Choose the Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 40mm if you prefer an integrated-bracelet design and a slightly thinner listed case. Both cited automatic models offer up to 80 hours of power reserve and 10 bar water resistance, so their shared headline specifications do little to decide between them.
Which models are being compared?
“PRX” covers multiple watches, so this comparison uses the Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 40mm, reference T137.407.11.041.00, an automatic model. It is not the separate 41 mm PRX quartz chronograph, reference T137.417.11.051.00. The Mido is the green-dial, steel-bracelet Multifort TV Big Date, reference M049.526.11.091.00.

How do their designs differ?
Mido: a TV-shaped case and oversized date
The Multifort TV Big Date stands out with a rounded rectangular case and a large date aperture at 12 o’clock. Mido’s design draws on the TV-shaped cases it used in 1973, 1980 and 2000. In its 15 June 2023 announcement, Swatch Group described the design’s return: “Fifty years after its first appearance, the cult classic TV-shaped case has returned to the brand’s catalogue.”

Tissot: an integrated-bracelet look
The PRX’s defining visual feature is its integrated steel bracelet, which flows into a case inspired by Tissot’s 1978 design. Its dial has a conventional date display rather than the Mido’s oversized date at 12. The PRX is the more natural fit if that streamlined case-and-bracelet silhouette is what you want; the Mido is the more distinctive choice if the case shape and date display matter most.
What do the specifications have in common?
Both watches are automatic, have a see-through case back and sapphire crystal, and are rated by their manufacturers for 10 bar (100 m / 330 ft) water resistance. Each claims up to 80 hours of power reserve. Those figures are close enough that they do not establish a meaningful advantage for either watch on their own.

Mido says its Caliber 80 has a Nivachron balance spring and describes the alloy as reducing magnetic interference and resisting impacts. That is the manufacturer’s description; the published information here does not provide independent comparative performance data. The specifications likewise do not establish that one movement is objectively superior.

The stated case dimensions are not perfectly equivalent: the brands report size differently, and case shape can affect how a watch wears. The thickness figures put the Tissot slightly thinner on paper, but they do not establish which watch will feel better on your wrist. If fit is decisive, try both on before choosing.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which watch should you choose?
Choose the Mido if…
- You want a rounded rectangular, TV-inspired case rather than a conventional integrated-bracelet silhouette.
- You prefer a large, easy-to-spot date display at 12 o’clock.
- You want the cited model’s steel bracelet and 22 mm lug width, while checking strap compatibility for any replacement strap you are considering.
Choose the Tissot if…
- You prefer the PRX’s integrated steel-bracelet design.
- You want the slightly thinner of the two listed case thicknesses, while treating that specification as a starting point rather than a guarantee of better fit.
- You value a quick-release bracelet and want to consider one of the compatible straps listed on Tissot’s page. Confirm fit for the specific reference before buying any third-party strap.
For most buyers, the decision comes down to design and fit rather than the shared reserve or water-resistance rating. Pick the Mido for its TV case and big date; pick the Tissot for its integrated-bracelet look. If neither design clearly wins, try them on and compare local prices for the exact references.
