What makes the Multifort TV Big Date distinctive?
A TV-shaped case with a Mido history
The case is the watch’s immediate signature: a rounded rectangular shape inspired by vintage television screens. It is not a new design invented for this release. Swatch Group says Mido used the shape in 1973, 1980 and 2000; the Multifort TV Big Date returned it to the catalogue in 2023. Swatch Group’s 2023 launch announcement presents the watch as a modern interpretation of that earlier design.
A large date at 12
The oversized date display sits at 12 o’clock, above a dial with horizontal texture and a gradient finish. Mido says the display uses two separately rotating discs and that its numerals are almost three times larger than those on watches with an equivalent diameter. The date is therefore both the practical complication and the main focal point of the dial. Mido’s UK product page describes the function on the green reference.
What did the 2023 video review cover?
Monochrome Watches published “The Original and Accessible Mido Multifort TV Big Date” on 21 December 2023. The reviewed watch is the blue-dial steel-bracelet reference M049.526.11.041.00. The review describes a brushed-and-polished steel bracelet with a folding clasp and quick-release pins, and mentions optional orange or blue rubber straps for certain dial variants, as well as leather or textile alternatives. Mido says the Nivachron balance spring helps reduce magnetic interference and improves resistance to impacts. The official specifications describe water resistance, but they do not establish how the watch performs in any particular use beyond that rating.

Movement and wearing details
Calibre 80 and the Nivachron spring
Mido specifies an automatic Calibre 80 with up to 80 hours of power reserve. Monochrome identifies the reviewed movement as based on ETA C07.651 / Powermatic 80, with 25 jewels and a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour. The reserve is a manufacturer specification, not an independently measured result in the review.
Bracelet and strap fit
The official UK listing gives the green reference a 22 mm lug width, matching the review’s reported bracelet width for the blue model. A 22 mm width alone does not confirm that every aftermarket strap will fit correctly: check the reference, attachment and clearance before buying. Mido’s page confirms the green reference’s lug width, while the review describes the blue model’s bracelet and alternative strap options.
