Choose a G-SHOCK by the job you need it to do: the Rangeman GW-9400 is the sensor-focused, solar and radio-controlled option; the Rangeman GPR-H1000 adds GPS and biometric tracking but relies on USB charging for those active features; and Mudman and Mudmaster models offer other sensor and construction combinations. “Survival watch” describes a use case, not a certification or guarantee of safety.
Start with the functions you will actually use
Outdoor-watch features are not interchangeable. Before choosing a model, decide whether your priority is environmental readings, GPS and activity tracking, phone-independent time updates, or resistance to conditions such as mud and water.

- Environmental awareness: Look for an altimeter, barometer and compass—often abbreviated ABC—and check whether a thermometer is included.
- Location or activity tracking: Choose a model that explicitly lists GPS and the tracking functions you want. GPS on a watch does not, by itself, establish that it replaces a dedicated navigation device.
- Charging and timekeeping: Solar timekeeping, USB charging for active functions, radio reception and smartphone connectivity serve different purposes. Check which features use which power source.
- Physical conditions: Match listed resistance features to the expected environment. A specification is not a promise that the watch is indestructible or will keep you safe.
- Display preference: Decide whether you prefer digital or analog-digital. The available descriptions do not establish that one layout is more readable in the field.

Choose the GW-9400 if sensors and independent time updates matter most
The Rangeman GW-9400 combines Triple Sensor readings—altitude, barometric pressure and direction—with a thermometer, Tough Solar power and Multiband 6 radio time reception. It is the clearest fit among these choices if you want environmental readings and radio time updates without making GPS or biometric tracking the priority. See the GW-9400-1 specifications, and verify the exact model suffix on the local listing.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Casio specifies an altimeter measurement range of −700 to 10,000 m (−2,300 to 32,800 ft) and a barometer display range of 260 to 1,100 hPa. Those are instrument ranges, not evidence of accuracy in every setting. Barometric pressure can help you notice a trend: Casio says, “A sudden drop in atmospheric pressure can indicate an oncoming storm.” Treat that as an observation to consider alongside forecasts and conditions, not as a stand-alone weather warning.
Choose the GPR-H1000 if you want GPS and biometric tracking
The Rangeman GPR-H1000 lists GPS reception, heart-rate and blood-oxygen measurement, step tracking, movement analysis, and activity and training functions, alongside the compass, altimeter, barometer and thermometer. It also lists Smartphone Link and dust and mud resistance. Consult the official GPR-H1000 product details for the model configuration.

Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
Pay close attention to charging: Casio says USB charging is used for GPS tracking, heart-rate monitoring, training and smart functions, while the time display is solar powered. That is not the same as solar-powered GPS operation. If you need those active tracking features, account for USB charging rather than assuming sunlight alone will run them.

Mudmaster GWGB1000
The GWGB1000 is an analog-digital Mudmaster listing vibration resistance, Multiband 6, Bluetooth, Tough Solar, altimeter, barometer, compass and thermometer. See Casio’s Mudmaster family page. The feature list can help narrow a shortlist; it does not establish that its display is easier to read than a digital watch.
What “survival watch” does—and does not—mean
These models provide functions that may be useful outdoors, but “survival watch” is not a performance certification. Sensor ranges, water-resistance ratings and shock- or mud-resistance labels are specifications, not guarantees of field accuracy, survival, or safe navigation. Use a watch as one tool among appropriate maps, forecasts, communications and other equipment for your activity.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
Casio lists 20-bar water resistance for the cited Rangeman GW-9400 and GPR-H1000 models. That rating should be read as a product specification, not proof that a watch is suitable for every water activity or condition. Check the model-specific guidance before relying on it.

- List your essential tasks. Decide whether you need compass, altitude and pressure readings, GPS/activity tracking, radio time reception, or phone connectivity.
- Check the power arrangement. Distinguish solar timekeeping from USB-powered tracking and smart functions; do not assume every feature shares the same charging method.
- Match construction and layout to preference. Compare listed resistance features and choose digital or analog-digital based on what you prefer, without assuming an untested readability advantage.
- Verify the precise variant. Regional suffixes, model availability and product details can differ or change. Confirm the local Casio listing for the exact model before buying; no price or stock claim is established here.
If you do not expect to use GPS or biometrics, those features need not drive the purchase. A sensor-focused model may be the more relevant shortlist; if location and training data are central, the GPR-H1000’s added capabilities—and its USB charging needs—are the more pertinent trade-off. Casio’s PRO TREK outdoor-watch family is another Casio line to consider if you want outdoor functions beyond G-SHOCK styling and families.
