Jérôme Lambert’s return as Jaeger-LeCoultre CEO is both a homecoming and a statement of priorities: unite the Maison’s heritage, distinctive style and technical creativity while adapting its watchmaking without losing its signature. In a July 2025 interview, he also explained how The Collectibles turns restored historic watches into a living part of the brand’s story. His comments point to direction, not a detailed product roadmap: he named smaller watches and movements as possibilities but announced no specific model or launch date.

Why did Jérôme Lambert return to Jaeger-LeCoultre?

Richemont announced on November 29, 2024 that Lambert would become Jaeger-LeCoultre’s CEO effective January 1, 2025. He was then Richemont Group Chief Operating Officer and had previously led both Jaeger-LeCoultre and the group. He described the appointment as a return to the place where he first entered Swiss watchmaking. Richemont’s announcement calls Jaeger-LeCoultre a Maison founded in 1833, with more than 1,400 calibres and more than 430 patents; it also describes 180 skills brought together under one roof. Richemont’s appointment announcement provides the formal context.

Lambert’s earlier Jaeger-LeCoultre CEO tenure ran from 2002 to 2013, according to the interviewer at Monochrome Watches. He later worked at Montblanc and Richemont. In the 2025 conversation, Lambert said his first years at the Maison shaped how he understands luxury, watchmaking and the values he uses to assess the business. The return therefore brings him back not only to a familiar leadership role, but to the place he says helped form his approach.

What are Lambert’s plans for Jaeger-LeCoultre?

Bring heritage, style and technical creativity into harmony

Lambert described Jaeger-LeCoultre as a combination of style, elegance, history, technical creativity and mastery. His mission, as he put it, is to bring these elements together: “So my first and perhaps only mission is to make sure that we have fusion between these elements.” He added, “We need to find and keep harmony in a very creative, surprising and innovative way.” These are broad strategic aims, not measurable targets or a list of promised releases.

Adapt the watches without losing the signature

Lambert said fine watchmaking is changing quickly, but adapting does not mean abandoning the Maison’s style. One possible adjustment he mentioned was smaller watches and movements. He did not identify a future model, give a launch date or describe this as a formal product commitment. He also praised the manufacturer’s talent and said the Reverso program already showed development.

In a separate interview published in April 2026, Lambert later described moving back from seven years at group level to work closer to product and creative operations, and spoke of wanting Jaeger-LeCoultre to be an industry benchmark. That later perspective adds context, but it should not be mistaken for part of his 2025 remarks. Monochrome Watches published both conversations; the 2025 interview is dated July 2, 2025.

What is Jaeger-LeCoultre The Collectibles?

The Collectibles is the Maison’s program for selected historic Jaeger-LeCoultre watches that it acquires, restores and makes available to collectors. The July 2025 interview took place in Paris during the launch of the program’s fourth collection. Lambert said the idea grew from the Maison’s ongoing work to acquire and restore historic watches and build or rebuild its heritage collection. Some of those watches, he explained, are especially interesting to collectors, so the program offers a way to return selected pieces to collectors while showing parts of the Maison’s history.

Lambert framed the appeal as more hands-on than simply reading about a watch. “With a book, which is also fantastic, the interaction is more limited than when you say: we restore it, you can acquire it, and now it can be part of you, as it is part of us.” In that sense, The Collectibles connects a restored watch’s future ownership to the Maison’s own historical record. Lambert said the selection process is sophisticated and that the program has brought attention and equity to the Maison; those are his assessments, not independently reported measures of sales or financial impact.

Why the program reflects Jaeger-LeCoultre’s history

Lambert linked the story to the Jaeger name, Edmond Jaeger, the Duoplan and the 1934 merger of workshops in France with the rest of the brand to form Jaeger-LeCoultre. He described the Maison’s identity as a blend of high-end Swiss watchmaking mastery and a distinctive stylistic signature, especially in shaped watches such as the Reverso. The program’s historic pieces make that combination tangible: they are objects to collect, but also examples of the changing forms and technical work behind the name.

Is The Collectibles the same as a certified pre-owned program?

No. In Lambert’s description, The Collectibles is a selective heritage program centered on chosen historic watches and the stories they carry. A broader certified pre-owned (CPO) program would be a more structured pre-owned sales offering. He did not announce such a program in the interview.

Lambert said the Maison restores Jaeger-LeCoultre watches from any era and provides a certificate of origin when it works on a watch. He said he did not immediately see a need to add another certification layer for restored watches. He did not rule out a structured pre-owned program, but said it would demand significant attention and energy; at the time of the interview, the priorities were building restoration capacity and focusing on the products. These comments describe his position in July 2025, not a guarantee of current service terms in every location.

What does Lambert’s auction story show—and not show?

Lambert recounted a 1920s Jaeger watch, an Asymétrique signed Jaeger-LeCoultre on the dial, that was announced at a small French auction for €800–€1,000 and, according to his account, reached €55,000. He used the story to illustrate the dedication of the collector community and the importance of heritage.

It is one anecdote, not a typical auction result, a verified market average or evidence that vintage Jaeger-LeCoultre watches will appreciate. The interview does not provide broader sales or demand statistics for The Collectibles.
