Use the manual for your exact watch
Follow the user manual for winding, crown operation, chronograph use and cleaning. Breitling says the Digital Passport can provide the watch’s manual and warranty status. Because cleaning guidance may vary by model and strap, do not assume that a particular cleaner, polishing product or storage method is suitable for every Breitling.

Keep the case closed
Do not open the watch yourself. Before water exposure, make sure any screw-locked crown and pushers are secured. Never operate the crown or chronograph pushers while the watch is wet or underwater. If you see condensation or water beneath the crystal, promptly take the watch to a Breitling retailer or authorized service center.
Choose the strap with water in mind
Avoid getting leather and textile straps wet. For water-based activities, Breitling suggests considering a metal bracelet or rubber strap. Compatibility depends on the model; check the watch’s reference and ask an authorized retailer if you are unsure which strap fits.

How to interpret a Breitling water-resistance rating
A water-resistance rating is not a promise that the watch can be immersed to the printed depth during normal activity. Breitling explains that ratings reflect pressure on a motionless watch in still water. Movement through water, currents and jets can increase pressure. Its example is that 3 bar (30 m / 100 ft) is technically suitable only for splashes—not a guarantee of safe swimming at that depth. Swimming, surfing, rowing, waterfalls and shower jets can all expose a watch to greater pressure than the rating alone suggests.
Breitling describes 1 bar as equivalent to 10 m, or approximately 33 ft, for explaining the scale. That conversion does not turn the stated depth into a safe real-world immersion limit. Seals also protect against external factors such as perspiration, heat, temperature changes, ultraviolet rays, chemicals, cosmetics and dust, but gaskets deteriorate over time; water resistance cannot be guaranteed permanently.

When to check water resistance
Breitling recommends regular water-resistance checks and suggests testing approximately once a year for watches frequently exposed to water, ideally before occasions when you plan to immerse the watch. For intensive water use, its water-resistance guidance recommends annual seal replacement and service. Treat these as manufacturer recommendations; the appropriate work depends on the watch’s condition and use.
Breitling’s two recommended service intervals
Breitling distinguishes routine maintenance from a more extensive complete service. The intervals and work below are the manufacturer’s stated guidance, not a diagnosis that every watch needs identical work on a fixed schedule.

Actual use matters, particularly frequent water exposure. Ask the service center to explain any additional work it proposes and confirm which service terms apply to your watch.

Breitling says you can send a watch to a service center or drop it off at an authorized retailer. Online service requests are available only in certain countries. Use Breitling’s service information and price list to check the options for your region. The FAQ says prices can be retrieved by entering the first six characters of the model or serial number from the caseback. Cost depends on the model, country, current price list and work required, so a single generic price is not reliable.

During the warranty period, Breitling requires necessary repairs or service to be carried out by an authorized Breitling Service Center for the warranty to remain valid. Breitling’s warranty page describes a two-year international warranty for watches without a Breitling manufacture mechanical movement and five years for manufacture mechanical movements. Check your activated warranty record and the terms that apply to your watch rather than inferring coverage from the model family alone.

Before you hand over the watch
- Find the watch’s exact reference or serial information on the caseback and check the manual and warranty status through the Digital Passport if available.
- Describe how you use the watch, especially regular swimming or other water exposure, and mention any condensation or damage.
- Ask which service is recommended, what work is included, and whether any proposed additional work is necessary.
- Confirm the price and applicable terms with the service center or authorized retailer before approving work.
