The Mido Ocean Star Tribute Gradient and Ocean Star 20th Anniversary Inspired by Architecture are distinct automatic dive watches with stated 200 m water resistance and up to 80 hours of power reserve. The Tribute Gradient is the smaller, 40.5 mm option; the anniversary edition measures 42.5 mm and was limited to 1,841 pieces. A reliable model-specific review of the Ocean Star GMT is not possible without its exact reference, so the comparison below keeps that distinction clear.

What the Tribute Gradient offers
A compact case with a modern dive-watch look
The reference M026.830.17.081.00 pairs a 40.5 mm 316L stainless-steel case with a grey-gradient dial and rubber strap. Mido lists the case at 13.4 mm average thickness and 21 mm between the lugs. A sapphire crystal, screw-down crown and day/date display complete the published specification.
Mido describes the Tribute family as a reinterpretation of design cues from its 1960s dive watches. That makes the Gradient’s vintage reference a design intention, not evidence that it reproduces the dimensions or construction of a particular historical model.

Movement, reserve and water rating
Mido specifies an automatic movement with up to 80 hours of power reserve and a water-resistance rating of 20 bar (200 m). These are published specifications, not independently measured timing results or a report of dive testing. The available product information does not establish accuracy, bezel feel, lume performance, clasp quality or on-wrist comfort.
Price and stock are market snapshots
When Mido’s US product page was accessed in 2026, it displayed a price of $1,120 and marked the model out of stock. Treat that as a dated US-market listing, not a current worldwide price or a promise about availability. Check the exact reference and local seller before buying.

What makes the 20th Anniversary edition different
Europa Point Lighthouse is part of the design
The reference M026.430.17.041.01 commemorates the Europa Point Lighthouse through several details: its 12 o’clock index takes inspiration from the lighthouse, which is also engraved on the caseback. The edition count—1,841 watches—corresponds to the year the lighthouse was built, according to the detailed model account.
WatchTime describes an ocean-blue dial with a velvet finish, a coordinated unidirectional aluminum bezel, luminous markers and hands, and a textile strap with red accents. The detailed model account specifies a blue fabric strap with red stitching, a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on both sides, and a screwed caseback and crown. These are source descriptions rather than hands-on observations.

Case size, movement and calendar
WatchTime reports a 42.5 mm case, 11.6 mm thickness, Caliber 80 with up to 80 hours of power reserve, and 200 m water resistance. The watch has a weekday/date display at 3 o’clock. Its case is 2 mm wider than the Tribute Gradient’s, while the reported thickness is 1.8 mm less than the Tribute’s Mido-listed average. Those figures come from different published sources and should not be treated as measurements taken under one shared method.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why the GMT needs its reference before comparison
Mido’s 2021 catalogue search-result excerpt confirms an Ocean Star GMT section, but the available information does not identify the exact reference or its specifications. “GMT” in a model name alone does not establish the watch’s case dimensions, movement, water rating, price, or how its time-zone display works. Until the reference is confirmed, any model-by-model verdict would risk describing the wrong watch.

For a useful comparison, match the full reference number on the watch or listing to Mido’s official product information. Then verify the regional version: Ocean Star names cover variants, and specifications or availability should not be transferred from one reference to another.
Which identifiable Ocean Star fits the brief?
- Choose the Tribute Gradient for the smaller stated diameter: its 40.5 mm case, grey-gradient dial and rubber strap distinguish it from the larger anniversary model.
- Consider the anniversary edition for its specific design story: the 42.5 mm case, blue lighthouse-inspired details and 1,841-piece limited run are its defining characteristics.
- Do not choose between either one and the GMT on specification claims yet: first confirm which Ocean Star GMT reference is under consideration.
Neither published specification set answers subjective review questions such as fit, finishing in person, timekeeping on a particular example, or how the bezel and lume perform. Those require direct inspection or documented testing.
