The Baltic Aquascaphe Dual-Crown lists 200 m water resistance, a 39 mm case with a 47 mm lug-to-lug length, and a no-date dial. Those are manufacturer-published specifications, not independent test results; the choice comes down to fit, display preference, and intended use—not an overall winner established by the numbers.

The figures come from the brands’ product pages, not a named independent comparative test. They do not establish real-world accuracy, comfort, durability, or suitability for a particular dive. Mido’s UK listing identifies reference M047.507.17.041.00; Baltic’s blue Aquascaphe Dual-Crown page supplies the other model’s specifications.
Which case is likely to fit your wrist better?
Mido: compact width and lower listed thickness
Mido gives the Multifort’s case as 38.4 mm long by 40 mm wide, with an average thickness of 9.5 mm. These dimensions describe a compact footprint on paper. Mido does not publish a lug-to-lug figure on the cited UK page, so the listed length should not be treated as a directly comparable substitute for Baltic’s lug-to-lug measurement.
Baltic: a measured 47 mm lug-to-lug
Baltic lists a 39 mm diameter and 47 mm lug-to-lug, plus a thickness of 11.9 mm including the glass (10 mm without it). The 47 mm figure is useful if you compare how far a watch’s lugs may span across your wrist, but case shape and wrist anatomy still affect how a watch wears. Baltic’s 20 mm lug width also gives it a visibly broader strap proportion than the Mido’s 12 mm listing.

- Case Type: Angular stainless steel case with octagonal bezel - See-through case back|screw-down crown
- Case Size: 40mm - Band Width: Stainless steel bracelet tapers from 24mm to 20mm - Case Thickness: 9.9mm
- The Octagonal bezel is emphasised by a horizontal relief stamped dial while white Super-LumiNova enhances the visibility of the indexes.Covered by a Sapphire crystal with double sided anti-reflection treatment for clear visibility.
If fit is the deciding factor, compare the watches on your wrist or against a watch you already know fits well. Do not assume the 40 mm and 39 mm figures alone predict which one will feel smaller: the brands report different case measurements, and the Mido page does not provide a lug-to-lug number.
Date display or a cleaner no-date dial?
Mido includes a date
The Multifort 8 Two Crowns has a date, set using the 4 o’clock crown. That makes it the straightforward choice if you regularly check the date on your watch, while adding an additional dial element.

Baltic keeps the dial date-free
The Aquascaphe Dual-Crown is explicitly described by Baltic as a no-date watch. Its 4 o’clock crown winds the movement and sets the time. Choose it if you prefer a date-free dial and do not need a date display on the watch.
What the water-resistance ratings do—and do not—tell you
Mido lists 10 bar / 100 m water resistance; Baltic lists 200 m / 20 ATM. Baltic therefore has the higher published rating. These are manufacturer ratings, not independent verification in this comparison, and they do not by themselves prove that either individual watch is appropriate for a specific dive or that a particular used watch remains water-resistant. For an activity with meaningful exposure to water, follow the maker’s guidance and ensure the watch’s condition and seals have been checked as appropriate.

Power reserve and movement details
Mido lists an automatic Caliber 72 with up to 72 hours of power reserve. Baltic lists the automatic Miyota 9039 with a 42-hour reserve and stop seconds. On the stated figures, the Mido offers the longer reserve; that can mean less frequent resetting after the watch is left unworn, though actual running time and performance are not independently measured here.
Mido describes the Caliber 72’s balance spring as Nivachron and says the technology is intended to reduce magnetic interference. That is the manufacturer’s description, not an independently measured magnetic-resistance result.

Two crowns, with different bezel descriptions
Both watches use the crown at 2 o’clock to operate an internal timing feature, while the 4 o’clock crown serves the movement. Mido calls its feature a rotating inner bezel or flange; the brand says the 4 o’clock crown sets time and date. Baltic specifies a bidirectional internal bezel with a 60-minute scale; its 4 o’clock crown winds the movement and sets the time. Baltic’s bezel is bidirectional, not unidirectional.

Mido pairs a blue dial and blue rubber strap with sapphire crystal coated for antireflection on both sides. Baltic’s blue version has a sunray dial, BGW9 lume, and a single-domed sapphire crystal with an internal antireflective coating. These descriptions help distinguish the models’ visual details, but do not establish which crystal is more legible or durable in use.

- Swiss made men's watch
- Movement: Swiss-made, 4-jewel quartz chronograph movement.
- Case Type: 42mm Satin-finished and polished stainless steel case with octagonal bezel. Covered by a Sapphire crystal with anti-reflection treatment for clear visibility.
- Dial: The Octagonal bezel is emphasised by a horizontal-stripe stamped dial with 3 small counters and tachymeter functions. Facetted nickled indexes and hands filled with white Super-LumiNova for enhanced visibility.
- Band: Satin-finished stainless steel bracelet, folding clasp with 2 push-buttons, engraved MIDO logo. Lug bars for quick change
The Mido page lists a blue rubber strap and 12 mm lug width. Baltic lists vulcanized rubber and steel beads-of-rice or flat-link bracelet options, with 20 mm between the lugs; it says its own listed straps are compatible. Check the exact strap and fit before buying, especially with third-party options.
Price, stock, and warranty details to verify
Mido’s UK product page lists a recommended retail price of £1,040 including VAT and showed the watch out of stock when that page was consulted. Both details are regional and can change; check the current listing for your market rather than assuming the UK price or stock status applies elsewhere.
A separate Baltic model page states a two-year warranty from shipment. Warranty coverage can depend on market and purchase channel, so confirm the terms applicable to the exact watch and seller before purchase. Baltic’s model page is the relevant place to check its published product information.
Quick Recap
How to choose between them
- Choose the Mido if you want the smaller listed width and thickness, a date display, and the longer manufacturer-stated power reserve.
- Choose the Baltic if you want a no-date dial, a published 200 m water-resistance rating, a 47 mm lug-to-lug figure, and 20 mm strap width with Baltic-listed strap choices.
- Compare in person if fit is uncertain. The published dimensions do not include directly equivalent case measurements for both watches, and specifications cannot determine individual comfort.
- Decide what you will use. A higher water-resistance rating, longer reserve, or date display matters only insofar as it fits your preferences and intended wear.
