What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Samsung Health and Google Fit do not connect directly. On Android, the supported workaround is Samsung Health → Health Connect → Google Fit. Samsung Health writes supported activity data to Health Connect, and Google Fit reads it. The connection is permission-based, Android-only, and incomplete: some Galaxy Watch data—including ECG alerts, routes, lap splits, HRV, and minute-level records—may not appear in Google Fit.
What the connection actually does
Samsung confirms that Samsung Health and Google Fit cannot synchronize through a native Samsung-to-Google-Fit connection. A compatible Galaxy Watch can run both apps independently, but installing Google Fit on the watch does not create a shared Samsung Health database.

Health Connect is an intermediary on the phone. It is not a Samsung cloud backup, a direct Samsung-account-to-Google-account migration tool, or a universal converter for every health metric. Each app must support the relevant data type, and you must separately allow Samsung Health to write and Google Fit to read it.
This method does not apply to iPhone. Health Connect is an Android platform; Google Fit on iOS uses Apple Health instead.
Google is also transitioning its health-data ecosystem. Google’s developer documentation says the Google Fit API is supported through the end of 2026. That does not establish an immediate consumer-app shutdown date, but anyone creating a long-term integration should monitor Google’s move toward Google Health.
Samsung’s support explanation confirms the lack of direct synchronization, while Google documents the Google Fit and Health Connect setup.
What you need
- An Android phone with Health Connect available.
- Samsung Health, signed in to your Samsung account.
- Google Fit, signed in to your Google account.
- The latest available versions of Samsung Health, Google Fit, Health Connect, and Galaxy Wearable if you use a Galaxy Watch.
- A Galaxy Watch or phone that has recently synchronized data to Samsung Health.
Samsung Health has supported Health Connect synchronization since version 6.22.5, released in October 2022. Use the current version rather than trying to install that older release. Menu names can vary by Android version, device, region, and app update.
How to set up Samsung Health with Google Fit
1. Update the apps
Update Samsung Health, Google Fit, Health Connect, and Galaxy Wearable through Google Play. If Health Connect is not visible as a normal app, search for it in Android Settings; on some phones it is integrated into the system.
2. Enable Health Connect in Samsung Health
- Open Samsung Health.
- Tap the More options menu in the upper-right corner.
- Open Settings.
- Choose Health Connect or the equivalent connected-services option.
- Enable the data categories Samsung Health should share.
- Accept Consent to the processing of health and wellness data if Samsung Health displays the prompt.
Samsung’s labels may differ slightly. If the option is not visible, update Samsung Health and look for Health Connect under connected services or permissions.

3. Allow Samsung Health to write data
On the phone, open Settings → Apps → Health Connect → App permissions → Samsung Health. Alternatively, open Health Connect and choose Permissions and data → App permissions.
Allow Samsung Health to write only the categories you need. A useful starting selection is:
- Steps
- Distance
- Exercise
- Active calories or energy burned
- Heart rate
- Sleep
- Weight and other body measurements
Health Connect permissions are category-specific. Allowing Samsung Health to share steps does not automatically allow it to share sleep, heart rate, or weight.
4. Connect Google Fit to Health Connect
- Open Google Fit.
- Tap Profile.
- Tap Settings.
- Under Health Connect, turn on Sync Fit with Health Connect.
- Follow the permission prompts.
- Allow Google Fit to read the same categories that Samsung Health writes.
Then open Health Connect → App permissions → Google Fit and confirm that Google Fit can read steps, exercise, sleep, heart rate, or other categories you selected.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
The basic rule is simple: Samsung Health needs write access, and Google Fit needs read access for the same data type. A missing permission on either side can make the setup appear complete while producing no data.
5. Test with new data
- Open Galaxy Wearable and synchronize the watch, if applicable.
- Open Samsung Health and confirm that the new activity appears.
- Open Health Connect and inspect the relevant category, such as Steps.
- Check whether Samsung Health appears as a contributing source.
- Open Google Fit and refresh the relevant dashboard.
Testing a new walk or workout is more reliable than waiting for old records to appear. A complete transfer of your historical Samsung Health archive is not guaranteed.
What usually transfers—and what may not
The following reflects current documented behavior for Samsung Galaxy Watch and Samsung Health data through Health Connect. Availability varies by device, app version, permissions, and region.

| Data type | Typical availability | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Steps | Usually available | Totals may differ; minute-by-minute records may not transfer. |
| Distance | Usually available | Apps may calculate distance differently. |
| Active calories | Usually available | Energy estimates may not match between apps. |
| Exercise sessions | Often available | Routes, maps, lap splits, and other detailed fields may be excluded. |
| Heart rate | Partly available | Exercise heart rate is not the same as resting heart rate, HRV, or ECG. |
| Sleep duration | Often available | Sleep stages and other details may be incomplete. |
| Blood oxygen | Potentially available | Depends on device, permissions, and app support. |
| VO2 max | Potentially available | Not guaranteed in every workflow. |
| Weight and body measurements | Often available | Requires separate body-measurement permission. |
| Floors climbed | Limited or unavailable | Listed by Google among exclusions for Galaxy Watch data. |
| Skin temperature | Limited or unavailable | Not included in the documented Galaxy Watch route. |
| Resting heart rate | Limited or unavailable | Different from general heart-rate records. |
| HRV | Limited or unavailable | Do not assume heart-rate permission includes HRV. |
| ECG and irregular-rhythm alerts | Not expected | These health alerts are not part of the documented Google workflow. |
Google also warns that values can differ between the watch, Samsung Health, Health Connect, and Google’s apps because each may use different inputs and calculations. Treat Google Fit as a compatible view of selected data, not as an exact mirror of Samsung Health.
Is synchronization one-way or two-way?
The dependable workflow is one-way:
Samsung Health writes to Health Connect; Google Fit reads from Health Connect.
Do not assume that a workout or measurement entered in Google Fit will automatically return to Samsung Health. Health Connect has separate read and write permissions, and app support varies by data type. If your Galaxy Watch is the source, keep Samsung Health as the authoritative record and use Google Fit as the destination.
Troubleshooting
Nothing appears in Google Fit
- Confirm the watch has synchronized to Samsung Health.
- Check that the metric appears in Samsung Health.
- In Health Connect, confirm Samsung Health can write that metric.
- Confirm Google Fit can read the same metric.
- Make sure Sync Fit with Health Connect is enabled.
- Reopen both apps and test with a newly recorded activity.
Start with Health Connect rather than Google Fit. If Samsung Health has not written the data there, Google Fit has nothing to read.
Steps exist in Health Connect but not Google Fit
Check Google Fit’s read permission for Steps, then turn Sync Fit with Health Connect off and on again. Also check the date range and contributing sources shown in Google Fit. A permission revoked after an app update can cause this symptom.
Totals are duplicated or different
The phone, Galaxy Watch, Samsung Health, and Google Fit may all contribute activity records. Health Connect is not necessarily a simple copy-and-paste system: apps can aggregate records, apply source priorities, or calculate totals differently.
Inspect the affected category in Health Connect, identify every writing app, and temporarily disable duplicate sources. For the cleanest result, use one primary tracker for steps and workouts, then compare the totals after recording a new activity.

The watch tracks in both apps, but the numbers do not match
This can be expected. Google Fit and Samsung Health may use different sensors, sampling intervals, processing methods, and activity-detection rules. Running Google Fit directly on a Wear OS Galaxy Watch is separate from synchronizing Samsung Health data and does not make the totals identical.
Sleep is missing
First confirm that the watch synchronized to Samsung Health and that both apps have sleep permissions. Samsung Health may process the watch’s sleep record while Google Fit accepts only some sleep fields. Sleep duration and sleep stages are separate categories, so permission for one does not guarantee the other.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsHeart rate, ECG, or rhythm information is missing
Do not treat every missing heart-related metric as a setup failure. General exercise heart rate, resting heart rate, HRV, ECG recordings, and irregular-rhythm alerts are different data types. The documented Google integration does not promise the latter categories, particularly ECG and irregular-rhythm notifications.
Health Connect is missing
Search Android Settings for Health Connect. On newer Android versions it may be part of system settings rather than a separately visible app. If necessary, check Google Play for the official Health Connect component and confirm your phone’s Android version and manufacturer software.
Permissions are present, but data still does not flow
- Open Samsung Health manually after granting permissions.
- Synchronize the watch through Galaxy Wearable.
- Revoke and regrant only the affected permission.
- Check that all apps use the same Android user profile.
- Review battery restrictions for Samsung Health, Google Fit, and Health Connect. Aggressive optimization can delay app activity, although changing it is not a guaranteed fix.
- Record a new test activity instead of expecting a complete backfill.
It worked before an update
Review permissions in Health Connect for both apps. Updates can add new data categories or require access to be approved again. Recheck Samsung Health’s Health Connect setting, Google Fit’s sync switch, and the read/write permissions for the affected metric.

Health Connect lets you control access by app and data category. Grant only the permissions required for your intended workflow, and review them periodically under Health Connect → App permissions.
Recommended Free Tools
Disconnecting an app stops its future access through Health Connect, but another app may retain data it already downloaded. Removing a record from one service does not necessarily erase copies previously stored by another connected service. For sensitive health information, check each app’s privacy controls and retention policy rather than assuming that one deletion removes every copy.

Which setup should you use?
Samsung Health alone
Best when you own a Galaxy Watch and want the most complete Samsung experience, including Samsung-specific sleep, body, and health features. It requires no additional bridge but will not satisfy services that specifically require Google Fit.
Samsung Health plus Google Fit through Health Connect
Use this when a challenge or third-party service depends on Google Fit and your required metrics are supported. It is the official Android route, but it involves permissions, partial coverage, and possible differences in totals.
Google Health plus Health Connect
Google’s current documentation describes Google Health as a destination for health and fitness data shared through Health Connect, including Samsung Galaxy Watch data. It may be a more future-facing option, but availability and features can vary by region. It is not identical to Google Fit.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Google Fit directly on a Wear OS Galaxy Watch
This can be useful if you want Google Fit to record particular activities itself. It creates a separate tracking system, however, and does not provide direct Samsung Health synchronization. Samsung Health remains necessary for some Galaxy Watch functions, including Samsung-specific processing such as sleep tracking.
Third-party synchronization utilities
A utility such as Health Sync may help advanced users who need source and destination combinations that the built-in route does not provide. It also introduces another company with access to sensitive health data, additional failure points, possible costs, duplicate records, and compatibility risks after Android, Samsung, or Google updates. Test Health Connect first, and do not use a third-party bridge for medical or safety-critical measurements without understanding its limitations.
Bottom line
There is no direct Samsung Health-to-Google-Fit sync. For Android users, connect them indirectly through Health Connect, give Samsung Health write permission and Google Fit matching read permission, and verify the result in Health Connect before troubleshooting Google Fit.
Expect selected data—not perfect parity. Keep Samsung Health as the primary Galaxy Watch record, do not rely on a complete historical migration, and remember that Google Fit’s API is scheduled to remain supported only through the end of 2026.
