Casio’s GMW-B5000D-2 and GM-B2100AD-2A are full-metal G-SHOCKs with blue accents, solar charging, Bluetooth smartphone connectivity, shock resistance and 200-meter water resistance. The GMW is a square digital 5000-series watch with Multi Band 6 radio control; the GM is a 2100-series analog-digital watch with a blue dial and no radio-control feature listed by Casio. Their main practical difference is therefore the display and time-correction options, not their shared core construction.
What is the difference between the GMW-B5000D-2 and GM-B2100AD-2A?
The GMW-B5000D-2 takes the familiar square 5000-series form and uses a digital display. The GM-B2100AD-2A belongs to the octagonal-bezel 2100 series and combines analog hands with a digital display. Both use stainless-steel exteriors and blue details, but the blue treatment sits in different places: around the GMW’s face and across the GM’s dial.

Figures and features in the table are from Casio’s GMW-B5000D-2 specifications, GM-B2100AD-2A specifications and Singapore launch comparison. Casio’s product specifications list case dimensions and weight; the launch page supplies the world-time comparison and lighting details.
How do the blue accents and full-metal construction differ?
On the GMW-B5000D-2, the blue vapor-deposition detail picks out the face’s brick pattern, paired with an inverted negative LCD. On the GM-B2100AD-2A, Casio describes vapor deposition across the dial. The company says the material selection and color calibration are intended to preserve light reception for Tough Solar charging. These are Casio’s descriptions of the design and manufacturing approach, not independent assessments of charging performance.

Casio describes both watches as stainless-steel full-metal models. Its launch article says the bezel and case are forged, cut and polished, with hairline finishing on top surfaces and mirror finishing on beveled edges. The company also describes fine resin cushioning between the stainless-steel bezel and case, and a three-pronged band connection intended to disperse shock. Those construction details explain Casio’s design; they do not establish comparative scratch resistance or durability in use. See Casio’s design feature on the two blue models for its account of the finishes and production.
Does the GMW-B5000D-2 have Multiband 6?
Yes. Casio lists Multi Band 6 radio control as well as Bluetooth smartphone time adjustment for the GMW-B5000D-2. The GM-B2100AD-2A is listed with Bluetooth smartphone adjustment, but Casio does not list Multi Band 6 for that model. Bluetooth adjustment provides a shared way to correct time through a connected phone; the GMW additionally offers radio time calibration.

Are the GM-B2100AD-2A and GMW-B5000D-2 solar powered?
Yes. Casio identifies the GMW-B5000D-2 as solar powered and the GM-B2100AD-2A as Tough Solar. Both are rated for 20 bar, or 200-meter, water resistance. The cited specifications do not establish battery life for a particular charging routine or a measured performance comparison, so these ratings should be read as listed product specifications rather than promises about an individual owner’s use.
How big and heavy are these full-metal G-Shocks?
Casio lists the GMW-B5000D-2 at 49.3 × 43.2 × 13 mm and 167 g, and the GM-B2100AD-2A at 49.8 × 44.4 × 12.8 mm and 165 g. By those figures, the GM is slightly longer and wider, while the GMW is slightly thicker and heavier. Measurements alone do not predict wrist comfort: case shape, bracelet adjustment and individual fit also matter.

- Enhance your style with some seriously sophisticated timekeeping from the 5000 line
- Directly descended from the first-ever G-SHOCK , the GMW-BZ5000 carries on the evolution of function and material in a transformative, unprecedented design
- They kept the iconic form of the original G-SHOCK, while developing a new structure that extends the case all the way to the lugs to even further mitigate shock transmission
What functions do the two models share?
Casio’s launch comparison lists five daily alarms, a 1/100-second stopwatch, a countdown timer, Bluetooth smartphone link and 20-bar water resistance for both. Their world-time descriptions differ: the comparison lists five selectable times from 39 cities for the GMW and world time across 38 cities for the GM. The GMW’s app functions are described as including world time for about 300 cities, time-and-place logging, reminders and phone finder; the launch page marks phone finder as available on the GMW-B5000D.
For lighting, the GMW uses a full-auto LED backlight and the GM uses a double LED light. The GM also has a hand-shift feature, which moves the hands out of the way when needed to read the digital display. These feature distinctions may matter more in daily use than the small differences in listed case measurements.

- Choose by display: the GMW-B5000D-2 is the square digital option; the GM-B2100AD-2A has an analog-digital layout and blue dial.
- Choose by time correction: the GMW is the one of the pair with Multi Band 6 radio control listed, alongside Bluetooth. The GM’s listed correction option is Bluetooth smartphone adjustment.
- Choose by light and world-time presentation: the GMW has a full-auto LED backlight and a 39-city selectable-time listing; the GM has double LED illumination and a 38-city world-time listing.
These are feature-based distinctions, not evidence that one model is objectively more accurate, comfortable or durable in everyday wear.
When were these watches launched?
G-SHOCK Singapore announced the models as available online and in stores from 12 April 2024 at 11:00 a.m. That is a historical Singapore launch date, not confirmation of current stock or availability in another region. Casio’s G-SHOCK Magazine says the stainless-steel full-metal GMW-B5000 was introduced in 2018 and the 2100 series was added in 2022; it does not state a publication date for that feature. Check local Casio listings for the exact suffix and regional availability.
