Reebok Smart Eyewear is not an augmented-reality headset. It is a range of sporty sunglasses and optical frames made by Innovative Eyewear under licence from Authentic Brands Group, with open-ear Bluetooth speakers, microphones and phone-linked voice features. You can use the glasses for music, calls, messages, navigation prompts and selected AI services—but the documented models do not list cameras, displays, onboard GPS or independent cellular connectivity.
That makes them most attractive to runners, cyclists, commuters and prescription-glasses users who want audio without blocking their ears. The main compromise is equally clear: navigation, AI and most smart functions depend on a paired smartphone, the Lucyd app and online services.

What are Reebok Smart Eyewear?
The first Reebok smart-eyewear products launched worldwide through Lucyd in April 2025, following their public debut at MIDO 2025. Innovative Eyewear manufactures the products under a global licensing agreement with Authentic Brands Group for the Reebok brand. The launch announcement and licensing announcement establish the product’s provenance.
In practical terms, these are conventional sport sunglasses or optical frames with:
#1 Best Overall
- Adaptive Photochromic Lenses: Light-reactive technology responds automatically to UV exposure—transitioning from clear for night rides and indoor courts to dark for bright outdoor conditions
- Vision Care Compatible: Standard Base 6 frame design works with your local optical provider for personalized lens options—bring to your eyecare professional for custom solutions
- Superior HiFi Sound Engineering: USA-designed audio system delivers exceptional sound quality with rich bass and clear highs that surpass conventional audio eyewear
- Multi-Sport Performance: Lightweight, secure construction with adjustable nosepads ensures comfort across cycling, padel, tennis, running, and cross-training activities
- All Day Battery: 8-hour battery life supports your full day of activities—from pre-dawn training rides to evening court sessions on a single charge
- Open-ear speakers that sit near, rather than inside, the ear canal
- Microphones for calls and voice commands
- Bluetooth connectivity to a smartphone
- Physical or frame-based controls, depending on the model
- Access to phone assistants, Lucyd features and selected AI services
The glasses are therefore closer to integrated Bluetooth audio eyewear than to camera-equipped products such as Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses. They do not provide a heads-up display: route arrows, messages and AI answers are heard rather than shown in the lenses.
What can they do?
Music, podcasts and calls
The open-ear speakers can play music, podcasts and audiobooks while leaving the ear canal unobstructed. The microphones support hands-free phone calls and voice commands. Lucyd describes the original sport collection as offering hi-fi audio, tuned amplifiers and noise-cancelling microphones, but those are manufacturer claims rather than independent measurements of sound quality, microphone clarity or audio leakage.
Messages and phone assistants
With a compatible phone and the required permissions, the glasses can serve as an audio and microphone interface for functions such as reading or sending messages and activating Siri, Google Assistant or another supported phone assistant. The exact activation method can vary with the phone, operating system, Bluetooth connection and Lucyd app configuration.
Navigation
Navigation is an audio feature, not an onboard GPS system. The documented workflow is:
- Pair the glasses with a compatible smartphone over Bluetooth.
- Start a route in the phone’s map application.
- Keep the phone in a pocket, on a bicycle mount or otherwise accessible.
- Hear turn prompts through the open-ear speakers.
- Use the phone or voice assistant to change destinations or manage the route.
The phone still supplies the GPS, map data, permissions, battery and—where required—mobile-data connection. Lucyd’s Reebok collection and product pages describe navigation as part of the connected feature set; they do not establish that the frames calculate routes independently.
In a quiet neighbourhood, this can be a useful way to follow a route without repeatedly looking at a screen. Traffic, wind, gym equipment and heavy cycling noise are different matters. Open-ear audio preserves awareness of surrounding sound, but it also gives up the isolation and bass impact of sealed earbuds. Test whether your map app correctly lowers music volume when a direction is announced.
AI and translation
“AI-powered” should be read as a description of connected software, not as evidence of a powerful autonomous computer inside the frame. Innovative Eyewear has documented hands-free ChatGPT access through a connected Lucyd and Samsung Bixby workflow, while Lucyd promotes app-based AI functions and real-time translated calls. A July 2026 announcement also described Claude integration for Lucyd smart eyewear. See the ChatGPT/Bixby announcement, translation announcement and Claude announcement.

Availability can depend on the Lucyd app version, phone platform, account, internet connection and software rollout. The glasses should not be assumed to identify objects, read signs visually, show answers or understand the world through a camera. The supplied product material describes the line as camera-free and does not list a display.
Reebok models compared
| Model or group | Positioning | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Flash | Wraparound sport styling with polarized-lens options | Fit, lens availability and prescription compatibility |
| Nitrous | Sport sunglasses with multiple sizing and lens choices | Exact lens, size and prescription options |
| Octane | Sport-oriented frame with mirrored-lens options | Lens configuration and current stock |
| Voltage | Wraparound athletic styling with polarized lenses | Fit and suitability for the intended activity |
| Octane Shift and Nitrous Shift | Newer variants listed separately by Lucyd | Do not assume identical battery, lens, controls or prescription specifications |
| Jet and Shine optical models | Everyday optical frames | Prescription range, lens restrictions and charging design |
The original sport lineup is listed on the Reebok Collection page. Current listings also include the Shift variants on Lucyd’s Reebok shop. The newer optical collection is a separate purchasing route and should not be treated as merely another colourway of the sport models.

Specifications, battery and price
The following figures are published specifications and claims, not independent test results:
| Feature | Published information | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Wireless connection | Bluetooth 5.3 | That does not guarantee a particular real-world range. |
| Battery | More than 8 hours for the original sport collection; up to 12 hours for the optical collection | Runtime varies by generation, volume, calls, AI use and other activity. |
| Charging | Magnetic charging on sport products; the optical page describes USB-C charging in about two hours | Confirm the charger supplied with the exact frame. |
| Audio | Open-ear hi-fi speakers with tuned amplifiers and equalizers | No independent frequency-response or loudness testing was supplied. |
| Microphones | Noise-cancelling microphones | This is not a guarantee of clear calls in wind or traffic. |
| Lenses | Options may include polarized, UV400, mirrored, photochromic or standard lenses | Availability is model- and option-specific. |
| Weight | Approximately 34 g in a 2026 announcement; the optical page lists 40–43 g for Reebok smart eyeglasses | The published figures conflict and may describe different configurations. |
| Prescription support | The optical collection describes single-vision, progressive, bifocal and reader support | Confirm the exact frame, prescription range and geography before ordering. |
Prices and availability are especially volatile. In the Lucyd shop observed on August 16, 2026, several original models were listed around $139.30–$159.20 on sale against an advertised regular price near $199. Individual product pages showed figures around $169, while the optical collection listed some models at $224 sale pricing against a $249 regular price. Some collection views also showed models out of stock. Check the official shop immediately before buying rather than treating those figures as permanent prices.
Setup and everyday use
- Charge the glasses using the supplied charging system.
- Install the Lucyd app from the appropriate phone app store.
- Turn on Bluetooth and pair through the app.
- Grant the requested microphone, Bluetooth, notification and assistant permissions.
- Test ordinary music playback and a phone call first.
- Walk a short route to confirm that navigation prompts are audible.
- Configure the preferred phone assistant or AI service.
- Install app or eyewear firmware updates if offered.
- Repeat the test outdoors before relying on the glasses during a run or ride.
If setup fails, first check charge level and whether another nearby phone has connected. Forget the glasses in the phone’s Bluetooth settings and pair again through the Lucyd app. Restart the app and phone, then review microphone, Bluetooth, notification and location permissions. Make sure the map app can run in the background. If music works but AI does not, the likely problem is the app, assistant, account or internet connection rather than the speakers. If one side is quiet, check the phone’s audio balance, fit, debris and selected Bluetooth output.
Comfort, safety and privacy
Open-ear audio is the product’s central advantage and limitation. It can make conversations, alarms and traffic easier to hear than sealed earbuds, but environmental awareness is not a safety guarantee. Excessive volume can still reduce awareness and create hearing risk.
Fit matters more during running than desk use. Check whether the frame stays stable on your nose and temples, works with your helmet or straps and remains comfortable during sweat and movement. Do not assume weather resistance: verify documentation for the specific model before using it in rain or demanding outdoor conditions. Sunglasses can also be unsuitable for indoor gyms, low-light routes or changing conditions unless the chosen lens is appropriate.
The camera-free design is a meaningful privacy benefit in workplaces, schools, gyms and social settings. It does not mean that the product is data-free. Voice commands, calls and AI requests can involve the connected phone, Lucyd, a voice assistant, a map provider or an AI service. Review the current privacy policies of Lucyd, Apple, Google, OpenAI, Anthropic and the relevant map service before using the glasses for sensitive conversations.

Who should buy Reebok Smart Eyewear?
Buy if you want:
- Integrated sunglasses or optical frames with open-ear audio
- Phone-linked navigation prompts without repeatedly holding the phone
- Music and calls while retaining some awareness of surroundings
- A camera-free alternative to camera-equipped smart glasses
- Occasional voice-assistant or AI access rather than a standalone computer
- A Reebok sport aesthetic and, in the optical range, prescription support
Skip or compare alternatives if you need:
- Standalone GPS, cellular service or phone-free operation
- A visual display, heads-up arrows or camera-based AI
- Strong noise isolation and the most powerful bass
- Guaranteed all-weather sports durability
- A single, uniform specification across every Reebok model
For maximum flexibility, ordinary sport sunglasses plus open-ear headphones let you replace either component independently. Bone-conduction headphones may suit users who prioritise awareness but do not need integrated eyewear. Camera-equipped AI glasses offer richer visual functions but introduce additional privacy concerns. Ordinary Bluetooth sunglasses are the simpler choice for music and calls without a substantial AI ecosystem. Lucyd’s broader catalogue, including Lyte and Armor, is worth considering if you want a less overtly sporty frame or safety-oriented eyewear; see its full catalogue.
Bottom line
Reebok Smart Eyewear is credible as phone-connected open-ear audio eyewear: it can make music, calls, messages, navigation prompts and selected voice or AI functions more convenient. Its camera-free design is a genuine distinction. But it is not autonomous AR eyewear. The phone remains responsible for GPS, apps, internet access and much of the intelligence, while noisy environments, changing specifications, model-specific lens support and fluctuating stock make careful selection important.
