What makes Chaos Window PE different?
Chaos Window PE, or Chaos Window Printer’s Edition, is a reworked edition of Edward Carvalho-Monaghan’s 2017 Chaos Window design. Mr Jones Watches says Senior Gilding and Printing Technician Giulia Cacciuttolo remixed it with 23.5ct yellow gold, rose gold and palladium leaf, added details to the glass and discs, and hand-applied a marbled silver-leaf background. How to read its display
The design is more than a decorative dial, but it takes a moment to interpret: the angle of a horizon of ships indicates the hour, and the ships show which end of the horizon to read. Flames from a serpent’s nostrils indicate minutes; a square at the centre of the window marks seconds.
Published specifications
According to the maker, Chaos Window PE has a 316L stainless-steel case, sapphire glass, a Seagull ST2130 automatic mechanical movement, 5ATM water resistance and a 12-month warranty. It is listed as medium/unisex and comes with an 18 mm brown goat strap with light-blue stitching. These are manufacturer-published specifications, not independent test results.

Which design is right for you?
Choose Chaos Window PE for an elaborate, unconventional display
Its layered, hand-gilded surface and illustrated time indicators make it the most involved design in this group. Pick it if decoding the display is part of the appeal and you specifically want an automatic mechanical watch. The manufacturer currently marks it sold out, so the listed £495 price does not mean it is available to buy.

Choose A perfectly useless afternoon for a playful pool scene
This is the lower-priced quartz option tied with Time Warp in the observed UK listings. Its leg-and-duck time display keeps the artwork central without the ship-horizon and serpent indicators of Chaos Window PE. Choose Time Warp for moving character art
Time Warp combines a moving-character design with a reversible skull motif. The maker describes it as a 300-piece limited run. Its quartz movement and £245 listed UK price give it a different proposition from Chaos Window PE’s automatic movement and gilded surface. View the maker’s product page.

Ricochet uses a pinball theme and scoreboard to show hours and minutes, with a TY2709 20-jewel automatic mechanical jump-hour movement. It suits someone drawn to a mechanical display that differs from conventional hands without choosing Chaos Window PE’s illustrated indicators. Its observed UK listing was £345 and in stock. It is the largest stated case size in this comparison and had the highest observed UK listing, £750, while shown in stock. - Display: Decide whether you want artwork that also changes how you read the time, such as Chaos Window PE or Ricochet, or a more immediately familiar quartz format.
- Movement: The comparison includes quartz, automatic mechanical and jump-hour automatic options. The movement type alone does not establish comparative accuracy or durability.
- Size and strap: Chaos Window PE is listed as medium/unisex with an 18 mm strap; The Silent Thief’s listed case is 40 mm. The pages cited above do not establish equivalent case measurements for every model.
