The inaugural edition runs 8–11 April 2027 at Messe Basel, so buyer turnout, deal-making and commercial results are still unknown.
What Basilia is
Basilia Jewellery & Watch Fair is a new annual business-to-business trade platform for the jewellery, gemstone and watch industries. MCH Group and Informa Markets organize it jointly. The first edition is scheduled for 8–11 April 2027 in Hall 2 at Messe Basel, Switzerland. It is a trade event, not a consumer show.
The organizers describe the fair as a gateway between Asia and Europe. The planned layout, which they call “City Under Construction,” divides the show into industry districts:
- Jewellery
- Gemstone
- Watch
- Swiss
- Technology
These districts are organizer plans and positioning. They describe how the fair intends to be organized, not how it has performed.

What the 8 October 2026 registration update reports
MCH Group’s update is the only concrete trading signal published so far. It contains two exhibitor figures:
- Exhibitor registrations at 70% of target. The target is more than 400 exhibitors. This is a dated registration count for the inaugural edition, not a final exhibitor list.
- About 75% jewellery and gems. Roughly three quarters of registered exhibitors represent jewellery and gemstones. The remainder are in watchmaking.
Roman Imgrüth, CEO of MCH Exhibitions & Events, said: “The positive response to Basilia in just three months tells us that our proposition of a gateway between Asia and Europe, in both directions, is answering a real need.” This is the organizer’s reading of its own registration progress.

Why registrations do not yet prove the bet
Exhibitor registrations measure supply-side interest. They say little about whether buyers will attend, what they will source, or whether exhibitors will sell enough to return. The figures above all come from the organizer. As of 8 October 2026, no independent market study of demand for the fair has been published, and no post-event results exist. Any claim that Basilia will succeed, or has already succeeded, would be a projection rather than a finding.
The fair’s momentum is therefore best described as early and organizer-reported: on track toward an exhibitor target, with no visitor or business outcomes yet to report.

What would count as proof in April 2027
The organizers’ own pitch depends on a few outcomes that can only be judged once the fair opens. These are the tests that will separate early momentum from a proven format:
- Buyer mix. Whether the intended international audience actually attends, including manufacturers, independent brands, wholesalers, importers and exporters, distributors, retailers, e-tailers and sourcing professionals.
- Exhibitor mix. Whether the roughly three-quarters jewellery and gemstone share holds at opening, and whether watch exhibitors form a substantial part of the remainder.
- Useful connections. Whether exhibitors and buyers report meaningful sourcing leads and business conversations rather than only attendance.
- Return participation. Whether exhibitors and buyers commit to a second edition. Repeat participation is the clearest sign that the value was real, and it cannot be assessed from a first show.
None of these outcomes is available yet. Turnout, satisfaction and repeat participation remain open questions until the fair has run.

Who the fair is aimed at
The organizers identify the following business audience:
- Manufacturers and designers
- Independent brands
- Wholesalers, distributors and importers/exporters
- Retailers and e-tailers
- Sourcing professionals
Anyone outside these categories, including consumers, is not the target audience for the trade fair itself.

Travel planning for attendees
MCH Group reports that more than 2,500 hotel rooms have been arranged for exhibitors and visitors, in close collaboration with Basel Tourism. That figure shows that accommodation preparation is under way. It does not establish a public booking offer. The sources reviewed do not identify a public booking link or an official hotel partner open to individual visitors.
Before booking, check the official event website for current travel arrangements. Exhibitor participation and travel details may change before April 2027.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Basilia a successor to Baselworld?
The organizer materials reviewed describe Basilia as a new annual trade platform, not as a continuation of another fair. A shared venue or shared industry focus is not enough to establish continuity, so readers should not assume a link without an explicit statement from the organizers.
