 1970s analogue hi-fi equipment. The brand’s term “Stereo Panel” refers to this audio-equipment inspiration, not to a watch function. The result is a contemporary dial design that evokes the decade without presenting itself as an untouched vintage component.
What connects the collection to the 1978 Spezichron?
Glashütte Original dates the Spezichron’s introduction by VEB Glashütter Uhrenbetriebe to 1978. The manufacturer describes its rounded rectangular “TV shape” as inspired by modernist architecture and says its Calibre 11 ran at 4 Hertz. This makes the Spezichron a useful dated anchor for understanding the “long shadow” of the ’70s: a design language and historical reference carried into a new collection. It does not establish that the modern 70s is a one-for-one reissue of the 1978 watch.
What distinguishes the modern 70s from a vintage replica?
The current reference pairs its period-inspired exterior with modern specifications. The manufacturer lists an automatic Calibre 36-11, a 100-hour power reserve, a 4 Hz frequency, a 9.6 mm case height and 10-bar water resistance. It also describes a silicon balance spring and a sapphire display back. These are specifications for reference 1-36-11-01-02-66, not claims about the historical Spezichron. Glashütte Original describes itself as a German watchmaking manufactory with a tradition reaching back to 1845 and says it designs and produces timepieces almost entirely in-house. Those are the company’s own descriptions of its history and production depth. Its manufactory overview provides that context.
How does the 70s differ from the Seventies Chronograph?
The names refer to related but distinct formats. The 70s is a three-hand automatic watch; the Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date is a 40 × 40 mm chronograph family with a rounded, streamlined case. The brand’s German-language product page lists a lime-green Fusion dial example as limited to 100 pieces. The Seventies Chronograph product page supplies those details.

The chronograph family’s name alone does not make it the same watch in a different dial color: it has a different case size and adds chronograph functionality. The cited pages do not provide a unified comparison of every movement, strap, or configuration across the two families.

What strap options are listed for the 70s?
The official page presents reference 1-36-11-01-02-66 with a black rubber strap and also shows a steel-bracelet version under reference 1-36-11-01-02-71. Glashütte Original says its Groove Lock system lets the wearer change the strap or bracelet without tools, and that additional straps and bracelets can be purchased individually. Check the exact watch reference before assuming another strap or bracelet will fit; the listed system does not establish compatibility for third-party replacements.
