The Namica Okami is a sharply geometric titanium automatic built around an unusually wide-looking dial and an angular case. NAMICA introduced it in February 2024 as its second watch, following the Shirahama collection. Its appeal is primarily in that distinctive retro-futurist form, backed by a Miyota 9039 movement and practical everyday specifications. The original Okami colorways are listed as sold out on NAMICA’s checked official store pages, so the launch prices below are historical, not current offers.
What is the Namica Okami?
NAMICA says it launched its first collection, Shirahama, in 2022, then returned with the Okami in February 2024. The brand describes its design approach as a blend of Japanese culture and nature with classic watch silhouettes. The Okami is a lightweight titanium urban sports watch, but its visual character is less conventional than that description might suggest.
The case is sharply faceted, with an octagonal bezel and a broad, widescreen dial layout. NAMICA cites the look of television dials and digital watches from the 1970s and 1980s as inspiration. The result reads as retro-futurist: familiar cues from older display technology, recast in a compact mechanical wristwatch. These are design influences and visual observations, rather than technical functions of the dial.

Why the dimensions need a version note
Some launch coverage reported a 10.7 mm thickness, while the current Japanese Okami page gives 10 mm and explicitly notes the earlier figure. The current page also distinguishes the 39 × 40 mm case from its 42 mm measurement across the guards. That explains why a single unqualified “case diameter” can be misleading for this shape. The 47 mm lug-to-lug measurement is consistent across the current Japanese page and the Kurayami listing.

The Miyota 9039 is an automatic movement, and NAMICA’s newer Japanese page lists 42+ hours of reserve. Fratello’s launch-era article reported 42 hours. The Japanese listing also specifies hand winding and hacking, useful practical details when setting the watch. Because the newer page identifies a solid caseback, do not assume the launch-era display-back description applies unchanged to every configuration.
Launch colorways and campaign history
At launch, the Okami family was presented in three dial themes: Neo Tokyo, Turbo Blue and Kurayami, with different lume treatments. That describes the launch lineup, not present-day stock. The blacked-out Kurayami variant is the one specified on NAMICA’s current product listing.

Is the Namica Okami still available?

- Consider it if: you want a compact, relatively thin automatic with a distinctive angular titanium case, a 47 mm lug-to-lug span and a broad, unconventional dial presentation.
- Its specifications suit everyday wear: the listed 100 m water resistance, sapphire crystal, fixed bezel and rubber strap give it practical sports-watch credentials, though those specifications alone do not establish suitability for every activity or use condition.
- Look elsewhere if: you prefer a restrained round case, conventional proportions, or a model with confirmed new stock and a live price.
If sourcing a replacement band, “22mm FKM watch strap” is a reasonable size-based search phrase. The newer Japanese page says the strap tapers from 22 mm to 20 mm, but width alone does not guarantee a generic strap’s end shape, buckle dimensions or hardware will fit. Check those details before buying; NAMICA’s own strap should not be assumed available through any particular retailer.
