Jack Mason’s Strat-o-Timer GMT Frontier is an automatic traveler’s GMT watch: its local-hour hand jumps independently, allowing the wearer to adjust local time without stopping the watch or moving the 24-hour GMT hand. How the Frontier’s GMT function works
The Frontier uses the Miyota 9075 automatic GMT movement. Its independently adjustable local-hour hand is designed for travel: when changing time zones, the wearer can move the local hour forward or backward in one-hour increments while leaving the 24-hour hand, which tracks a second time zone, undisturbed. This is the traveler’s, or flyer’s, GMT arrangement.
That differs from a caller-style GMT, in which the independently adjusted hand is typically the 24-hour hand. Jack Mason’s product description specifically identifies the Frontier’s local hour as the jumping hand.

What distinguishes the Frontier
Monochrome Watches describes the Frontier as a more restrained, tool-watch-oriented evolution of the Strat-o-Timer GMT and identifies Alpine and Night variants. That “tougher” positioning is editorial characterization, not a quantified durability test. On the Night, Jack Mason lists a brushed stainless-steel bezel, BGW9 luminous material on the dial and hands, and a concealed clasp adjustment system that can be adjusted without tools.
The 40 mm diameter and 47 mm lug-to-lug measurement provide useful fit references, while the 20 mm lug width means the watch can also be worn on compatible aftermarket straps. The listed 13.2 mm thickness is a separate consideration for anyone comparing how a watch sits beneath a cuff.
