Choose an everyday G-Shock by starting with how it fits your wrist and how you want to read the time. Then narrow the choice by the functions you will use, charging type, band material, and water exposure. Casio’s casual-watch recommendations offer useful starting points, but they are brand suggestions—not an independent ranking or comfort test.
Start with fit and display
Compare the exact model’s case dimensions, thickness, band, and overall feel on your wrist. Casio’s catalog offers size filters, but there is no established comparative test showing which G-Shock is most comfortable. A model that looks compact in a photograph may still feel different once its case and band are on your wrist.

Next, choose how you want to read the time. Casio categorizes watches as digital, analog, or digital-and-analog. A digital face may suit someone who prefers a quick numerical readout; an analog-digital face combines hands with a digital display. Prioritize legibility for your routine rather than assuming one format is universally better.

Digital starting points
For casual digital wear, Casio names the DW5600E-1V and GMS5600PG-1 as starting models. Confirm the exact model suffix, dimensions, and display details on the current product listing before choosing; specifications can differ between variants.

Analog-digital starting point
Casio recommends the GAB2100-1A for casual everyday wear and describes it as solar-powered, water- and shock-resistant, and operable by smartphone. Its official GA-B2100CY-1A product page lists Bluetooth, solar charging, and 20-bar water resistance for that specific variant. Check the specifications for the exact suffix you are considering rather than transferring them to every related model. Casio GA-B2100CY-1A specifications
Choose features around your routine
Casio’s catalog lets shoppers filter for solar charging, Bluetooth link, radio reception, and functions including heart rate, compass, barometer, altimeter, temperature, tide graph, and moon data. Those options are useful only when they solve a real need. If you mainly want a watch for the time and date, a simpler model may be a better everyday fit than one with functions you will rarely use.
Rank #2
- Iconic Styles W/Origin Colour
- Smartphone link: Consider Bluetooth if you want the specific phone-connected functions offered by the model.
- Radio reception: Check whether the model supports radio time setting and whether that function suits where you live and travel.
- Sensors and activity data: Look for features such as a compass, altimeter, or heart-rate measurement only if they match activities you actually do.
Casio presents durability, functionality, and style as part of its everyday-watch framing. Treat that as the manufacturer’s guidance, not proof that one model is more durable or comfortable than another. Casio casual G-SHOCK watches

Casio distinguishes Tough Solar from solar-assisted charging: Tough Solar powers all watch functions, while solar-assisted charging powers timekeeping only. “Solar” therefore does not mean identical charging behavior across the range. Check the exact model’s specifications to see which system it uses and what functions the solar system supports. Casio Tough Solar explanation

Pick a band and finish you will enjoy wearing
Casio’s catalog includes band-material filters, and its casual-watch page names the full-metal AWM500-1A as an option for a casual look. A metal design is a preference, not a default: compare the exact model’s weight and feel with resin, cloth, or other available band materials. If possible, try it on before deciding whether its finish and weight work for all-day wear.
Match water resistance to the water you encounter
Water-resistance ratings describe pressure resistance, and Casio presents its activity guidance as general rather than an unlimited guarantee. Read the rating and manual for the exact model. Casio cautions that “waterproof” is inaccurate terminology for watches. Casio water-resistance guidance

| Casio guidance | How to interpret it |
|---|---|
| Everyday-life enhanced water resistance | Casio describes light rain, face washing, and sweating as ordinary everyday exposure. |
| 5 bar | Casio describes this as suitable for everyday use with water exposure, but not high-pressure exposure such as a strong shower. |
| 10 bar | Casio describes this as suitable for swimming and other water-related activity. |
| G-SHOCK standard 20 bar / 200 m | Casio says this supports active use in and around water, including swimming and surfing. It is not the same as an ISO 200 m diving rating. |
| FROGMAN ISO-standard 200 m diving water resistance | Casio identifies the FROGMAN collection for professional scuba-diving use. Choose a dive-rated watch if you intend to scuba dive. |
Casio’s guidance states: “For scuba diving, choose a Casio dive watch with a diver’s rating marked in meters.” Follow the model manual and rating for your intended activity; do not treat a water-resistance number as permission for every kind of water exposure.
