How to Export Pixel Watch Sleep Data and Back It Up to a NAS

Google Account users can select Google Health in Takeout, download an archive that may include Pixel Watch sleep data, then copy it manually to a NAS.

You can export Pixel Watch sleep data through Google Takeout, then download the archive to a computer and copy it to your NAS. This is a manual snapshot workflow—not a direct Takeout-to-NAS connection or an automatic recurring backup. For a Google Account, select Google Health in Takeout; the export can include sleep data.

Which export route applies to your account?

Use the route that matches how you sign in. Google’s Google Health export guidance distinguishes Google Account users from people who still use a legacy Fitbit login.

Sign-in type Export route What to expect
Google Account Google Takeout; select Google Health The archive can include sleep data. The reviewed guidance does not establish a sleep-only selection or date-range control for every Google Account.
Legacy Fitbit login not migrated to Google Request a Fitbit account archive or use the selection export described in Google’s export help The archive route requires confirming the request by email and may take up to a few days for a large archive. The selection export lets users choose a period, data, and file format. Do not assume this legacy route applies to Google Account users.

Google’s help describes the export as a copy of Google Health data, including activity, exercise, sleep, and heart rate. Check the options actually displayed for your account; available labels and controls can change.

Export Google Account sleep data with Takeout

  1. Open Google Takeout while signed in to the Google Account associated with your Pixel Watch health data.
  2. Check the product selection. Confirm that Google Health is selected. Google says products with data are selected automatically by default, but selections can be changed. If the interface offers an “All data included” control, inspect it before proceeding.
  3. Choose the delivery method and create the export. For the NAS workflow, choose the option to receive a download link by email. Google also describes delivery to cloud services, but the reviewed instructions do not document a direct export to a NAS.
  4. Wait for the archive email and follow its download link. Google says the link expires in about seven days and the archive can be downloaded up to five times, so retrieve it promptly.
  5. Download the archive to your computer. Google says downloading directly to a computer is easiest in most cases. Keep the original download until you have checked the NAS copy.

Takeout creates an archive, not a live feed. Google warns that changes made after you request an export but before the archive is created might not be included. General Takeout guidance also says some products do not support choosing a time period; do not count on a date range or sleep-only export unless your current account interface explicitly offers it.

  • The Smarter Long-term Way to Store: Unlike cloud storage with recurring monthly fees, a UGREEN NAS enclosure requires only a one-time purchase for long-term use. For example, you only need to pay $459.98 for a NAS, while for cloud storage, you need to pay $719.88 per year, $2,159.64 for 3 years, $3,599.40 for 5 years. You will save $6,738.82 over 10 years with UGREEN NAS! *NAS cost based on DH2300 + 12TB HDD; cloud cost based on 12TB plan (e.g. $59.99/month).
  • Blazing Speed, Minimal Power: Equipped with a high-performance processor, 1GbE port, and 4GB RAM on Board, this NAS handles multiple tasks with ease. File transfers reach up to 125MB/s—a 1GB file takes only 8 seconds. Don't let slow clouds hold you back; they often need over 100 seconds for the same task. The difference is clear.
  • Let AI Better Organize Your Memories: UGREEN NAS uses AI to tag faces, locations, texts, and objects—so you can effortlessly find any photo by searching for who or what's in it in seconds. It also automatically finds and deletes similar or duplicate photo, backs up live photos and allows you to share them with your friends or family with just one tap. Everything stays effortlessly organized, powered by intelligent tagging and recognition.

Copy the archive to your NAS and verify it

  1. Connect to your NAS using the file-transfer method available on your computer and NAS, such as the NAS’s normal shared-folder access.
  2. Create a clearly named folder for the export, for example Pixel-Watch-Sleep-Export-2026-10-12. Use the date you requested or downloaded the archive so you can distinguish snapshots later.
  3. Copy the downloaded archive into that folder. You may also extract it on the computer and copy the extracted files if you want to inspect the contents; retaining the archive preserves the original export package.
  4. Verify the transfer. Check that the expected file or folder is present and compare its approximate size with the computer copy. For stronger assurance, open the NAS copy or inspect its contents before deleting the original download.

These are ordinary file-management checks, not a Google-tested NAS procedure. Google advises storing exported data somewhere safe with enough space; a NAS is not automatically secure simply because it is local storage.

Protect the health-data archive

The archive contains personal health records. Save it in a NAS location accessible only to the people who should see it, and apply the access controls and protections your NAS provides. Google’s health and data privacy information describes Google’s own data practices; it is not an independent security audit of your NAS or its configuration.

Make another backup when you need one

The documented Takeout flow does not provide an automatic recurring NAS backup. To refresh your copy, request a new archive when you choose, download it, and copy it into a separately dated NAS folder. Keeping older dated exports gives you a history of snapshots; the export should not be treated as incremental or as a continuously updated record.

Is the Google Health API a better NAS option?

Not for most personal backups. Google’s developer documentation lists sleep data types and Pixel Watch-compatible devices for the Google Health API sleep experience, but that is a developer route rather than a ready-made personal NAS export. As of October 12, 2026, Google’s API documentation says it is not onboarding new API projects. It also says Fitbit Web API support ends on September 30, 2026, and the legacy API is scheduled to turn off on October 30, 2026. Check Google’s current API page before relying on those time-sensitive details or building an integration.
