The Kurono Tokyo 2025 Jubilee Sensu EOL “白藍” is a compact Japanese independent watch built around a pale blue guilloché dial, a Sensu folding-fan power-reserve display, and a discontinued Miyota 9133 movement modified to remove its date function. Created for Hajime Asaoka’s 60th Diamond Jubilee, it was a finite, once-off release—not a published numbered edition—and the official page now lists it as sold out.
The Kurono Tokyo 2025 Jubilee Sensu EOL “白藍” (Shiraai) is a compact Japanese independent watch built around three unusually coherent ideas: a pale blue guilloché dial, a power-reserve display shaped by the Sensu folding-fan motif, and a discontinued Miyota 9133 movement modified specifically to remove its date function. Add the black onyx cabochon crown and the watch becomes a particularly distinctive anniversary piece—not a conventional luxury-brand watch, and not an individually numbered limited edition, but a once-off release made from a finite movement supply.

Kurono released it for Hajime Asaoka’s 60th Diamond Jubilee. The official product page now marks the watch sold out and says it will not be reintroduced, so the original launch details matter mainly as provenance for collectors considering the secondary market.
The design: pale blue guilloché against black onyx
“白藍” (Shiraai) is Kurono’s name for the bright white-indigo or pale blue dial. The brand describes the color as a bright baby blue and also references “Hokusai Blue.” It is more metallic and reflective than a flat pastel dial, allowing the engraved patterns to change character as the watch catches the light.

The dial combines several guilloché treatments rather than relying on one all-over texture:
- A chrysanthemum-like wave pattern radiates from the center.
- The power-reserve display uses the Sensu, or folding fan, motif.
- Railway-track guilloché frames the outer perimeter.
- Polished steel domes mark the hours.
- Kanji characters replace conventional printed hour numerals.
The result is decorative but not overloaded. The dial’s visual interest comes from the interaction of light, metal, and engraved texture, while the absence of a date window leaves the central composition intact.
The black onyx cabochon crown is the most obvious counterpoint to the blue dial. Kurono selected the stone to create contrast, and the brand described the cabochon crown as a Jubilee-specific feature that was not intended to continue after this release. Other anniversary refinements include somewhat improved polishing on the box sapphire crystal and polished steel components, plus hand-bent, highly polished steel hands.
What “Sensu” means on this watch
The Sensu display is a power-reserve indicator, not a date or calendar display. That distinction is central to understanding the watch.

For the Jubilee Sensu EOL, Hajime Asaoka modified the movement at his bench, removing the calendar window and its accompanying gear train. The dial therefore presents only the information Kurono wanted: the time and the remaining running reserve.
This is not a wholly new movement architecture designed from scratch for Kurono. The defensible description is a discontinued Miyota 9133 base movement, identified by Kurono as its in-house modified Cal. 9133PWT, adapted for the watch’s clean, date-free layout. The modification is meaningful precisely because it changes the function and visual purpose of an existing calibre without hiding the movement’s underlying origin.
Why the “EOL” designation matters
Here, EOL means “end of life.” It refers to the movement supply, not to an electronic end-of-life battery warning or a mechanical fault.
Miyota’s 9133 was no longer being manufactured, and Kurono said that only a limited supply had been made available to the brand. Kurono positioned the Jubilee Sensu EOL as a once-off batch that would not be repeated. That gives the watch genuine scarcity, but it does not justify calling it a numbered limited edition: the official material reviewed for this release does not publish a production quantity or an individual edition number.

For collectors, the distinction is important. “Finite movement supply,” “limited production,” and “non-repeatable release” accurately describe the watch. “Numbered edition of X pieces” does not.

The 38 mm case is compact to medium-sized by current mechanical-watch standards, and the 45.6 mm lug-to-lug measurement should make it relevant to buyers who prefer restrained dress-watch proportions. Actual fit still depends on wrist shape and the way the lugs curve. The 20 mm lug width is the practical ownership measurement to remember when replacing the strap.
The movement in context
Miyota’s technical documentation lists the standard 9133 as a 131⁄2-ligne automatic movement measuring 30.20 mm in diameter and 5.52 mm in height. It has 26 jewels, beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour, and runs for more than 40 hours. Kurono gives the completed Jubilee Sensu a 40-hour power reserve.
The standard calibre includes a date function. Kurono’s explanation that the date display and related gear train were removed is therefore consistent with the base movement’s documented specification. The watch should not be sold to readers as though it contains a newly invented calibre; its interest lies in the purposeful conversion of a discontinued, date-capable movement into a cleaner time-and-power-reserve configuration.

Launch, price, and availability
Kurono opened two global online ordering windows on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. Japan Standard Time. For New York, those times were Wednesday, May 21, at 10:00 p.m. EDT and Thursday, May 22, at 10:00 a.m. EDT.
The brand also offered salon viewing and preorder opportunities in Aoyama, Tokyo, and Shanghai from May 15, 2025. The original global price was US$2,230 excluding VAT and duties. Kurono listed a Japanese domestic price of ¥328,680 including Japan VAT and a Shanghai salon price of RMB18,200 including VAT and duties. Expected deliveries were scheduled to begin from June 2025.
For U.S.-bound orders at launch, Kurono stated that a 10% baseline tariff—approximately US$223 at the listed price—could apply in addition to the watch price, along with other applicable taxes and charges. That was launch-specific information, not a current quotation. Tariff rules, taxes, and import charges can change.
The official product page currently shows the Jubilee Sensu EOL as SOLD OUT. A buyer should consequently separate the original retail price from any secondary-market asking price. The watch’s finite movement supply and non-repeatable positioning may support collector interest, but neither the available product material nor the independent coverage establishes a guaranteed resale value or future premium.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

The original configuration used a calf-leather strap measuring 20 mm at the case and tapering to 16 mm at the buckle. Owners looking to change the color, texture, or worn condition of the original can shop for a 20mm leather watch strap. That recommendation follows the watch’s documented dimensions and dress-oriented character; it should not be read as an endorsement by Kurono of every aftermarket strap.
Check four details before ordering:
- Confirm a 20 mm case-side width.
- Check whether the strap tapers to a 16 mm buckle or is supplied with a compatible buckle.
- Verify spring-bar clearance around the lugs and box-shaped crystal.
- Choose leather and construction appropriate to a 5 ATM dress watch rather than treating it as a sports or swimming strap.
A basic watch spring bar tool can help with a strap change, but it is not required for ownership. If you are inexperienced, a watchmaker or careful strap retailer is the safer choice: polished case surfaces and lugs can be scratched by a slipping tool.
Buying a sold-out example: provenance matters
The secondary market is the realistic route for someone who wants this specific Shiraai Jubilee model. Treat any reputable pre-owned watch marketplace or private listing as a separate purchasing decision, not as equivalent to buying from Kurono during the original release.
Ask for:
- Clear photographs of the dial, crown, caseback, clasp, and movement documentation if available.
- The original order or fulfillment record, if the seller has it.
- Confirmation of the movement designation and the power-reserve display.
- Details of any polishing, servicing, replaced hands, crown, crystal, buckle, or strap.
- The date of fulfillment and the original buyer’s name where warranty eligibility could matter.
Do not assume that a high asking price proves authenticity or that a “limited” description means the watch has a published serial-numbered edition size. The supplied research does not establish either a production count or a guaranteed market price.
Warranty and servicing for original and subsequent owners
Kurono’s general international warranty lasts one year from the date of fulfillment and covers material and manufacturing defects that existed at delivery. It excludes normal wear, aging of non-metallic straps, accidental or abusive damage, negligence, incorrect use, and handling by unauthorized persons.
Warranty claims should be initiated with Kurono. Where a major retailer was involved, Kurono says service claims should generally go through the authorized retailer. The brand also says the watch is designed so that a competent certified watchmaker can service or repair it, while owners can alternatively send the watch to Japan for a quote.
Secondary-market buyers need particular caution. Kurono’s warranty page states that claims within the first six months after receipt by anyone other than the original buyer on record may be rejected, and that resale-market watches identified during that period may have warranty problems. That is a stated policy condition, not a prediction about the legal outcome of every transaction, but it is enough reason to request the fulfillment date and warranty history before paying a collector’s premium.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Who should buy the Jubilee Sensu EOL?
This is a strong fit for someone who values dial craft, Japanese independent-watch design, and an unusual movement story more than brand prestige or maximum everyday robustness. The date-free layout, Kanji hour markers, pale blue guilloché, and fan-shaped power reserve give it a personality that is difficult to confuse with a generic three-hander.

It is less suitable for a buyer who needs a watch for swimming, wants a widely available replacement-parts ecosystem, expects a numbered limited edition, or is purchasing solely for guaranteed appreciation. The 5 ATM rating calls for ordinary water caution, and the sold-out status means condition, documentation, and warranty transfer can be as important as the dial color when comparing examples.

Not according to the official material reviewed. Kurono described it as a limited, once-off release based on finite movement supply, but did not publish a production quantity or individual edition numbering.
What does EOL mean?
EOL means “end of life.” In this watch’s name, it refers to the discontinued Miyota 9133 movement supply used for the release.

The Bottom Line
The Kurono Tokyo 2025 Jubilee Sensu EOL “白藍” earns attention through purposeful detail: a pale blue multi-pattern guilloché dial, an onyx crown, and a discontinued Miyota 9133 converted from date display to time and power reserve. Its scarcity is real but should be described accurately as finite, non-repeatable production—not as a numbered edition. For a secondary-market buyer, documentation and warranty eligibility matter as much as the striking dial.
