Competent basic timekeeping in his use
During the time he wore it, Peñate found the quartz movement consistent enough for ordinary use. He did not compare it with a reference clock or record an accuracy measurement, so the review supports a modest conclusion: it behaved normally for him, not that its precision has been verified.
Comfortable enough, despite its size
Although the watch felt larger than Peñate usually prefers, he found it comfortable enough on his wrist. His account is about his own fit and preferences; it does not establish how the case will wear on other wrists.

Where did the $23 feel like it had been shaved out?
The strap was the main practical drawback
Peñate considered the supplied strap poor enough to put him off wearing the watch often. That matters more than a cosmetic quibble: a watch can tell time adequately and still be an inconvenient daily choice if the part that touches the wrist makes it unpleasant to wear.

The case felt very light
Peñate describes the case as very light. That may suit someone who prefers a watch that does not feel substantial on the wrist; for him, it contributed to the impression of a budget product.
The date and crystal were less polished
The date window was too small for Peñate’s taste, and he found the crystal more reflective than he wanted. Those details do not stop the watch from showing the time, but they make the dial less convenient in the situations where a quick glance should be easiest.

Resetting the minute hand took care
Peñate reports that the minute hand jumped when he pushed the crown back in, which made precise alignment harder. This is an observation from one watch and one reviewer; it is not evidence of a general defect or its frequency across units.
What does the review establish about battery life and accuracy?
It does not establish either as a measured result. Peñate did not track the watch against a reference clock, and he did not keep it long enough to observe the battery running out. His thought that the battery might last two to three years is an estimate, not a battery-life test. The review therefore supports neither a verified accuracy figure nor a confirmed replacement interval.

Would he keep it?
Yes, but not as a regular watch. Peñate calls the result a watch with “a few predictable weaknesses” and “a surprising amount of basic competence.” He says he is keeping it as a curiosity, while expecting the strap to keep it out of his usual rotation. He also names the Timex Weekender as what he would personally buy instead; the review does not provide a controlled comparison or establish a current model or price.
So, how bad can it be?
In Peñate’s experience, not especially bad at the basics. The dial was easy to read, the lume helped with a quick dark-room check, and timekeeping seemed consistent during his limited use. The compromises were tangible: a strap that discouraged wear, a very light feel, a small date, unwanted reflections and a crown-reset quirk. His conclusion is mixed but more favorable than he expected: the watch was useful as a low-cost collecting curiosity, not a daily pick he wanted to reach for.
