The Bell & Ross BR-X5 Green Lum (reference BRX5R-LUM-TC/SRB) is a limited-edition 41 mm automatic watch whose upper and lower case plates and bezel plate are made from green-glowing LM3D composite. A DLC-finished Grade 2 titanium container surrounds its movement. “Fully luminous” describes that case construction—not every part of the watch: the dial is matte black, while the hands and indices use Super-LumiNova.
What makes the BR-X5 Green Lum glow?
Bell & Ross uses LM3D for the visible upper and lower case plates and the plate set into the fixed bezel. The company describes LM3D as a composite combining quartz fiber, luminescent material and resin binder. It says the quartz fiber helps diffuse light and maintain consistent color and brightness. Bell & Ross also claims the material is as strong as carbon fiber and “70% lighter than steel”; those are manufacturer claims, not independently verified comparisons in the available sources. The luminous composite is not the watch’s entire case. A microblasted, DLC-finished Grade 2 titanium container houses the mechanism, and the fixed bezel is also Grade 2 titanium beneath its luminous-composite plate. The crown screws down and is protected by a titanium guard.
The dial is matte black, with black-varnished applied indices and skeletonized hands coated in Super-LumiNova. A black 60-minute flange has green transfer. Movement, layout and everyday considerations
The BR-CAL.323 is an automatic mechanical movement with an approximately 70-hour power reserve. The reserve display at 9 o’clock gives it a visible counterpart to the date at 3 o’clock. The 100 m rating is the manufacturer’s stated water resistance; it should not be read as an independent assessment of performance in use.
At 41 mm wide and 12.80 mm thick, this is a substantial square-cased watch. Those dimensions, its conspicuous green case elements and black rubber strap are useful points to consider when deciding whether its proportions and look suit your wrist and intended wear. The available specifications do not establish how brightly the case glows, how long it glows, or how the watch performs in hands-on use.
