First, check the module number on the back of your watch and use the matching Casio manual: PRG-270 regional versions may identify different modules. For module 3414, the documented procedure is bidirectional calibration: hold the watch level and still, calibrate one direction, turn it 180 degrees, then calibrate the opposite direction. Casio’s guide says to finish when the watch displays OK.
Confirm your watch’s module before starting
Casio’s steps below are from Operation Guide 3414, which covers the relevant PRG-270 family. However, regional product support can show another module identifier: Casio Canada lists module 3415 for its PRG270-1. Check the number printed on your watch’s case back, then find the corresponding manual using Casio’s module-number guidance. Follow the button sequence here only if it matches your watch’s manual.

Bidirectionally calibrate the compass on module 3414
Calibrate when the direction readings seem inaccurate. Choose a place similar to where you expect to use the compass—for example, calibrate in an open field if that is where you will take readings. Avoid areas with strong magnetic interference; Casio warns that calibration may not be accurate there.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute- Enter Digital Compass Mode. Use the watch’s mode button to display the digital compass.
- Open calibration settings. Hold A until the magnetic-declination settings begin flashing.
- Choose bidirectional calibration. Press D. The display indicates that the watch is ready to calibrate the first direction.
- Calibrate the first direction. Set the watch on a level surface, facing any direction, then press C. Keep the watch level and do not move it while calibration runs.
- Turn the watch 180 degrees. After the first calibration succeeds, rotate the watch exactly half a turn so it faces the opposite direction. Press C again and keep the watch still while the second calibration runs.
- Verify the result. Look for OK on the display to confirm successful calibration.
The two directions must be exactly opposite one another. Casio warns that an incorrect calibration procedure can result in incorrect bearing readings. If calibration does not complete successfully, repeat the procedure carefully in a suitable location.

Know which adjustment you need
“Compass calibration” can refer to two different settings on the PRG-270: bidirectional sensor calibration and magnetic declination correction. They address different problems and are not substitutes for one another.
Bidirectional calibration: correct the sensor
Use the two-direction procedure when readings seem off or the sensor may have become magnetized. It calibrates the bearing sensor in relation to magnetic north. If you also plan to perform northerly calibration, Casio specifies that bidirectional calibration should come first because it cancels an existing northerly calibration setting.

Magnetic declination correction: adjust for true north
Declination correction adjusts the displayed direction for the local angle between magnetic north and true north. It is a separate setting, not a required part of sensor calibration. For module 3414, the guide gives a correction range from 90 degrees west to 90 degrees east and allows correction to be turned off. Use it if you need the display adjusted toward true north and know the appropriate local declination; otherwise, you do not need to change it just to calibrate the sensor.
