What Fitbit Edge adds
Google calls Edge its next-generation fitness tracker and positions it between Fitbit Air and Pixel Watch. Its announced features include a Hybrid OLED display, customizable watch faces, glanceable tiles, a physical side button, Google Maps, media controls, and call and message notifications. For exercise, Google lists more than 50 modes, built-in GPS, an altimeter, and automatic recognition of up to 100 workouts. These are manufacturer-stated features, not independent findings. Google says Edge has “46% more viewing area than previous trackers” and claims “up to 40% improved tracking accuracy over previous generations” for GPS. Both comparisons are against earlier Fitbit generations, not against Air or Pixel Watch.
Battery and charging claims
Google advertises up to seven days of battery life. Its estimate is based on 2026 testing in California using pre-production hardware and software, default settings, and a median Edge user profile. Actual battery life varies with enabled features, use, environment, and other factors. Google also says a five-minute charge can provide a full day of battery when the device is low, under specified charging conditions and using a 30W adapter, sold separately.

Fit, durability, and repair
Google says Edge is water-resistant to 50 meters and designed for 5 ATM and IP68 ratings; it also says the tracker is not waterproof or dustproof. Google describes Edge as its first repairable fitness tracker, with modular internal architecture and a replaceable battery.
Standard finishes listed by Google are Obsidian, Fog, Olive, and Canyon. Interchangeable band options include Active Sport, Performance Loop, Magnet, and Metal Links. Bands are sold separately, and Google marked Performance Loop as “coming soon” in its announcement. Check current availability before choosing a finish or accessory.

Check health features and regional support
Google says feature availability varies by country and device. ECG and several other health features are limited by country; check local availability rather than assuming a feature works wherever the wearable is sold. Google also cautions that sensor accuracy can vary with physiology, device position, movement, and activity.
