Your Fitbit’s serial number may be hidden beneath a removable band rather than printed on the visible back. The exact location depends on the model, so identify your device first and use the matching instructions below.
Quick answer: where to look
| Fitbit model | Serial-number location |
|---|---|
| Charge 6 | Inside the device beneath the bottom band, near the band connection |
| Charge 5 | Inside the device beneath the bottom band, near the band connection |
| Luxe | Inside the device beneath the bottom band, near the band connection |
| Sense 2 | Inside the device beneath the top band, near the band connection |
| Versa 4 | Inside the device beneath the top band, near the band connection |
| Inspire 3 | Near the band connection after releasing the band |
| Ace 3 | On the bottom of the tracker after removing it from the band |
| Google Fitbit Air | On the side of the tracker after removing it from the band |
| Aria Air | At the top of the underside label, above the barcode |
| Fitbit Ace LTE | In Settings, beneath the top band bar, or in the Fitbit Ace app |
These locations follow Google’s current device serial-number guide. Do not assume that every Fitbit has its serial number on the back.

Identify your Fitbit model first
The model matters because the release direction and band location differ. If you are unsure which device you have:

- Use the Fitbit help center to compare product and setup resources.
Serial number versus other identifiers
| Identifier | What it identifies |
|---|---|
| Serial number | One specific physical device |
| Model name | A product family, such as Charge 6 or Versa 4 |
| Model or regulatory number | A product, certification, or regulatory designation |
| SKU or order number | A retail item or purchase record |
| Bluetooth name | The name shown when pairing the device |
Copy the complete serial-number string exactly, including every letter and digit. Small printing can make 0 look like O, or 1 look like I. A barcode number is not automatically the serial number; look for labels such as S/N or Serial Number. Serial-number formats also vary by product and generation, so do not assume every Fitbit uses the same character count.
If you cannot read or find it
- Print is too small: Use bright, indirect light and photograph the label with your phone, then enlarge the image.
- Surface is dirty: Clean only the exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid inside the band connection or case.
- The band will not release: Confirm the model, use a fingernail, and press or slide the latch in the correct direction. Do not twist the tracker, force the band sideways, or pry with metal. Stop if the latch looks damaged.
- The device will not turn on: Check the physical location, the underside or side of the tracker, the original box, and your receipt or order record. The app is not a guaranteed source for every Fitbit model; current official instructions specifically document in-app access for Ace LTE.
- The box and device do not match: The box may belong to another unit, the device may have been exchanged or replaced, or you may be reading a model number rather than a serial number. Photograph both identifiers and ask Google/Fitbit support which one should be used.
- The model is older or not listed: Check its packaging and labels, then contact Google/Fitbit support. Older community posts mention account-based or URL-based identifiers, but those reports are historical or anecdotal and should not be treated as a current universal method.
Why the serial number may be requested
Support, warranty, repair, replacement, return, insurance, retailer-service, registration, and resale paperwork may ask for the serial number. It identifies a particular unit, but by itself it may not prove legal ownership. Support may sometimes use account or purchase details instead, although that is not a guaranteed procedure.

Share it only with Google/Fitbit, a retailer, insurer, or another trusted service that legitimately needs it. If you post a troubleshooting photo publicly, redact the full serial number.
