A monochrome Black Bay, not a blacked-out one
Tudor’s design change is deliberately conservative. The Black Bay 41’s case remains steel, with a combination of polished and satin-finished surfaces. The black dial and black bezel create the darker appearance, but the rhodium-plated hands and applied silver-colored markers keep the watch legible and stop it from becoming a true blackout design.
The dial is domed, matching the domed sapphire crystal, and uses the Black Bay’s familiar snowflake hour hand. Tudor traces that hand shape to its 1969 diving-watch designs. Here, the historical details are presented in a more controlled palette than the burgundy-and-gilt styling associated with earlier Black Bay versions.
The bezel is a conventional dive-watch arrangement: a 60-minute scale on a black aluminum insert, rotating in one direction. The screw-down crown carries Tudor’s relief rose. These are recognizable Black Bay cues rather than a new visual language.
The third-generation case is the important technical update
The 2024 monochrome release applies the case and hardware revisions introduced with the third-generation Black Bay 41. Tudor lists a 13.6mm thickness for the bracelet reference, and independent coverage has described the new profile as substantially slimmer than earlier Black Bay 41 versions. That is a design-generation comparison, not a claim about how the watch feels on every wrist.
The update also includes revised crown and bezel details, updated hands, and a redesigned clasp system. The result is a Black Bay that preserves the original 41mm proportions while presenting them in a thinner, more current package.
At 41mm wide and 21mm between the lugs, it remains a substantial sports watch. The 200m water-resistance rating and screw-down crown support its dive-watch positioning, although specifications alone are not a substitute for independent dive testing or a check of the watch’s condition and seals.

MT5602-U: COSC plus METAS certification
Inside is Tudor Manufacture Calibre MT5602-U, an automatic movement with a bidirectional rotor and a stated 70-hour power reserve. It uses a silicon balance spring, which Tudor identifies as part of the movement’s resistance to magnetic fields.
The movement is both COSC-certified and METAS Master Chronometer-certified. Those labels should not be treated as interchangeable:

- METAS Master Chronometer covers a broader set of watch-level characteristics, including precision, magnetic resistance, water resistance, and power reserve.
Tudor’s published description of the METAS process includes testing at two temperatures, in six positions, and at two power-reserve levels. Tudor also states that the watch is tested against a 15,000-gauss magnetic field and that its water resistance is assessed to the applicable ISO standard at 200m.
These are certification specifications, not a guarantee that every individual watch will keep identical time on every wrist. Wearing position, magnetism, shocks, temperature, and service condition can all affect a mechanical watch in use.
How it differs from the earlier Black Bay 41 look
The Black Bay family launched in 2012, and Tudor introduced Manufacture Calibre-equipped Black Bay models in 2016. The line draws on nearly seven decades of Tudor diving-watch history, but the 2024 Monochrome is best understood as an evolution of that established formula.
Its biggest visual change is the color treatment. Earlier Black Bay presentations—particularly the familiar burgundy-and-gilt combinations—leaned more heavily into vintage styling. The Monochrome replaces that warmth with a black dial, black bezel, and silver-toned hardware. It is therefore easier to read as a conventional modern dive watch, while the snowflake hand, domed surfaces, and crown rose retain the family identity.

- 41mm steel case with polished and satin finish
- Bidirectional rotatable bezel in steel with 24-hour graduated anodised aluminium disc
- Self-winding mechanical movement with 70 hour power reserve
Technically, the more meaningful differences are the slimmer third-generation case, revised bezel and crown details, updated hand design, the T-fit clasp ecosystem, and the MT5602-U’s combined COSC and METAS certification.
Bracelet and rubber-strap options
The featured reference, M7941A1A0NU-0001, is shown on a three-link stainless-steel bracelet with Tudor’s T-fit clasp. T-fit allows on-the-fly fine adjustment within the clasp, although the dossier establishes the feature and configuration rather than a firsthand assessment of clasp feel.
Tudor’s technical material also lists five-link stainless-steel and fitted black-rubber configurations within the Black Bay 41 family, with T-fit clasps across those configurations. Exact reference suffixes and availability can vary by market, so confirm the full reference and included bracelet before ordering.
The confirmed lug width is 21mm. That makes a 21mm watch strap the relevant accessory category, but not every generic 21mm strap will be a drop-in fit. End links, spring-bar dimensions, case curvature, and clearance at the lugs can differ. Tudor’s own fitted rubber option is the safer route when a model-specific fit matters.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

- Verify that the strap is specified for 21mm lugs.
- Check whether it includes case-specific end links or uses straight ends.
- Confirm spring-bar diameter and shoulder clearance.
- Protect the polished case sides and lugs from tool slips.
- Use a qualified watchmaker if you are uncertain or if the watch is valuable.
Is the Black Bay 41 Monochrome the same as the Black Bay Ceramic?
No. The Monochrome reference in this article has a stainless-steel case and stainless-steel bracelet. The separate Black Bay Ceramic family uses a matte-black ceramic case and a different movement designation. Tudor’s later full-ceramic-bracelet Black Bay Ceramic is also a different model. Calling the stainless-steel Monochrome a ceramic or fully black watch would confuse two distinct products.
Price and where to buy it
Tudor’s official product information identifies displayed prices as suggested retail prices and notes that models and prices can change. Because the localized product page does not provide a stable US-dollar price in the supplied research, a responsible US price should be checked immediately before publication or purchase rather than repeated as a potentially stale number.

Availability is similarly market-dependent. Tudor directs customers to its official retailers and retailer locator. For this reference, confirm all of the following with the seller:
- that the watch is reference M7941A1A0NU-0001;
- that the listed price is current and in the intended currency;
- which bracelet or strap is included;
- that the seller is an authorized Tudor retailer; and
- what warranty documentation accompanies the watch.
Those checks are more important than relying on an unverified marketplace listing, especially when visually similar Black Bay references have different case materials, movements, and bracelet configurations.

The Black Bay’s 70-hour reserve means an automatic watch winder is not necessary simply to keep the movement running between normal periods of wear. It may be convenient for someone rotating several automatic watches, but it is storage equipment—not required maintenance.
A watch travel case can be useful when transporting a valuable mechanical watch. Choose protection that prevents the watch from moving against hard surfaces and keep the crown and bracelet from pressing into the case. If you regularly swap the bracelet and rubber strap, a watch spring bar tool is relevant, but fitting this watch without the correct tool and technique can scratch the lugs or damage the spring bars. Professional fitting is the lower-risk choice.
Winder note: A winder is optional convenience gear; the 70-hour power reserve means the watch can simply stop and be reset when you wear it again.
Travel-case note: A case is generic protective equipment, not a Tudor-specific requirement.

Verdict
The 2024 Tudor Black Bay 41 Monochrome is the classic Black Bay formula in its most restrained modern colorway. The “all-black” description works as a visual shorthand, but the accurate description is a stainless-steel, black-dial, black-bezel dive watch with silver accents.
Its substance lies beyond the color: a slimmer 41mm third-generation case, 200m water resistance, a T-fit clasp, and the MT5602-U automatic movement with a 70-hour reserve and both COSC and METAS certification. It is a strong choice for readers who want the Black Bay’s historical cues without the earlier burgundy-and-gilt emphasis—provided they do not mistake it for the separate ceramic model and verify the exact market reference before buying.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Tudor Black Bay 41 Monochrome completely black?

Is this the same watch as the Black Bay Ceramic?
No. The Monochrome is a stainless-steel model. Black Bay Ceramic watches use a matte-black ceramic case and a different movement designation, making them separate references.
What strap size fits the Tudor Black Bay 41 Monochrome?
The confirmed lug width is 21mm, but a generic 21mm strap is not automatically guaranteed to fit. End links, spring bars, case curvature, and lug clearance must also be compatible.

The Bottom Line
Bottom line: The Tudor Black Bay 41 Monochrome reference M7941A1A0NU-0001 is a stainless-steel Black Bay with a black dial and bezel—not a fully black ceramic watch.
