What makes the Farer Moonphase different?
The moon is the visual centerpiece rather than a small detail tucked into a subdial. Farer says its hand-painted moon disc is painted in Geneva and coated with Super-LumiNova, so the display glows in the dark. The effect gives a traditional complication a bolder, more playful presence; that characterization is an editorial assessment of the design, not a measured comparison with other watches.
The display tracks the moon’s apparent cycle across the dial: it waxes from a crescent on the left toward a full moon at the center, then wanes on the right. Farer’s setting instructions say to pull the crown to the first position and turn it anti-clockwise to adjust the moonphase. Movement and case
Farer specifies a Sellita SW288-1 M hand-wound movement, with 18 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 beats per hour and approximately 45 hours of power reserve. Hand-winding makes operating the watch part of the experience: the wearer winds it through the crown rather than relying on wrist motion to power an automatic movement.

The collection’s stated case diameter is 38.5 mm, in steel with a cushion shape, and the watch uses a sapphire crystal. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements. Stratton’s product page separately lists a 43.8 mm lug-to-lug length and 50 m / 5 ATM water resistance; those figures should not be assumed for every earlier Moonphase model. Farer’s Stratton page has the model-specific details.
Original trio and later Stratton
The first Moonphase collection, reported at launch in 2023, comprised Burbidge, Halley and Eddington. Launch coverage describes their distinct dial and moon treatments, but does not establish a complete shared specification set for every model. Stratton is a later offering, not part of that original trio. The table separates what is established for the collection and launch from what Farer currently lists for Stratton.
