The Urwerk UR-300 Time Quantum is a new wandering-hours watch that replaces the brand’s familiar rotating satellite carousel with two perpendicular linear modules arranged as a T-frame. Its four hour prisms jump forward and completely reconfigure the display at every hour, creating a rapid mechanical “blink.” Urwerk and specialist launch reports describe two 25-piece editions—natural Grade 5 titanium and AlTiN-coated titanium—priced at CHF 168,000 before taxes.
What is the Urwerk UR-300 Time Quantum?
The UR-300 Time Quantum is an avant-garde automatic wristwatch built around a wandering-hours display. Instead of showing the hour with conventional hands or a continuously rotating satellite carousel, it uses four tri-sided prisms carried by two perpendicular linear hour modules. Together they form a T-frame that changes configuration as the hour advances.

The concept is about transition as much as legibility. At the top of each hour, the mechanism makes a rapid forward jump, then reorganizes the display for the next hour. Felix Baumgartner described the idea this way: “The world of the atom is fascinating because it exists in a state of constant, temporary equilibrium. Introduce energy into the system and its structure breaks down, reorganizes and shifts into a new state. That idea of transition is what I wanted to translate into mechanics with the UR-300 Time Quantum.”
How the wandering-hours display works
The perpendicular T-frame
Urwerk says the watch contains two hour modules of linear construction fixed at right angles. Four tri-sided prisms carry the hour numerals. The active hour moves across a minutes scale rather than remaining in a fixed window, so the hour and minute are read together as the prism travels through the display.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The 108-degree minute arc
The active hour crosses a 0–60 minute scale laid out over a 108-degree arc. As the prism progresses, its position indicates the current minute. This preserves the basic wandering-hours reading method while giving the UR-300 a substantially different architecture from a rotating carousel.
The hourly “quick blink”
When an hour ends, the mechanism performs a quick forward jump and a complete reconfiguration. The change is not merely a numeral advancing in place: the T-frame rearranges the positions of its hour-carrying components for the next cycle.

Running seconds
Three separate running-seconds indicators divide a 120-degree arc. Each indicator covers 20 seconds, giving the seconds display a segmented, mechanically integrated appearance rather than a conventional central seconds hand.

Titanium versus AlTiN editions
Natural Grade 5 titanium
The standard version uses a natural Grade 5 titanium case. The published case dimensions are 45.2 mm × 58.8 mm × 18.25 mm, and the watch is rated to 30 metres of water resistance.
AlTiN-coated titanium
The second version starts with titanium and adds an aluminium-titanium nitride (AlTiN) PE-CVD coating. The coating changes the exterior finish and visual character; the available launch information does not state a separate set of dimensions or a different movement specification for this edition.

The UR-30.01 movement and Dual Flow Turbines
The UR-30.01 is an automatic calibre regulated by Urwerk’s patented Dual Flow Turbines. It runs at 4 Hz, uses a Swiss-lever escapement and contains 40 jewels. The turbines are part of Urwerk’s approach to controlling the automatic winding system while giving the movement a distinctive technical identity. The watch uses a two-position screw-down crown and a textile/NATO-style strap.

How large is it, and what does 30 metres mean?
At 45.2 mm wide, 58.8 mm long and 18.25 mm thick, the UR-300 has substantial wrist presence. Its 3 ATM rating—equivalent to 100 feet or 30 metres—is intended for everyday splashes, not swimming, diving or prolonged water exposure. The sapphire crystal has anti-reflective treatment to help preserve contrast across the broad, multi-part display.
Availability and Amazon listings
The UR-300 Time Quantum is positioned through Urwerk and specialist luxury-watch channels rather than ordinary mass-market retail. With only 50 watches planned, availability is expected to be handled through the brand and authorized specialist contacts.
No credible model-specific Amazon listing has been established for the UR-300 Time Quantum. A marketplace listing should not be assumed to represent authorized stock, and the stated CHF 168,000 price is not an Amazon retail price.

1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsWhy the 50-piece launch matters
Urwerk says it produces approximately 200 timepieces annually, with an emphasis on in-house satellite-component production, hand-finishing and mechanical experimentation. A 50-piece UR-300 launch therefore represents a significant share of the company’s approximate yearly output and explains the watch’s collector-focused positioning. Its defining distinction is not simply the unusual case or a limited run: it is the instantaneous reconfiguration of a perpendicular T-frame at every hour, rather than the gradual travel of a conventional rotating satellite system.
