The Kentex Marineman Seahorse is a Japanese automatic dive-watch family, not one single specification. Its appeal is clear on paper: a 44.8 mm case, sapphire crystal and ceramic bezel on representative models, plus a manufacturer-stated 200 m diver specification. The trade-off is size and, with steel-bracelet versions, substantial weight. The exact reference matters: Seahorse and Seahorse II variants differ in weight, bands, dials and limited-production counts.
Is the Kentex Marineman Seahorse a good watch?
Based on published specifications, it is a compelling option for someone seeking a large Japanese automatic diver with prominent materials and a 200 m rating stated by Kentex. A representative Seahorse S706M-11 combines a ceramic one-way bezel and sapphire magnifier crystal with a steel case and bracelet. Its 44.8 mm diameter and 180 g published weight make it a substantial proposition, rather than a discreet everyday watch. The Seahorse II S706M-21 is listed at approximately 200 g on its steel bracelet.
This is a specifications-based assessment, not a hands-on verdict: available information does not establish comfort, measured timekeeping, durability, serviceability or value against current street prices. Kentex says the Marineman case shape is designed to improve fit, but that design claim is not an observed fit result.
What movement does the Kentex Seahorse use?
Seahorse S706M-11
Kentex lists a Japan-made automatic three-hand movement with date and hacking seconds for the S706M-11. Hacking stops the seconds hand when the crown is pulled, allowing the time to be set precisely. Its published specification does not state a jewel count or power reserve.

- 39 mm black CARBONOX case with CARBONOX screw-on back, unidirectional rotating bezel, and crown protection for lightweight durability.
- Hardened mineral crystal offers clear visibility and scratch resistance, protecting the watch face during active use.
- 100 meters / 330 feet / 10 ATM water resistance, making it suitable for swimming, snorkeling, and light water activities.
- Constant glow with green, orange, and Super-LumiNova blue illumination ensures excellent night visibility, supported by a 50-month battery life.
Seahorse II S706M-21
Kentex specifies a Japanese automatic movement with 24 jewels, a frequency of 21,600 beats per hour and a stated power reserve of more than 40 hours for the S706M-21. Kentex also lists a daily rate range of 0 to +25 seconds as its in-house adjustment; this is not an independent accuracy test or a guarantee of real-world performance.
How big is the Marineman Seahorse?
The S706M-11 and S706M-21 share a published 44.8 mm case diameter and 12.8 mm thickness. Kentex lists the S706M-21 at 51 mm in length and approximately 200 g on its steel bracelet. The S706M-11 is listed at 180 g. Diameter and length can make a watch feel broad across the wrist, while bracelet weight affects how substantial it feels; wrist fit and comfort depend on the wearer and were not independently tested here.

Band choice changes the weight considerably. The 2018 Kentex catalog shows metal and rubber options across Seahorse II variants, with approximate weights of 200 g for a metal-band configuration and 125 g for a silicone-band configuration. Those figures are catalog-level and variant-dependent, not interchangeable specifications for every reference. The international listing for S706M-16, a rubber-strap model, gives 125 g, 44.8 mm diameter, 12.8 mm thickness and 22 mm lug width.
Is it a real 200 m dive watch?
Kentex describes its Marineman series as meeting at least 200 m water resistance and says it inspects the watches following ISO 6425. The company’s range page states: “The Marineman series passes the water resistant inspection following to ISO 6425 (Diver Watches) standard.” This is the manufacturer’s claim; the available material does not independently verify certification or provide test documentation for each reference.

A published 200 m rating applies to a specified watch as manufactured, not automatically to a pre-owned example years later. Seal condition, service history and crown use affect water resistance. If you intend to swim or dive with an older Seahorse, have its current water resistance pressure-tested by a qualified watch service provider first.
Seahorse vs. Seahorse II: what changes?
“Seahorse” covers multiple references, so the name alone is not enough to determine a watch’s specification. The S706M-11 and S706M-21 share the same listed diameter and thickness, but the II reference has a published 51 mm length, a higher approximate bracelet weight and a more detailed movement specification. The broader Seahorse II range also includes different dials and bands.

- Bracelet fits up to 8-inch wrist circumference
- full markings on dial
- Made of upcycled ocean bound plastic
- luminous hands
- Water resistant to 50m (165 ft): In general, suitable for short periods of recreational swimming, but not diving or snorkeling

A 22 mm listed band width does not establish that a generic replacement strap or bracelet will fit. End links, attachment and clasp compatibility can depend on the particular reference.

- Confirm the full reference. Compare the case dimensions, weight, movement details, dial, bezel and band against the exact S706M number rather than assuming all Seahorses match.
- Choose the band with weight in mind. Catalog figures show a notable difference between metal- and silicone-band configurations, but confirm the specification for the watch being sold.
- Check limited-edition claims against the model. Kentex lists 188 pieces for S706M-21; the 2018 catalog gives varying counts among its references. A 2015 aBlogtoWatch video listing describes the S706M-09 as a 99-piece limited edition with a mother-of-pearl dial and ceramic bezel. The listing identifies the video’s subject but does not establish review conclusions.
- For a pre-owned watch, ask about service and water-resistance testing. A historical 200 m specification cannot establish the current condition of seals or the watch’s present water resistance.
- Verify live price and availability. Kentex’s international Marineman page has shown a mix of references and stock labels; availability and prices are time-sensitive and should be checked for the exact listing.
Verdict
The Kentex Marineman Seahorse is most convincing on paper for buyers who want a large, Japanese automatic diver and are comfortable with the wrist presence that comes with a 44.8 mm case. Its sapphire-and-ceramic specification and stated 200 m rating are attractive, but the exact reference determines movement details, weight, band and production count. Treat the water-resistance figure as a published specification, not proof of a pre-owned watch’s current condition.
