Its 40 mm steel case, day-date display and 50 m water resistance make it a practical everyday proposition on paper; the pulsometer scale is more a design cue than a quick-use timing tool. Mido’s international product pages list the blue and anthracite steel versions at CHF 860 including VAT, though local availability and price vary.
What the Multifort Patrimony is—and who it suits
The Multifort Patrimony is an automatic watch built around vintage styling, with a pulsometer scale, box-shaped sapphire crystal and syringe-style hands. Mido describes those details as nods to the past, rather than presenting the watch as a reproduction of a particular historical model. The result is a classic-looking design with a date and day display and a modern automatic movement.
It is best considered by someone who wants a traditional dial and a mechanical watch that can go several days between winding when fully wound. It is less compelling if you want a chronograph, a highly legible sport-watch layout, or water resistance intended for swimming.

Pulsimeter scale and dial layout
The pulsimeter scale around the dial is intended to measure pulse rate. As Hodinkee and Monochrome note, the watch has no chronograph function: to use the scale, the wearer must wait for the seconds hand to reach the starting point and then count the specified beats. That makes it a slower, more deliberate feature than a chronograph-based pulsometer. For many buyers, its main appeal will be the visual character it gives the dial.
Crystal, hands and variants
Mido highlights the box sapphire crystal and the shape of the hour and minute hands as part of the vintage-inspired design. Hodinkee describes the hands as syringe-style and the overall look as unobtrusively classic; these are published design descriptions, not a hands-on assessment. Monochrome reports that the broader range included blue, anthracite and black dials across steel and gold-PVD cases. The two steel references compared here are the blue and anthracite versions documented on Mido’s official pages.

Movement and everyday use
Mido specifies an automatic Caliber 80 with up to 80 hours of power reserve. That “up to” figure is the manufacturer’s stated maximum, not a guarantee of identical reserve in every condition. Hodinkee identifies the movement’s base as ETA C07.621; Monochrome reports a 3 Hz frequency and 25 jewels. Those details come from the publications, while Mido’s product pages identify it as Caliber 80.
The day-date display adds useful calendar information without changing the watch’s dress-leaning appearance. The 50 m (5 bar) water-resistance rating is an everyday specification, but it does not make this a dedicated swimming or diving watch. Consider your actual water exposure and follow Mido’s guidance for the particular watch.

Case size, straps and buying checks
The 40 mm diameter and 12 mm average thickness are useful comparison points, but dimensions alone cannot predict how the case will sit on a particular wrist. The 19 mm lug width is a less common strap size than 18 or 20 mm, so replacement choices may be narrower. Check the strap’s stated width and fit for the exact reference before ordering; do not assume a nearby size will fit properly.
- Confirm the reference number and dial color: M040.407.16.040.00 is blue; M040.407.16.060.00 is anthracite.
- Compare the current price and stock status with an authorized seller in your region; the CHF 860 figure is Mido’s international-page listing, not a universal retail price.
- If buying used or from a marketplace, verify condition, seller, included items and return terms rather than relying on a listing photo alone.
Is the Multifort Patrimony good value?
At Mido’s listed CHF 860 including VAT for the steel variants, the package is attractive on paper if your priorities are vintage-influenced styling, sapphire crystal, day-date functionality and a long stated power reserve. The trade-offs are equally specific: the pulsometer is not quick to use without a chronograph, 50 m water resistance limits its appeal as a water-sport watch, and the 19 mm lug width can complicate strap replacement. Whether the price is compelling depends on the actual local offer and how much you value those design choices.
