Omega calls the release “2018 #SpeedyTuesday II” and titles its model page “The Return of Ultraman.” The reference number is 311.12.42.30.01.001. Omega describes the historical link as a Speedmaster Moonwatch appearing in the Japanese television series Return of Ultraman in the early 1970s. That connection is Omega’s account of the watch’s inspiration.

Omega’s design cues refer to the television connection rather than being purely decorative. The earlier Speedmaster associated with the series had an orange central seconds hand; this edition adds a black stripe to its orange chronograph hand. The 9 o’clock subdial contains an Ultraman face silhouette that can be seen with the supplied UV light. Orange marks the first three minutes of the 3 o’clock subdial, reflecting the character’s three-minute superhero limit, as Omega explains on its model page.
