The Urwerk UR-230 Black Star is the concluding model in the UR-230 collection, not the end of Urwerk. Introduced on 10 December 2025, it closes a three-model sequence that began with the Eagle and continued with the Polaris. The Black Star pairs a black-and-yellow presentation with an exclusive ceramic composite case and the UR-7.30 automatic movement, and is limited to 35 pieces.
What does “final” mean for the UR-230 Black Star?
“Final” refers to the UR-230 collection chapter. Monochrome Watches described the Black Star as the final chapter when it introduced the watch on 10 December 2025, and Urwerk’s collection page presents it among the UR-230 variations. Neither source says Urwerk itself is ending. The collection’s sequence is Eagle, Polaris, then Black Star.
The three models share the UR-230’s satellite-hours concept, while their case materials and visual treatments mark the progression. Monochrome describes the Eagle’s carbon CTP case, the Polaris’s ceramic-based composite presentation, and the Black Star’s return to black and yellow using an exclusive ceramic composite. Urwerk’s page discusses the Eagle’s turbine-based shock-protection and winding concept: the brand says one set of turbines attenuates external shocks, while another regulates airflow feeding the winding system. That is Urwerk’s description, not an independently verified “world-first” claim.

How does the UR-7.30 display the time?
The UR-7.30 combines wandering hours with a retrograde minutes display. Hours travel on a satellite complication, while a three-dimensional retrograde hand indicates the minutes. Urwerk also specifies an Air Brake for aerodynamic winding regulation and an On-Off indication for automatic-winding status. The technical document lists the movement as modular automatic, with a double barrel, 50 jewels, a 4 Hz frequency and a 48-hour power reserve.
What do the price and edition size establish?
Urwerk’s 2025 technical document gives a limited run of 35 pieces and a price of CHF 150,000 excluding tax. Those are launch-document figures; they do not establish current availability or a resale value. Art in Time lists the model at €192,000 including 20% VAT, but that tax-inclusive euro listing is not directly comparable with Urwerk’s Swiss-franc price without accounting for tax and exchange rates, and the listing does not confirm current stock.

What should buyers know about the case and water resistance?
Urwerk describes the case as an exclusive ceramic composite developed for the brand, with a transparent sapphire crystal and a caseback combining black DLC-treated titanium and sapphire. The published water-resistance rating is 30 m/3 ATM, which Urwerk says is pressure-tested. That figure alone does not support treating the watch as suitable for swimming or diving.
Which strap is specified?
The technical document specifies a vulcanized-rubber Kiska strap with Velcro fastening. This identifies the supplied strap specification; it does not establish the availability of a replacement strap or compatibility with other straps.
