Leica’s ZM 12 is a four-variant automatic watch collection announced on February 27, 2025. Its defining changes from the ZM 11 are a smaller 39 mm case and a small-seconds display at 6 o’clock, paired with a dual-layer dial. Leica lists steel and titanium versions, and publishes an automatic movement specification of approximately 60 hours of power reserve.

What is the Leica ZM 12?

The ZM 12 is Leica’s self-winding watch collection, positioned by the company as an evolution of the ZM 11. Leica’s launch announcement describes a 39 mm case, a dual-layer dial and small seconds at 6 o’clock. Case material depends on the variant: stainless steel or titanium.

Leica says the hands and indices are illuminated with Swiss Grade A Super-LumiNova. The company frames the collection through industrial design and mechanical watchmaking. As Chairman of the Supervisory Board Dr. Andreas Kaufmann put it, “Every addition to the ZM Watch Collection is an opportunity to showcase our philosophy of merging technical excellence with minimalist design.” That is Leica’s own positioning, rather than an independent assessment.

Which ZM 12 models are available?

Leica announced four named versions. The names describe each model’s material and color treatment:

Leica’s UK launch release said Silver Grey, Olive Black and Titanium Chocolate Black would be available from February 27, 2025, and Blue Orange from April 17, 2025. Those were announced launch dates, not confirmation of present availability. See Leica USA’s ZM 12 collection listing and the UK launch announcement for the respective regional information.

What are the movement specifications?

Leica specifies its automatic LA-3002 caliber, developed in close collaboration with Swiss movement specialist Chronode. The company’s published figures are:

How much does the Leica ZM 12 cost?

Prices depend on market and date. Leica’s February 2025 UK release gave a recommended starting price of £5,725 including VAT. On October 8, 2026, Leica’s US collection page listed the three steel versions at $7,000 and the titanium version at $7,700. These figures are regional listings from different dates; they should not be treated as directly equivalent or as current prices in other markets. What straps and bracelets fit the ZM 12?

Leica describes the ZM 12 straps as interchangeable and identifies technical textile and rubber options. The launch release also describes a bright orange rubber strap with an inverted Clou de Paris pattern. A Leica Japan price list dated July 24, 2026, itemizes fabric, rubber and orange Clou de Paris straps with steel or titanium buckles, as well as separate stainless-steel and titanium bracelets.

The Japanese list is a regional accessory catalog, not a global price guide. Match the strap or bracelet, buckle material and watch variant before ordering; the available information does not establish that every listed combination fits every ZM 12. Consult Leica Japan’s product price list and confirm compatibility with Leica or the seller.

What distinguishes the ZM 12 from the ZM 11?

The manufacturer-supported distinctions are the ZM 12’s 39 mm case, small-seconds display at 6 o’clock and dual-layer dial evolution. The supplied Leica launch information does not establish comparative claims about weight, comfort, durability, water resistance, service intervals or movement performance, so those should not be inferred from the smaller case or the design changes.
