Its aerospace-grade titanium case, diamond-like carbon coating, ceramic bezel and distinctive Space Edition styling make it more luxurious and potentially more resistant to scratches. Software updates also improve the practical experience, particularly battery behavior, health reporting and GPS performance.
But the core platform remains familiar: a large 49 mm watch with a 1.5-inch AMOLED display, broad health tracking, LTE calling and excellent battery life, paired with a comparatively weak third-party app and payment ecosystem. It is a compelling choice for buyers who value materials, health features and endurance more than Google or Apple services. Existing Watch 4 Pro owners generally should not upgrade unless they specifically want the new finish and design.

What changed from the Watch 4 Pro?
The Space Edition is best understood as an interim refresh or premium replacement for the original Watch 4 Pro. The physical redesign is obvious, but the underlying smartwatch experience is not radically different.

| Display | Still a 1.5-inch, 466 × 466 AMOLED panel | Essentially unchanged |
| Sensors | Broadly the same health and activity platform | Essentially unchanged |
| Software | HarmonyOS and Huawei Health updates improve the experience | Software maturity |
The DLC coating is intended to make the titanium more scratch-resistant, not scratch-proof. There is no evidence here of a new processor, fundamentally brighter display or completely new health platform. The Space Edition’s appeal comes from its finish and presentation, while later software can make it feel more refined than an early Watch 4 Pro review might suggest.
Design, size and comfort
This is a substantial watch. Huawei lists dimensions of 49.1 × 49.1 × 12.9 mm and a weight of about 68 g without the strap. Wareable reported a slightly lower weight for its review unit, but either figure places the watch firmly in the large, heavy premium-watch category.
The materials are the strongest part of the design. Aerospace-grade titanium keeps the case lighter than an equivalent steel construction would be, the sapphire crystal should resist everyday scratching better than ordinary watch glass, and the ceramic bezel and rear case add a polished, high-end feel. The dark DLC finish gives the watch a more distinctive appearance than the standard model.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
That luxury comes with practical compromises:
- Small-wrist users may find the 49 mm case overbearing.
- The weight is noticeable during sleep and exercise.
- The supplied titanium bracelet can move around during workouts.
- A separate silicone, fluoroelastomer or other sport strap is a sensible extra purchase for serious training.
Huawei lists wrist compatibility of 140–210 mm. The watch uses standard quick-release strap compatibility, which makes replacements easier, but buyers should not assume the included metal bracelet is equally suitable for formal wear, sleep and high-sweat exercise.
Display: spacious, sharp and not especially bright
The 1.5-inch LTPO AMOLED display is one of the watch’s practical strengths. Its 466 × 466 resolution and strong OLED contrast leave enough room for detailed workout screens, maps and notifications. Text and graphics look crisp, and the round layout preserves the appearance of a conventional watch.
Outdoor brightness is less impressive. Notebookcheck measured 663 cd/m2 with the ambient-light sensor enabled and 444 nits without it. Those figures are usable, but competing Apple and Samsung watches tested by Notebookcheck were substantially brighter. Reflections can therefore be more distracting in strong sunlight, particularly with dark watch faces or maps.
Notebookcheck also recorded visible 60 Hz OLED flicker. This is not necessarily a problem for most users, but people who are sensitive to display flicker may want to try the watch before buying.

Health tracking: unusually broad, with important caveats
The Space Edition offers one of the broadest health feature sets in Huawei’s smartwatch range. Its sensors and software cover:
- Optical heart-rate monitoring
- Blood-oxygen saturation (SpO2)
- ECG recordings
- Stress tracking
- Sleep duration, stages and breathing information
- Skin-temperature sensing
- Respiratory and sleep-breathing features
- Arterial-stiffness assessment
- Pulse-wave arrhythmia analysis
- Health Glance summaries
The hardware also includes a barometer, compass, gyroscope, accelerometer and depth sensor. Huawei says its TruSeen 5.5+ system improves SpO2 accuracy by 15 percent. That is a Huawei claim; Wareable said the improvement was difficult to verify independently.

Heart-rate performance was more encouraging in Notebookcheck’s controlled testing. Across three performance-heart-rate measurements against a Polar H10 chest strap, the watch produced an average deviation of 0.22 percent. That is a strong result for those test conditions, but it should not be generalized to every workout, body type, fit, skin contact condition or firmware version.
Medical qualification: this is a consumer wearable, not a diagnostic device. ECG, SpO2, arterial-stiffness and arrhythmia features should not replace a clinician’s assessment. Readings can be affected by movement, fit and skin contact, and health functions may have different availability or regulatory status in different countries.
Fitness and GPS
Huawei provides a broad set of workout tools, including running plans, intervals, a virtual pacer, metronome support, route following, multi-sport recording and lactate-threshold-related metrics. The watch can record routes independently, use Petal Maps for navigation and export GPX, TCX and KML files.
GPS performance appears to have improved compared with Notebookcheck’s earlier Watch 4 Pro testing. In its Space Edition review, a cycling route followed the road well. Wareable also reported good GPS results in comparison with an Apple Watch Ultra 2.
There are still qualifications. Wareable observed that some run distances appeared shorter after Strava integration, suggesting that native Huawei Health records and third-party exports should not be assumed to match perfectly. Notebookcheck also reported that automatic workout recognition failed to identify cross-trainer exercise despite the option being enabled.
The watch’s physical design matters during training. The 49 mm case and metal bracelet are less comfortable than a lighter fitness watch with a flexible sport band. Wareable also found that the Space Edition did not add major running features over cheaper Huawei watches such as the GT4. It is therefore a strong all-round health and lifestyle watch, but not automatically the best-value choice for a runner.
Sleep tracking: detailed charts, limited recovery interpretation
The watch records sleep duration, REM, light and deep sleep, wake periods, overnight heart rate, blood oxygen and sleep-breathing information. When paired with a phone, it can also record sleep sounds.
The feature set is comprehensive, but more data does not necessarily mean more reliable interpretation. Notebookcheck noted the absence of a smart alarm. Wareable considered Huawei’s sleep-duration estimates generous compared with Whoop and Oura, and found the watch relatively insensitive to brief awakenings.
It also lacks the readiness scores, sleep-debt analysis and deeper recovery coaching offered by specialist services. Treat the sleep charts as useful trends rather than clinical measurements or definitive sleep-stage analysis.
Battery life and charging
Battery endurance is one of the Space Edition’s clearest advantages over many Wear OS watches. Huawei’s official figures specify 4.5 days of typical use in Standard mode, 12 days of typical use in Ultra-long Battery Life mode and up to 21 days under stated low-use conditions. Huawei also quotes up to six days in Ultra-long mode with the always-on display enabled.
Rank #3
- STYLISH DESIGN, BRIGHT DISPLAY: The sleek stainless steel build blends classic style with workout durability, while the bright 1.32" AMOLED display keeps your data easy to read, even under bright sunlight.
- PRECISE HEART RATE AND SLEEP TRACKING: Amazfit's BioTracker technology tracks your heart rate and sleep data with accuracy that previous sensors just can't match.
- UP TO 10 DAYS OF BATTERY LIFE: With long battery life that lasts up to 10 days with typical use, nightly recharges are a thing of the past.
- FREE MAPS WITH TURN DIRECTIONS: Stay on-track with free downloadable maps, and get turn-by-turn guidance on-screen or via your Bluetooth headphones. Enjoy ski maps for global resorts, including guidance for cable cars, slopes, and more.
- FASTER AND MORE ACCURATE GPS TRACKING: 5 satellite positioning systems ensure fast GPS connection and accurate positioning whenever you're out running, walking, cycling or hiking.
Those are laboratory figures based on defined settings and usage assumptions, not a normal-use guarantee. Independent results are more useful for setting expectations:
- Notebookcheck achieved approximately four days with all sensors and the always-on display enabled.
- Wareable reported around three days with the always-on display enabled.
- Wareable found that Ultra-long mode could approach 20 days, but with significant loss of connected functionality.
- Notebookcheck measured a 70 percent charge in 35 minutes and a full charge in approximately 50 minutes using a 33 W power supply.
| Mode | Benefit | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | Full smartwatch functions, connected services and LTE features | Roughly several days of battery life |
| Ultra-long | Much longer endurance | Internet-connected functions and some features are limited or unavailable |
| Always-on display | More convenient glanceability | Shorter runtime |
The practical expectation is three to four days with demanding settings, not 21 days. Ultra-long mode is useful for travel or emergencies, but it changes the watch into a much simpler device.
LTE calls, notifications and phone compatibility
The built-in microphone, speaker and eSIM support allow standalone calls without a Bluetooth connection to the phone, where the carrier and region support activation. Depending on the operator, the watch may use a shared number or a separate eSIM number, and a compatible wearable plan may cost extra.
Before buying for LTE, confirm all four points with the carrier:
- Huawei Watch eSIM activation is supported.
- The intended watch model and regional firmware are eligible.
- The plan offers the required shared-number or separate-number arrangement.
- The monthly fee and activation process are acceptable.
MeeTime calling is restricted to Huawei-phone pairings. Notifications work, but Android setup is more complicated than Wear OS setup. Huawei Health is required, and Android users may need to install it through Huawei’s AppGallery or an APK rather than Google Play. Notebookcheck found that an APK-only installation could restrict functions, including notification delivery, while AppGallery provided the more complete result in its test.
Android and iPhone compatibility does not mean feature parity with a Pixel Watch or Apple Watch. iPhone owners can pair the watch, but should not expect Apple Watch-level system integration, Apple Pay or the same depth of interaction with Apple’s services.
Apps and payments are the central compromises
Huawei Health itself is extensive, and health and fitness data are genuine strengths. Strava integration is available, and Notebookcheck was able to control Spotify through a third-party provider. However, those advantages do not amount to a full mainstream smartwatch ecosystem.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Wareable and Notebookcheck both criticized the limited selection of meaningful third-party apps. NFC hardware is present, but supported wrist-payment services and bank coverage are highly restricted; in the relevant European testing markets, there was no practical payment experience comparable with Apple Pay or Google Wallet.
Other limitations include limited notification control and a Celia assistant that trails the assistants available on competing platforms. This is the most important buying warning: the watch’s price pays for materials, sensors, LTE and battery endurance, but the software ecosystem is weaker than Apple’s and Wear OS’s.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Diving and water resistance
The watch is rated at 5ATM, and Wareable reports that it retains EN13319 support for 30 m free diving with built-in diving applications. That makes it more interesting for recreational swimmers and free divers than many conventional smartwatches.

- Smaller-sized smartwatch with a bright, colorful display, stainless steel design, and built-in flashlight; up to 10 days of battery life gives a more complete picture of your health
- Make improvements to promote a healthier lifestyle and know your body better with extensive health monitoring features, including wrist-based heart rate, Body Battery energy monitoring, fitness age, stress tracking, meditation and more (device data presented is intended to be a close estimation of metrics tracked)
- Get a sleep score and personalized sleep coaching, including recommendations for how much sleep you need, tips on how to improve, alignment on your inner sleep cycle by using circadian rhythm and more; breathing variations feature uses Pulse Ox to check your level of variations while sleeping (this is not a medical device, and device data presented is intended to be a close estimation of metrics tracked; Pulse Ox is required and not available in all countries)
- The health status feature looks for changes in your health data that could indicate added stress to your body for key metrics such as heart rate, HRV, skin temperature and more, which could be related to factors such as physical activity, potential illness or other health changes (device data presented is intended to be a close estimation of metrics tracked)
- Log custom or preset daily behaviors — such as caffeine and alcohol intake — and view reports in the Garmin Connect smartphone app on how lifestyle choices may impact your sleep, stress and HRV to help you make more health-conscious decisions (device data presented is intended to be a close estimation of metrics tracked)
However, 30 m free-diving support is not the same as unlimited scuba capability or a professional dive computer. Water resistance can decline through wear, impact or damage. Follow Huawei’s operating restrictions, maintenance instructions and recommendations for the intended activity.

Notebookcheck cited a European review-time RRP of €649. Wareable listed a UK price of £549 in its review. These prices are tied to those markets and review periods; they are not a current universal price, and currency conversion would not reliably predict local retail pricing.
Wareable reported no official US launch as of July 14, 2026. US buyers should verify current official availability rather than relying on imported listings. A grey-market unit may have different firmware, no local warranty, unavailable health functions, incompatible eSIM support or regional payment restrictions.
Huawei’s UK Watch 4 purchase page provides store context, but its page content did not expose a current product price. Check the relevant Huawei store and carrier directly before placing an order.
Huawei Watch 4 Pro Space Edition versus alternatives
Apple Watch Ultra 2
For iPhone owners, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 is the stronger ecosystem product. It offers a much larger app environment, Apple Pay, deeper iPhone integration and extensive safety features. It is the better choice if platform integration and payments matter more than Huawei’s battery life and health-feature mix. It is not an Android option.

Samsung Galaxy Watch
A Galaxy Watch is the more natural Android alternative for buyers who want Wear OS apps, a brighter display and payment support in supported markets. Huawei generally has the battery-life advantage, while Samsung provides broader mainstream smartwatch integration.
OnePlus Watch 2
The OnePlus Watch 2 is a lower-cost Wear OS alternative with multi-day battery appeal and access to a richer app platform. In the comparison cited by Notebookcheck, it lacks the Huawei watch’s eSIM option, and it does not target the same premium titanium-and-ceramic design.
TicWatch 5 Pro Enduro
Wareable cited the TicWatch 5 Pro Enduro at $399 during its review comparison, but that is a review-time price signal rather than a verified current price. It offers a cheaper route to Wear OS, while the Huawei watch has the stronger health-feature and diving proposition in the cited coverage.
Huawei GT-series watches
A Huawei GT-series model is likely the better value choice if your priorities are workouts, battery life and Huawei Health rather than LTE, ECG, premium materials and diving features. Wareable found no major running advantage in the Space Edition over cheaper Huawei models such as the GT4.

Verdict
The Huawei Watch 4 Pro Space Edition is a handsome, capable luxury health-and-fitness smartwatch whose best features are its materials, broad sensor package, LTE option and battery endurance. Independent testing also suggests strong heart-rate performance and improved GPS behavior compared with the earlier Watch 4 Pro experience.
It is not a convincing platform upgrade. The display is still relatively dim, the watch is large and heavy, the supplied bracelet is awkward for serious workouts, and apps and payments remain far behind Apple Watch and Wear OS. The Space Edition is worth considering for buyers who specifically want Huawei’s health tools, premium design and long battery life. It is difficult to justify for mainstream smartwatch buyers who expect payments, apps and deep phone integration.
For existing Watch 4 Pro owners: keep the original watch unless you specifically want the DLC finish, ceramic Space Edition styling or the practical benefits of newer software updates. For new buyers: purchase only after checking local eSIM, health-feature, payment and warranty support.
