It launched four distinct premium watch families: the Watch GT 5, Watch GT 5 Pro, Watch D2 and Watch Ultimate Golf Edition.
Together, they covered mainstream fitness, premium sports, ambulatory blood-pressure monitoring and luxury golf and expedition use. That distinction matters: the GT 5 is the general-purpose choice, the Pro is a materials-and-features upgrade, the D2 is a health-monitoring specialist, and the Ultimate Golf Edition is an expensive niche product.

Huawei Watch GT 5: the mainstream premium model
The Watch GT 5 is the lineup’s broadest recommendation. Huawei offers it in 46 mm and 41 mm versions, with metal construction and stainless-steel variants depending on the configuration. The smaller model is more practical for many wrists; the larger model provides Huawei’s longer battery claim.
Both sizes support more than 100 workout modes, along with running-form analysis, route navigation, cycling tools and a golf-course mode. Health features include heart-rate, blood-oxygen, sleep and respiratory-related monitoring through Huawei’s TruSense system.

- 46 mm: up to 14 days maximum, 9 days typical, or 5 days with the always-on display enabled.
- 41 mm: up to 7 days maximum, 5 days typical, or 3 days with the always-on display enabled.
The typical figures are the more useful starting point. GPS use, calls, music, notifications, health monitoring and an always-on display can all reduce runtime. Huawei says actual endurance varies with settings, usage, environmental conditions and product differences. See the official Watch GT 5 page and specifications for the applicable conditions.
Watch GT 5 Pro: what the premium costs more for
The GT 5 Pro is not simply a larger GT 5. Its principal upgrade is construction: selected models use titanium or ceramic, while exact materials and finishes vary by case size and region.

It also adds ECG analysis functionality in supported markets and configurations. Both GT 5 families use TruSense and offer broad health and fitness tracking, but the Pro is aimed more squarely at buyers who care about premium materials, golf, diving-related activities and outdoor sports.
That does not make it automatically better for every wearer. Someone who mainly wants steps, sleep tracking, notifications and occasional workouts may receive most of the practical benefit from the standard GT 5. The Pro’s premium is easier to justify when the case material, ECG availability or specialist outdoor features are central to the purchase.
Exact specifications vary by market, so consult Huawei’s GT 5 Pro product page and a relevant regional specification page.
Watch D2: a blood-pressure-monitoring specialist
The Watch D2 is the unusual product in this launch. It uses a square design with a 1.82-inch display and is built around ambulatory blood-pressure monitoring rather than luxury sports styling.
Huawei positioned it to run a 24-hour blood-pressure measurement programme. The launch coverage also referenced NMPA and MDR certification, but certifications and permitted medical functions are jurisdiction-specific. They should not be generalized into a claim that the watch is universally approved as a diagnostic device.

For a person managing hypertension, the D2 should be treated as a monitoring tool to discuss with a clinician—not as a replacement for clinical care or a validated medical cuff. Buyers should check whether the blood-pressure feature, its measurement programme and the relevant regulatory authorization are available in their country.

Watch Ultimate Golf Edition: a luxury specialist
The Watch Ultimate Golf Edition sits above the GT range in price and positioning. Huawei presented it as a golf-focused version of the Ultimate line, with a premium design treatment and tools including play-distance and shot-distance information, AI Caddie and an enhanced Expedition mode.
It can also import expedition routes. Those capabilities make it relevant to serious golfers and outdoor users who value specialist analytics, rugged luxury construction and the Ultimate design. They do not make it the best-value everyday fitness watch.
At a reported European launch price of £749.99, the Ultimate Golf Edition is a discretionary luxury purchase. Its value depends heavily on how often the owner golfs or uses expedition functions, and on whether the materials and design justify the price to that buyer.

Battery and water-resistance claims in context
Huawei’s GT 5 figures are attractive because they are measured in days rather than hours, but maximum battery claims describe controlled test conditions. Always-on display use, frequent GPS activity, Bluetooth calls and other demanding features move real-world endurance toward the lower figures.
The GT 5 page lists both 5 ATM and IP69K protection. These ratings should not be interpreted as permission for unrestricted diving:
- 5 ATM refers to resistance under specified static-pressure testing; it does not mean the watch can safely be worn to a depth of 50 metres.
- IP69K concerns high-pressure, high-temperature water jets and is not protection against every type of water exposure.
- Huawei advises cleaning and drying the watch after water activities and notes that resistance can decline with wear.
Neither rating makes a watch indestructible or suitable for every shower, hot-water or diving scenario. Read Huawei’s conditions on the official product page.

Software, phones and regional restrictions
The GT 5 is compatible with Android and iOS and integrates with the Huawei Health app. Listed functions include Bluetooth calling, Watch AppGallery, route navigation, maps and on-wrist keyboard input through Celia Keyboard.

However, “compatible with iPhone” does not mean feature parity with an Apple Watch. Before buying, verify notification handling, reply options, app installation, payments, navigation, voice-assistant functions and health features for the specific phone and country.
Huawei also promoted optional Health+ content. A three-month offer existed in selected European and nearby markets, but it is a regional launch promotion rather than a permanent or worldwide entitlement. Terms and eligibility can change.
Health readings—including ECG-related results and blood-pressure measurements—are for supported markets and intended uses. Huawei’s product information describes monitoring data as reference information, not a diagnosis or substitute for medical advice.
Which Huawei watch should you choose?
- Choose the GT 5 if you want the best balance of price, battery life, everyday health tracking and fitness features.
- Choose the smaller GT 5 if wrist comfort is more important than maximum battery endurance. Huawei’s current global designation is 41 mm, although some original launch coverage called the smaller model 42 mm.
- Choose the GT 5 Pro for titanium or ceramic construction, supported ECG functionality and more specialized sports or outdoor features.
- Choose the D2 only when ambulatory blood-pressure monitoring is the main reason to buy and the function is supported in your market.
- Choose the Ultimate Golf Edition if golf, expedition tools and luxury construction matter more than value.
How the alternatives differ
The right alternative depends primarily on the phone and ecosystem already in use:
- Apple Watch is the natural comparison for iPhone owners who prioritize Apple integration, messaging and third-party apps. It is not suitable for Android users and generally is not the first choice for multi-day battery life. Visit Apple’s official Watch store.

2026 buying context
The announcement was a September 2024 event. By August 2026, the GT 5 generation is not necessarily Huawei’s newest mainstream GT generation in every market, so it should not automatically be described as the company’s current flagship.
For a purchase today, check the local Huawei storefront for stock, current prices, case sizes, included straps, supported health features and promotions. The original £229.99, £329.99, £349.99 and £749.99 figures are useful for understanding the launch, but they are not current global prices.
The bottom line
Huawei’s September 2024 event was best understood as a segmented premium-wearable portfolio, not a single GT 5 launch. The GT 5 targets most fitness buyers, the GT 5 Pro adds materials and specialist features, the D2 focuses on blood-pressure monitoring, and the Ultimate Golf Edition serves a luxury golf and expedition niche. Choosing among them requires weighing ecosystem support, market-specific health features, wrist size, battery expectations and the value of each specialist function—not simply selecting the most expensive model.
