The correct setting procedure depends on your Roadster’s reference and movement. The detailed instructions below apply only to a watch confirmed to use Cartier’s Chronoreflex 212P; do not assume they fit every Roadster Chronograph. If you cannot identify your watch, look up its reference in Cartier’s user guide index or contact Cartier before experimenting with crown positions or chronograph-hand correction.
Identify your Roadster before setting it
“Cartier Roadster Chronograph” does not identify one movement or one procedure. Cartier’s guide pages identify the ROADSTER S Chronograph references W6206019 and W6206020, while a retailer separately lists Roadster Chronograph W62019X6/2618. Similar appearance or the collection name alone is not enough to establish which instructions apply.

Cartier’s guide index allows a search by watch name, reference, or collection and provides client-assistance and boutique links. The searchable official pages for W6206019 and W6206020 show a “Time setting” section, but their detailed visual steps are not available as text there. A separate pre-owned listing for W62019X6/2618 confirms another distinct reference, not its setting instructions.
Set time and adjust the date on a confirmed 212P
Cartier’s Chronoreflex 212P technical document, marked 4/2009, defines crown position 0 as no function, position 1 as time-zone adjustment, and position 2 as time setting. These positions and behaviors are specific to the 212P instructions.

Set the hour and minute
- Stop the chronograph if it is running; the document says time setting is performed only when the stopwatch is not running.
- Pull the crown to position 2. Turn it forward or backward to advance the hour and minute hands. Each notch advances the hands one step; holding the crown between notches advances them rapidly.
- Push the crown back to position 0 when the time is set.
The watch and chronograph stop during this time-setting operation. The document links the calendar to time setting and says the date changes at midnight, so take that behavior into account when setting the time around midnight.
Make a one-hour time-zone adjustment
- Pull the crown to intermediate position 1.
- Turn it forward or backward. Each notch changes the time by one hour, while the watch continues to operate.
- Return the crown to position 0.
The 212P instructions also link the calendar to this adjustment and say the date changes at midnight. They do not establish that position 1 works this way on other Roadster movements.

Start, stop, and reset the 212P chronograph
For the 212P’s simple chronograph sequence, P1 starts timing and a second press of P1 stops it. Press P2 only after stopping to reset the counters and chronograph seconds hand. Cartier’s 2009 document states that this simple chronograph function can run for a maximum of 12 hours consecutively.
The same document also describes a separate split-seconds sequence: P1 starts; P2 halts the displayed hands while the electronic counter continues; another P2 resumes or corrects the displayed state; P1 finally halts the timing; and P2 resets it. This is a distinct operating mode, not a replacement for the simple start-stop-reset sequence. Use it only if your confirmed 212P watch and its controls correspond to that mode.

Correct shifted chronograph hands only on a confirmed 212P
Hand correction is a movement-specific procedure, not a general reset for an unidentified Roadster. If the chronograph hands do not return to their expected positions, first confirm the reference and movement.
- Pull the crown to position 1.
- Hold P1 and press P2 three times to enter correction mode.
- Press P2 to advance the chronograph hand step by step; hold it for rapid advance.
- Press P1 to switch correction to the hours-and-minutes counter hands. Press P1 again to end correction.
- Return the crown to position 0.
When the movement or instructions are uncertain
Find the reference on the watch or its documentation, then search Cartier’s guide index by reference or ask Cartier client assistance or a boutique to identify the applicable guide. If the movement cannot be confirmed, do not infer the crown positions from another Roadster or try the 212P correction sequence. A qualified watchmaker can identify the movement and advise on the correct procedure.
